Forrest, Christie and Turnbull

962

James Forrest’s injury in September happened three days before Jeremie Frimpong’s best performance of the season, in the home win against Hibs.  I remember using the MVP acronym for Jeremie at the time.  Team form until that point was patchy: wins with alarming defensive performances and an unmitigated disaster against Ferencvaros.  The team shape was clearly wrong and pushing Jeremie forward in James absence seemed logical.

It was the first of many changes I wanted to see, each followed by a realisation that we were groping around in the darkness, until Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull became the central points of a midfield diamond.  Having (hopefully) fixed the fundamental tactical problem, James return to full training offers Neil Lennon the flexibility he is denied on the right and enhances his option in the middle.

Ryan Christie is well short of his best form in a Celtic shirt but all of those best performances came when he played through the middle.  He can cover for James and offer options on the right while giving the manager a different option when he wants to swap out David Turnbull in the 10 position.

I agree, said at the beginning of the season that because of the Resolution and 5wa I was out and 10iar would not deter me.

This mob are a PLC and more interested in cash, starve them. Stop your ST’s and buy a ticket stub for the games you want to go. We did they same in the 90’s or the old board would persevere.

  2. lets all do the huddle on

Off topic- anyone exhausted Netflix and Prime as much as me…..and found some uncut diamonds of films or series. Watched all the headline stuff and more.

    Recommendations welcome please

have you seen Attack of the Killer Squirrels?

probably no point in watching it now

too many folk on here have given away the storyline

  3. Although this was always possible and certainly not hindsight this retrospective quarantine is a convenient way for the SG to bury bad news.

SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX

Where did that come from, you deselect a country not a city!

  5. Absoloute shambles.

Our Board and management team are an absoloute shambles.

I am still dumbfounded that anyone at our club would have thought” aye it will be a great trip, necessary travel, let’s go”. Incredible

    D :)

  6. Why the tin foil hats and paranoia.

If the Scottish government were wanting to harm Celtic they wouldn’t set rules from the 11 January, when Celtic are already back. Geez ohh

  7. Anyone who thinks that this season is not down to our own incompetence is living in a world of denial.

Don’t be fooled this lyes with Desmond.Lawell and Lenny.

  8. Now I disagree with the Dubai trip

The Scottish Goverment approved this trip

Celtic players are classed as Elite Athletes and allowed to travel

This new ?? Should Not impact on Celtic players

Who are tested regularly, pre travel, and pre return

  9. POG…

‘…passengers who have travelled to Scotland from Dubai since 3 January are also being asked to isolate for 10 days, from the date they arrived back in the country.’ How can you isolate while playing v 11 other players?

Does this not mean our first team is scuppered? Ah well, least young Dembele and Connell might get a game now.

Clusterfugh of the Lawwell-est proportions in what should have been a bar and record-setting season.

Can you explain how a Columbian played a full game against DU recently, recievinga retrospective Red Card

Can you explain why a referee had to restrain a Columbian last week, and only booked him ?

Have you ever seen this before, anywhere in world football ??

Can you explain how Hibernian didn’t get a penalty a couple of weeks back when a player is tackled with a foot about 6 ft in the air ?

    You get my drift

Maybe explain why teams are refereed differently to the same rules ?

    Yes Celtic have been poor

But do Not kid us on, that we are watching a fairly refereed contest

  11. quadrophenian

So if you arrived back on January 3 you need to isolate until January 13, just over two days from now….

ScotGov expects you to isolate in retro…..

    That’ll work every time

  12. Some chatter online that elite sport in England will be stopped for 3 weeks from tomorrow. Supposedly a meeting tomorrow.

  13. Who actually decided on the science that says elite athletes were exempt from the Covid regulations that affect the general public? From what I can see, apart from the huns who I believe are lying as usual, elite athletes are not fairing too well with the present situation.

I don’t have the energy to argue the point with you.

    Believe what you want .

    It won’t make Celtic better.

  15. Hi Lhads.

Why is it that every deed every action and every idea by Celtic fc is bisected disected and fkn trisected by the Scottish authorities for the whole world to see how bad and terrible they are ?

My mother in law and her sister flew back in from Dubai last week, out visiting family. Both have had texts from track and trace and now phone calls saying passengers on their flight have tested positive.

Not happy they went, not happy Celtic went. And that was before the Derby game for the whataboutery folk……

They will now make a decision tomorrow on whether Celtic’s trip will qualify under elite sports.

  20. Scottish Govt.now saying we are not exempt from new rule which was created when had already gone.

About 1 hour ago it was reported we were exempt, this has now been reversed to.a further discussion tomorrow.

Someone has been influenced here, stinks to high heaven.

A poor decision to travel.has allowed opportunity to impact us further, albeit via dubious means.

Who.knows perhaps our Board will waken up.to the fact this is not a fair contest, maybe we should tell them enough is enough, clean this up or were out.

  21. philcool

    Indeed I do.

And if you read Ernie Lynch’s post above,,,

    You’ll get mine…

  22. It was probably Lawwell who suggested it to Sturgeon. He must have a huge bet on sevco this season.

  23. Perfect Storm heading our way.

There will be conflicted thinking from those who believe the Board blew the Ten and therefore deserve everything coming hteir way.

If it is a government decision to retrospectively sanction Celtic for somehting they had previously approved, then there will be conflicted reasoning from those who value the SNP above Celtic.

Me- I’d play our reserves, if we have enough, against Hibs and take whatever result is coming our way.

I suspect that if Covid is worsening at hte rate it seems, we are very close to a suspension of all play anyway
