Forrest, Christie and Turnbull

962

James Forrest’s injury in September happened three days before Jeremie Frimpong’s best performance of the season, in the home win against Hibs.  I remember using the MVP acronym for Jeremie at the time.  Team form until that point was patchy: wins with alarming defensive performances and an unmitigated disaster against Ferencvaros.  The team shape was clearly wrong and pushing Jeremie forward in James absence seemed logical.

It was the first of many changes I wanted to see, each followed by a realisation that we were groping around in the darkness, until Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull became the central points of a midfield diamond.  Having (hopefully) fixed the fundamental tactical problem, James return to full training offers Neil Lennon the flexibility he is denied on the right and enhances his option in the middle.

Ryan Christie is well short of his best form in a Celtic shirt but all of those best performances came when he played through the middle.  He can cover for James and offer options on the right while giving the manager a different option when he wants to swap out David Turnbull in the 10 position.

If the “ordinary” supporter on the Celtic Board role transpires – think you should go for it.

I wonder exactly in what way anyone posting on this blog could actually make this whole shitstorm worse?

Maybe we should look the other way and kid ourselves on that Celtic FC are not in serious trouble both on and off the park?

  4. Not a shred of humour, or humanity or plain oul’ LOVE for our Club………….just sleekit jabs and poison.

Thems need the Title to be kalled early hence the scoddish rush and mobbing of Celtica.

We have our problems but this stinks!

    HHH.

What exactly qualifies you as the witchfinder general on CQN.

What do you do as the most uber supporter to support Celtic.

Do you even watch the games ?

You love the use of the word “sleekit”.

    How would you define it?

Would anyone who dares question the direction of our club come under the term?

I don’t drink alcohol at the moment, like everyone else in the country.

The government have deemed it a risk.

Spot on to many blinded by the fog a few observations .

The windows been open for almost 11 days

We have not got one player in to supplement the team !

We are in a bit of dssaray off the park. But look over there ….at the huns. You know they are shite struggling to pay this and that there on the verge of admin …. I despair at our support sometimes .

The board are running rings round us. But it’s ok because the huns might be going into admin. All our problems are because the huns need the league stopped. It’s farcical some of the stuff on this thread !

Look inward first. I’d say our board just don’t know what to do they have never really had a crisis to deal with and the ain’t equipped to deal with it !

  9. If the team and management squad are decimated tonight, Lawwell could end up in the dugout, where he thinks he belongs…

  10. Eh… I drink alcohol Bhoys. To much my wife would say.

I love watching the Tic with a few beers, then before and after the game talking all things Celtic. Love it.

At the moment it is restricted to my bubble of course.

    D :)

  11. Should have said it will be ok as Paul’s blog will be about how much the SNP/media hate Celtic …. Or some other deflection from the the real story .

It’s end of days for us (metaphorically) the empire is falling and nobody can fix it or has the calm of mind to set up a response to the crisis we are in !

We need to actually have a good hard look at the shit we are in at present.

A board who seem happy to be pressing the self destruct button, fiddle while Celtic Park burns but hey the huns are going bust. We need to get a grip.

  13. The Battered Bunnet on

One of those ‘it seemed like a great idea at the time’ hangovers for Celtic this morning.

Although the club hasn’t confirmed whether or not the infected player was on the Dubai trip, the fact that they haven’t confirmed that he wasn’t strongly suggests he was. If you can follow that. I’m assuming for the moment that he travelled.

There’s a standard procedure that Public Health Scotland are now implementing, which in short is a contract tracing exercise followed by a risk assessment. That the player tested positive on Friday means, by default, the assumption that he was infectious in the preceding days.

Anyone considered a close contact – as Ryan Christie was when Stuart Armstrong tested positive during a Scotland trip recently – will be required to isolate.

Then there is a judgement call on the wider transmission risk, with a particular focus on the plane. Chances are the process started on Saturday when the positive test result was returned, and will be concluded today at least on an interim basis, ahead of the Hibs match.

Celtic should know shortly how many of the player’s contacts – if any – are required to isolate, and, given the assessed risks given the journey and other matters, whether the entire squad – and management/backroom/support staff/security etc – are to isolate.

In the coming 10 days we have three league matches to play. We already have 3 matches to catch up. The SPFL might have a difficult decision to make later as to whether there is room in the schedule, should matches require to be postponed.

We’ll see the various decisions over the coming few hours, but in the cold, gloomy morning light, it’s not looking very clever, is it.

  14. THE BATTERED BUNNET

We haven’t looked very clever on and off the park for most of the season.

    Good post though!

I posted last night about a family member being contacted to isolate after flying home from Dubai last week. There are elite women football players from English clubs flying back from Dubai last week who are either positive or having to isolate. I don’t know our flying arrangements, chartered flight? If it was then that would preserve our bubble maybe?

There have been instances over the past 9 months or so of countries going on the quarantine list when people have been on holiday, happened to a young lad at my work who had to take 2 weeks unpaid. Dubai seems to be the hot spot at the minute.

No matter what, I didnt agree with the trip by Celtic or my family member for that matter.

  17. I despair to he Huns are not going on into admin

You don’t even need to be clever to understand this I wish people would stop say this.

Our hope that they would ended a long time past and if our are a fan reading this and it’s your hope or concern at the moment I suggest your focus is in the wrong place. But this will suit some no doubt

  18. Paul’s article on it yesterday said it was one of the travelling staff that tested positive, so I’m expecting the worst today.

  19. TBB………

    Agreed.

Perceptions can be deceiving though, eh! ( bear with me, I’m clutching at straws…. :)

I mean just look at the Huns; everything’s fine an’ dandy over at the Toilet Block, correct?

Well, if it wisnae surely The SFA, ScotGov ( no laughing) Shortie an’ the meeja would be all over thum like 2 coats o’ paint on old asbestos?

The facts of this matter may be obscured by a complicit scoddland, who would prefer to dump the keech all over us and ours for thur ain parochial reasons…………

Now, to paraphrase Jock, we have to be far far better than the competition to obviate the sleekitry of those in charge of the game – and why we still have to be like that in this day an’ age has never been tackled.

Clearly we haven’t been as clever as our competition in lots of respects but that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve been stupid either.

I’m hopin’ for the best but fear the worst.

  20. I wish some people would stop the finger pointing and blaming others.

There is no one to blame for the state we are on and off the park other than ourselves.

Not the SFA, referees, MSM or the government

  21. i saw a FB post the other day about rescue dogs being the best dogs.

Amongst the comments was ‘all dogs matter’. There was no smiley or anything so looked like a real response. World’s gone mad
