Foundation, Amazon and the shifting crisis

314

A quick and easy win: Amazon are one of the few outlets still open and many of us are likely to use them in the weeks ahead.  If you select Celtic FC Foundation as your chosen AmazonSmile charity, they will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price to the Foundation.

With tens of thousands of Celtic fans mostly restricted to online shopping, that quickly aggregates up.  The Foundation is needed more today than at any point since its formation, anything we can do to fill the coffers will help.

Yesterday, Foundation chief executive, Tony Hamilton, said, “The situation for many of our neighbours has worsened in the past few days as this crisis has shifted. People are losing income, and with it their ability to feed themselves and their families.

“Our top priority is assisting with that in the communities where we have relationships with existing partner organisations.”

“Thanks to everyone who has made this possible for us. Even in such uncertain and difficult times, the consistency has been the selflessness of the Celtic support who have stepped up to offer assistance when it’s needed.”

The money pledged for our Covid-19 response now stands at £175k.  There are difficult and uncertain times for everyone, but no club in Britain has responded as comprehensively.

And remember: AmazonSmile, it costs you nothing……

‘Now how does that virus spread again ?’

    ####

It seems to be primarily by droplets and aerosols excreted by people coughing and sneezing, hence the advice to stay at least 6ft away from other people.

There’s also the possibility of collecting the virus on your hands from touching a surface which has the virus on it. But that’s only a problem if you put your contaminated hands to your mouth, nose, eyes or ears.

So wear gloves and/or wash your hands properly and you should be OK.

It’s about managing risk, because you can’t avoid it altogether.

    Agreed re. droplet spread .

Just to expand , the wash hands advice is related to the transfer of the virus from the hands internally through a mucous membrane.

” Mucous membranes line many tracts and structures of the body, including the mouth, nose, eyelids, trachea (windpipe) and lungs, stomach and intestines, and the ureters, urethra, and urinary bladder.6 Feb 2020 “

I’ve been using this for Foundation for a year or so; it mounts up, esp at Christmas

  10. I think what MACJAY is trying to say is ” do not touch your mouth and eyes and nose before washing or sanitising your hands” without that the virus cannot get into your internals. Simple!

  14. Chanty, I must be about 2 years older than you. I too spent many an hour on that wall.

You must be about the same age as the likes of Kevin McGowan and John Kelly.

Not “good “- some epidemiologists have expressed the belief that today’s rise is down to the “biological time bomb ” that was Atalanta v Valencia at the San Siro

    Bin collections update 26/03/2020

The council’s kerbside refuse collections will resume tomorrow, Frid experienceay 27 March, after today’s temporary suspension.

The temporary suspension was necessary so we could work with our staff to put in place safe working arrangements for our refuse collection crews that comply with current social distancing guidelines.

Bins due for collection on Friday 27 March should be presented at the kerbside as normal.

Unfortunately, the nationwide response to the coronavirus threat has had a significant impact on resources across both public and private sectors. Consequently, we are currently not in a position to empty the bins that were scheduled to be collected on Thursday 26 March.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and ask residents to bear with us during these unprecedented times.

Bins scheduled to be collected on Thursday 26 March should be returned to their storage area and re-presented at the next scheduled collection date.

Where affected residents have additional waste because their bin was not emptied today, we will lift excess waste at the next collection. However, please note that bulky waste will not be uplifted as side waste.

At that this point in time we intend to maintain a full kerbside services, however will keep this under review as it will depend on the resources available.

The council is continuing discussions with our civic amenity site operator Viridor who have suspended operations at the present time, with a view to offering a level of service if possible.

  18. So after saying this morning that not joining the EU’s procurement of essential medical supplies (ventilators etc) was due to the fact that we weren’t in the EU and it was better to offer Brexit supporting Dyson a contract to build (as yet and untried) equipment it now appears that the real reason is because the gov missed the email from the EU.

    Unbelievable (in every conceivable way).

  21. THE EXILED TIM on

Many many thanks for all you donations folks, the young fella is made up, it’s helped lift his mood big time, we are truly humbled by your generosity.

The Mrs got an email from the administrators telling her that it’s nothing to do with them, she has to take it up with the new owners, now I am no legal expert, but I was under the impression that when a business went into admin, the administrators were responsible for all debts, it seems that this admin firm see things differently, I hope that someone will let us know what the score on this is, they could well be correct.

    Take care and stay safe.

  22. Just on the news that a company has now produced a 2hr test. Until all Gov tell these companies to work together and they will not profit out of this virus but only pay wages and costs. This thing will kill a lot more than it should.
