There has been a bit of chat this week about Fraser Forster making his loan move to Celtic permanent. While there is a chance this could happen, there are hurdles. Not least is Fraser’s Southampton contract, which is in excess of the £70k per week reported this week.
The keeper is the highest paid player at St Mary’s and will enter the final year of his contract in June. On the positive side, Southampton have made it clear they are keen to get him off their books, but I would temper expectations that Fraser would write-off millions of salary to come to Celtic.
Celtic and Southampton have worked through several transfers in recent seasons, including the loan deal for Mohamed Elyounoussi, so there is a possibility an accommodation on Fraser’s deal could be part of a wider package.
The major unknown is where Southampton will play their football next season and who will be making squad selection decisions. They are currently three points from safety in a Premier League relegation spot. Relegation is likely to increase their appetite to offload players who could not get into the current squad.

Masterstroke to get Fraser Forster on a season long loan, from Southampton, where he’s probably out of favour because he earns more than the other keepers.
Another upgrade for Celtic and like El younoussi, it’s good for us, and good for careers.
Craig Gordon is out of contract in summer, and Forster holds all the cards in the transfer game, but Celtic revitalised a career going nowhere.
Hrvatski Jim…………often wondered is Rod Stewart a substantial share holder in Celtic? Fantastic model railway alright.

thanks for your post earlier, was good to get clarification on exactly where you stand,
let me say this, by now you must be aware of the sheer volume of nutters there are out there,
just as you say the guy that stands beside you at Celtic Park and loudly berates everyone and anything that crosses his path,
well on the internet there are millions of chumps like that and some may well end up posting on CQN,
there is no way Jimmy that you will be able to sort them all out,
I would advise you to not even try, just ignore,
unless, when I was a lad running about EK there was loads of guys who actually liked to fight,
went out of their way looking for it, even if they got a thumping,
it never deterred them, they just loved – well I was never quite sure what they loved,
so if you don’t mind the aggro, then go ahead take them all on,
but don’t underestimate the task, or the amount of aggro that will come your way
Jimmy – its not worth it mate – best to take all of it with a pinch of salt and put the kettle on :-)
Hail Hail
Celts 18s were thrashed 0-5 this month in the Scottish Youth Cup by Sevco at Broadwood. A tournament we’ve won more times than all other teams combined almost. I haven’t noticed any reports about this hiding.
The debating points it raises for me are straightforward. Who is running this squad and why is he still in a job?
Cant understand this continuing interest in what BR is up to, he’s gone and he won’t be coming back, lets move on,
the fact that you can’t believe anything he says, we don’t need to worry about that, let Leicester worry about that,
Look at what he gave us and forget everything else,
it’s football, somebody out to better their lot by any means possible, happens all the time

I noticed this defeat, but I consoled myself with our under 19 Ghirls winning their league.
HH.
Surely Steve Presley would be a better option than JK for Hibs.
Greenpinata
His managerial record wouldn’t suggest so
Gene,
Granted, it’s not spectacular. But SP has a managerial record going back circa 10 years.
JK has no principal managerial record.
Both would be a gamble but imo SP would be a lesser gamble. After Heckingbottom they would desire a tested manager.
Cheers and HH.

Wow!
Eden Mill and Celtic announce a three year sponsorship deal. Wow, good news for Whisky and Gin drinkers.
Was there not a prominent CQN’er associated with Eden Mill.?
HH.
Greenpinata
He’s certainly been tried but found wanting – but being an ex jambo probably not on Hibs radar.

Think it’s Burnley 78
Gene,
You are probably right.
Funny, for years I questioned John Kennedy’s role at Parkhead. Many thought the sympathy card was the reason that we employed him.
Now I don’t want him to go.
HH.
GREENPINATA and GENE
It is indeed BURNLEY78.
He was a regular guest in the boardrooms of Celtic and the mankies in a previous existence.
Told some great tales at the golf outing at Aberdour about 10 years ago.
Really nice ghuy!
Funny or not!!!!
A pal of mine went to Thailand to look for a lovely young girl to marry and found his dream. The sad part is that a month after the marriage his wife died of prostate cancer!

Not funny.

On first reading not funny until I realised women don’t have a prostate. Still not funny

Kinglubo,
A broken heart hurts the same when a loved one dies.

That would be grand when we do ten. 👍🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
oops, did not mean to offend, sorry.
KINGLuBO
Kinglubo,
I’m no offended, just thinking about death of loved ones regardless of sexual orientation or preferences. Love is love.
KINLUBO
I’m not offended mate!
No harm done.
To me anyway.
KINGLUBO sorry.
I’m glad it was a joke 😁

bit unfair, is their job to make players progress to be celtic players or even sold on, or to win youth trophies ?
the very best of the 18’s squad got promoted to reserve team at start of season.

I like that :-))
Whilst on the subject, someone commented the other day re Xmas instead of Christmas.
” Chi (or X) is the first letter in the Greek word for Christ. In the early days of the Christian church, Christians used the letter X as a secret symbol to indicate their membership in the church to others. If you know the Greek meaning of X, Xmas and Christmas essentially mean the same thing: Christ + mas = Christmas.”

The vast majority of people who use Xmas have no idea of the origin and just can’t be bothered writing Christmas.
Happy Winterfest 🙂

Who would you leave out and with whom would you replace him?
Gene
Really? I thought it might be because they were not Christians.
Even as an atheist though, I don`t like the use of ` Xmas`.
