Forrest, Christie and Turnbull

962

James Forrest’s injury in September happened three days before Jeremie Frimpong’s best performance of the season, in the home win against Hibs.  I remember using the MVP acronym for Jeremie at the time.  Team form until that point was patchy: wins with alarming defensive performances and an unmitigated disaster against Ferencvaros.  The team shape was clearly wrong and pushing Jeremie forward in James absence seemed logical.

It was the first of many changes I wanted to see, each followed by a realisation that we were groping around in the darkness, until Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull became the central points of a midfield diamond.  Having (hopefully) fixed the fundamental tactical problem, James return to full training offers Neil Lennon the flexibility he is denied on the right and enhances his option in the middle.

Ryan Christie is well short of his best form in a Celtic shirt but all of those best performances came when he played through the middle.  He can cover for James and offer options on the right while giving the manager a different option when he wants to swap out David Turnbull in the 10 position.

Can’t see them dropping more points than us outside of the head to heads . The 10 is out of reach now , realistically if not mathematically.

I say that with a mixture of sadness and anger .

    Actually , make that rage.

  2. Anybody know where to get last years detailed results/match reports? I’d like to look at

    2019-20

how many penalties did the league leaders get by this time last season ?

How many cards for and against?

Just don’t bury your head in the sand.

Look at the league table tonight.

The custodians of our club have allowed us to fall to this level.

Been watching “Designated Survivor” – really watchable – Donald Sutherland’s laddie as the US Pres. Formulaeic but also gripping at bits. Daughter came up with better name – “Nominated Nige” :-))

Big shout out for Justified, as mentioned above – unmissable, and with the coolest cop ever – Raylan Givens, US Marshall. Brilliant.

How come Beaton gets the Sevco gig two games on the trot ? And against the two nearest challengers?

That’s a rhetorical question BTW , no answers required .

  6. How can the players not have a requirement to self isolate if it was one of the main party? Even if the were socially distanced on the plane they will be at risk.

I cant see the Hibs players or personnel keen to engage.

i fear the worst here, I expect some serious repercussions,

  7. This jus posted by Celtic…whoever is doing the SEocials needs fired

dubai is a much safer place to be just now than britain

On Friday UAE had over 5000 cases of covid confirmed that was twice the amount in Scotland!

  10. Honestly i cannot fstjom the decision for Celtic to continue with the Dubai trip, aporoves or not, related to the positive case or not. It was a very poor call in every way.

  11. don’t worry about how many pens we don’t get and players red carded as it will all be evened up once the league is mathematically won and the history books will say we had the same stats as them’s.

I don’t know , but I seriously doubt it would come to that .

If it did though , heads should be deducted from shoulders!

  13. Permission given or not,the Dubai trip added to everything ,22 points and 23 goals behind a shite Sevco team, the Club is a total shambles.

You wonder if things could actually get any worse?

    Hibernian tomorrow night possibly….

I think if this season get any worse and PL leaves at end of the season I will have my pick of ST next season

    Every cloud

  16. We can all go on about How many decisions have gone The Bluenoses way ,and to me this just making excuses,What we should be looking at is how our club has been run until now ,The Manager and his assistant John Kennedy along with the Celtic Board must take full responsibility for the way the team was performing,Neil Lennon should have resigned 6 weeks ago ,or got sacked, and personally that’s how I see the predicament we are in at the minute,And low and behold we come back from Dubai and one player has tested positive, what a shambles our club is in,it’s a cert our next 2 Games will be cancelled, and finally don’t come on here and criticise The Bluenoses,or referees that’s what Lawell and co like to see ,when we all no he is one off the culprits that’s got our club into this situation.

Would it help get rid of the management team?

  18. and how many will have to self isolate having been in close contact , didn’t look like much social distancing in the bar photos.

Unless Google is making stuff up, the UAE reported 2990 new positives on 8 January

The UAE has twice the population of Scotland

Dubai is in the UAE but isn’t the UAE.

My Mrs’s friend spent the day at the beach today and went out for dinner with 11 friends on two separate tables. They haven’t messed around there with the restrictions, and you don’t get anyone breaking the rules.

Dubai is a much safer place to be than Scotland at the moment

  20. One thing for sure. The so called “wee ” teams will be watching and calling us out here … Hamilton,st mirren, Motherwell, Hibs and Kilmarnock all affected by covid.

If also this was a main player then other players will be on there toes as the spread and incubation period plays out!

A disastrous piece of pr. After we filleted the SFA for poor care of our players when with them !

Another thing for me in relative terms cost wise why have the club not bought the vaccine and given by it to all the players and staff

  21. Bob- I wouldn’t be in favour of the Club buying vaccine for the players, it’s scarce enough just now,but I can see companies doing it.
