Forrest Feedback Club, Nir ruffling

913

The James Forrest Feedback Club were quiet last night.  I’ve no idea if James will rediscover his form on a sustained basis, or if his limbs will allow him to attain his potential, but it was good to see him running at defenders with confidence again.

He got the measure of John Rankin early on.  Thereafter the United marker could do little more than block James whenever they faced-off.

I’ve been impressed with Dundee United during this series of games.  Fojut held things together remarkably well at Hampden, you can see why we signed him subject to a medical, while Ryan McGowan was clearly their best player at Celtic Park, notwithstanding his late lunge at Liam Henderson.  Well done to McGowan for coming onto Twitter to share apologies and congratulations.

Nadir Ciftci’s swagger reminded me of Jackie Dziekanowski in his latter days as a Celtic player.  He’s probably found his level at United, where he can turn it on at will, but the modern game is looking for something different.

Loved the moment when a fouled Nir Bitton ruffled the hair of his assailant, Aiden Connolly.  Nir is growing by the week, I’m working hard to avoid comparisons.  We’ve not seen much of an edge from him since that, mistimed, tackle against Ajax, but he could do with some of that in-your-face attitude others in the midfield have.

Not been online much since the game, what suspension have the SFA offered Paul Paton after his altercation with Anthony Stokes?

Keep your eyes peeled for a nomad.  They can hide in bins and outhouses.  Check your shed.  Any will do.

  1. Sorry paul

Totally disagree with you regarding utd

Team of thugs.3 games against us and never even tried to play football.

As for wee jackie? No for me.

  2. McGowan is a thug pure and simple, him Butcher, and Shifty, wouldent even get in a half decent Celtic team never mind this one, they where made to look like pub players last night, and that’s about as far as I would think they would get, they got there arses handed to them on a plate last night and I look forward to the same result for them on Sat.

And there vile tramp fans who have joined the Aberdeen retards who sing about child abuse, as if it was a fun subject, the fakin dregs of humanity to say the least.

I see the Scottish press are still going on and on about Linwood born Paul Paton of Dundee united being called into the Northern Ireland squad for the game against the country of his birth. Why can’t they leave the lad alone its not as if he’s Aiden McGeady ?

  4. Re Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly

Maybe we could get a petition up for Tom Boyd to takeover the reigns at Tannadice before Saturday maybe then we can get someone that will capitulate to his former club turn over on his back and let us tickle his tummy.

Peter Lawell should really install a stadiumcam at Celtic Park where all those that are averse to any critical comment by former players or otherwise can tune in and watch the grass growing

  5. twentyfirstofmaynineteenseventynine on

Thought it was a great performance last night considering our schedule of late, no-one let us down (though the clown behind me who constantly slated Stokes and Izzy obviously didnt agree) I see Simon Donnelly thinks the turning point was Efe escaping a red card. No mention of their keeper escaping a similar fate in the first minute ! The whinging of the Utd coaches and players has done them no credit, hope we take a barrow load off them on Saturday

Macnamara wound his team up for a physical battle a game they dont play against any other team

It is sad to label the manager a dud after only a few games

    But its also true

The sooner Celtic face up to the fact that they have made a huge mistake and bite the bullet and get rid of him the better,

We will not win the league with this man in charge

You can remind me of this post in Mid October,Early January and the end of May

  10. Re Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly

I don’t expect any thing from these two ex Celts. And no one should, but let’s not get to carried away with us being accused of that, they are the coaches of those thugs who have tried to kick us off the park in the last three games and those orders came from them, if that’s the best both of them can do then they never learned a thing at Celtic Park, McNamarra as a coach is going no where, that I can safely say, sending players out to play like that is? Well it’s down right Hunnish.

  11. AR

I wouldn’t expect opponents, Celtic-minded or not, not to commit fouls against us, but there’s a difference between a foul committed while attempting to win the ball, and one which is made with the ball being an irrelevance. If the referees would apply the rules of the game, without checking the colour of the players’ strips first, it wouldn’t really matter where an opponent’s allegiances lie.

You want to avoid comparisons regarding Biton

The grey brigade who normally sit towards the front of 405 who joined me in lower tier last night have for some weeks been lovingly reciting what sounds like wordperfect commentary which I presume refers to the opening goal at Leeds in 1970 ECSF.

They refer to Biton as ‘Connelly’.

I admit that my fears about the Forrest Commons Stokes trio were misplaced on the night. However it could be argued that Stokes made 3 contributions.

The set piece for the first goal, not making the challenge at halfway which led to basically the only chance DU created all night, and getting himself sent off.

Perhaps that’s why it’s taking King Dave a wee whiley…

How long before they start calling King Dave f’king Dave?

Is Paul Murray still counting out the contents of his piggy bank?

  14. I like Bitton, always have since he destroyed Hearts in his first season, always wondered what prevented him.kicking on from that game. Not sure about the George Connelly comparisons, but he doesn’t half remind me of Tom Callaghan.

So Thems still have no Nomad appointed as yet?

Online dictionary’s definition of a nomad..?

    “nomad

    noun

    noun: nomad; plural noun: nomads

a member of a people that travels from place to place to find fresh pasture for its animals and has no permanent home.”

You really couldn’t make it up.

  16. Pogmathonyahun aka Laird of the Smiles on

Re Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly.

I would not expect any manager, ex-Celt or not to ask his team to lie down against Celtic, nor would I want them to. I do expect a manager to ask his team to go out and compete honestly to the best of their ability without trying to cause an injury to an opponent and without trying to get an opponent sent off. McNamara and Donnelly have obviously attended the Jim Jeffries School of Football Coaching if their post match interviews are anything to go by, pair of torn faced bassas.

  19. “The James Forrest Feedback Club were quiet last night”

Probably like me they were at the game, late home, and stunned to silence seeing this winger eventually doing what he is handsomely paid for.

Pleased to see a productive forward contribution, work still needed on tracking back however much better.

  20. Bitton reminds me of big Morten Weighorst (as I don’t recall Connelly in his prime).

    Btw I’m Nomad, I’m happy.

  21. Of the many things I feel Stokes needs to improve upon, we can add streetwise to the list…

When a sleekit sneaky coward like Paton, elbows you when everyone’s back is turned, Stokesy you don’t flinch. You don’t take the bait there and then. Instead u do nothing initially. You then wait until 5minutes or so later, and when the wee rat is receiving a pass, you put everything through and over the ball, snap’in the wee runt in the process. That way, ur sending off is worthwhile.

McNamara will be getting questions asked of him by his own supporters soon enough, they may have bought his excuses regarding decisions going against them in first two games but I think they’ll see through it after last nights pummeling

  24. Biton in his early days reminded me of Ki in his early days. Timid but obviously had a good brain.

Now he is looking every bit of the player that Ki turned into. Excellent distribution.

Stokes suspension would give Ronny the chance to switch Johansen straight into the squad. If you ask me, I’d like to see Zig and Zag come in. Commons could use a rest.

There are times when Arsene Wenger just comes across as a whiner , plain and simple.

After last night he wants the away goals rule scrapped because

“Two English teams have gone out on away goals and that should be questioned. ”

Really , so if it had been two French teams or German teams and the English teams had gone through that would have been ok ?

Here’s a suggestion Arsene – teach your players to defend and concentrate for the whole 90+minutes.

Some might go so far as to suggest that’s your job.

Paton of Dundee Utd has done well to have only been ordered off once (in error) over the sequence of Celtic games.

A bit ironic really, considering his antics including interacting with the Front Stand and signs of Sevconianess.
