FORSTER DILEMMA

FORMER Celtic keeper Fraser Forster could find himself in soccer limbo at the start of a new season.

The ex-England international, a massive favourite with Hoops fans before his £10million switch to Southampton in August 2014, has dropped to THIRD in the pecking order at the south coast outfit.

Mark Hughes splashed £13.5million on Manchester City’s Angus Gunn in the summer while awarding back-up shotstopper Alex McCarthy a new three-year contract.

It looked as though Burnley would throw Forster, 30, a lifeline with boss Sean Dyche desperately seeking  cover following injuries to his first and second choices, Nick Pope and Tom Heaton.

Anders Lindegaard faced Aberdeen in the Europa League qualifier last week, but Dyche has now clinched a shock £4million deal for another former England shotstopper in Joe Hart who was out in the cold at Manchester City.

With less than a week to go until the start of the Premier League campaign, the Turf Moor gaffer stepped up his efforts to bring in.a quality keeper.

Hart, 31, who won two Premier League titles with City, spent last season on loan at West Ham.

He went on a similar deal to Italian side Torino in 2016 following Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad.

Now Forster has until the English transfer deadline closes at 5pm on Thursday to find a new club south of the border.
