LUKE McCOWAN was a four-time loser in the Celtic v Dundee confrontations last season.
The midfielder suffered as he came out second best in all four occasions the teams locked horns and felt the pain of of a 7-1 mauling at Parkhead the last time the clubs met at Parkhead in February.
McCowan had been in the side that was turned over 3-0 at the same venue in September last year and Brendan Rodgers’ men repeated the scoreline at Dens Park on Boxing Day.
DUEL IN PARADISE…Luke McCowan battles with Yang Hyun-jun for possession in Celtic’s 7-1 romp at Parkhead in February.
That was followed by the goal avalanche in the east end of Glasgow after the turn of the year and the 26-year-old Greenock-born middle-of-the-park performer brought down the curtain on a sequence of setbacks on Tayside in April when a double from James Forrest gave the Hoops a 2-1 win and kept the champions on course for a third successive title.
However, four months later, McCowan’s football fortunese were turned upside down when he joined his boyhood heroes in a bargain £1million switch from Dundee on transfer deadline day.
The energetic operator made his first start for his dream team in the 3-0 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park at the weekend – and marked the occasion by rifling in the opening goal.
BY THE LEFT…Luke McCowan whips a low shot past Motherwell defenders to open the scoring for Celtic at Fir Park on the champions’ way to a 3-0 triumph.
McCowan, who will miss Saturday’s Premier Sports League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen because he is Cup-tied, is looking forward to be given the nod by his manager to be in at the kick-off against his old team-mates tonight.
And the wholehearted operator, already a favourite with the Celtic faithful, is hoping to buck last term’s painful trend and come off Paradise as a winner.
Good luck, Luke!
