BRENDAN RODGERS admitted it was an honour to be Celtic boss as he guided the Hoops to their 100th trophy.

But the Irishman there is still room for improvement, despite the fact they dominated Aberdeen in their 3-0 Betfred League Cup Final triumph this afternoon.

He said: “I’m obviously very privileged to manage Celtic. I’m happy for everyone – the players, the fans and I’m very lucky to be at a club that I know how they are feeling.

“Our performance was very good – tactically the players were excellent, they pressed the game well and were the dominant team.

“There’s still a lot of improvement in the team in terms of how we play, so that’s nice, but we have something tangible to show for our work.

“I am very proud of the team today, great support again – it’s brilliant for them.

“I said when I came in that it is very important that players and supporters have that connection – my job is to bring in a team the supporters want which is a team of substance and a team that makes them happy.

“They are obviously very happy, but there is a long season to go.

“We have many things to achieve, with two competitions in the league and the Scottish Cup. However, it’s also about performance – to perform and improve our game, understanding our game knowledge and be prepared to be better all the time.”

Tom Rogic and James Forrest were the first-half marksmen with Moussa Demeble rolling a penlty-kick to complete the scoring.

Rogic said: “I think the fans deserve it, we deserve it as the playing squad because we have worked hard all season – it’s no less than we deserve.

“We won 3-0, but it’s not easy against Aberdeen. They have pushed us very close in the last few years, but I feel this season we have gone up a level.

“There are days like this that you enjoy playing football.”

Forrest added: “We are absolutely delighted, we have done brilliantly to get to the Final and obviously winning it is tremendous and we are going to enjoy it.

“I thought we were really strong in the first-half – we started really well and that set us off for the game and I am delighted we managed to win it.

“We are absolutely delighted to win another trophy for this club and buzzing to have won it.”
