Fragile limbs

The overwhelming request from an international break is that our players return injury-free.  Nir Bitton made an appearance as a second half substitute against Wales last night but left the field 18 minutes later, with a foot injury.

Nir is in the best form of his life and has carved himself out a deep-lying creative role in the Celtic team.  Central midfield roles don’t come up for grabs too often.  Two of our strongest players, Scott Brown and Stefan Johansen, compete for a small number of central midfield jerseys, although they are different types of players, so it’s important our Nir doesn’t spend too long on the side-lines.

Fraser Forster’s terrible knee injury last weekend was sickening.  The big guy is one of the most professional players in the game and is absolutely dedicated to his development.  His form in the FA Premier League this season has been sensational, recording more shutouts than any other keeper.

It’s a blow to Southampton too, who gave Celtic £10m for Fraser’s services seven months ago.

Wtf was John O Shea doing at Rhe goal.

He is going backwards as a player week by week just now..

Our admission prices seem crazy to our Eastern European friends. I work with 2 Polish guys and a Slovakian guy whose all time hero is Lubo. They love Celtic but have been once or twice in 10 years. Sad that the low paid workers are priced out of Paradise. I include Scots in that.

I have had exactly the same issue as TBB. When going on to the site I often get 3o seconds of some ad site.

I have just tried to go the top of the next page as I caught up, and I got the same 30 second plus of ads – on full page.

I had to come out of the site and then go back in.

Didn’t used to be like this for me. Started about 6 months ago.

Just for info (but if you could stop it well that’d be brilliant)

  5. On another matter,

I was hearing from a Jambo pal of mine that we are apparently keeping tabs on a few Hearts players, namely Keatings and King. Any truth in this or just lazy rumours do we think?

  6. Problem with the ticket prices is that we rely heavily on season ticket money, which has already been cut £100. Mines is £488 so 19 games works out £25 a game. So for talking sake reduce prices per game to £15 for general sale and lots of people wont buy season tickets. Gubbed either way.

  7. setting free the bears,

Point taken. Ukraine away in particular would probably be a very tough match and I don’t doubt that each country would fancy their chances against Scotland (no-one will ever ‘fear’ coming to Hampden like they did half a century ago).

My original point is really that Scotland should be delighted if they manage to secure a play off place and then see how they fare in a play off. By no means are Scotland good enough as a side to feel they have underachieved in some way if they don’t finish in the top two.

  8. HT. FAI did not sell nearly enough season tickets to Irish supporters as they hoped. They are in serious financial trouble though they gloss over it. They will be delighted to have sold out the stadium tonight, regardless of who they sold them to.

Ireland are second best at the moment but there’s still 45 mins left

Yep I’ve banged my drum for years against the ridiculous ticket pricing in Scotland for what we’re being served up.

It’s even worse for us as Tims at away grounds where you’re entering a turnstile which above it has an entry fee less than you’ve paid for your ticket.

Two simple things will bring crowds back. Lower ticket pricing and 3pm Saturday kick offs.

Can’t see us being in for Keatings and the better King brother (apparently) is down in Swansea.

I’d think we’d be more interested in the their big forward, Sow (think that’s him though haven’t seen much of them)

  11. I believe the Hearts player we are interested in is the Centre Half. – Danny Wilson ?

And Yes, Lawerence Shankland at Aberdeen is the young striker

    Hail Hail

  12. The bhoy Keatings was at Celtic for 6 years, a bad injury held him back at a crucial stage. A firm favourite of Tommy Burns as a young lad.

    Was keatings not at celtic?

    ———–

    Yep.

And no way we would sign Danny Wilson.

Stunning that people seem to forget that these guys are playing the 2nd division, same with Scott Allan. There’s a reason why they are playing in that league.

  14. the_huddle,

Good chance that people are just plucking names of Scottish players from smaller clubs now that we appear to be hinting about buying local from now on after the purchases of Armstrong and Mackay-Steven.

I notice that the guy Sow seems to be doing well for them but its hard to tell how good any of these Hearts players are given the standard of opposition in that division. The boy Zeefuik has scored quite a few and he looks about 18 stone! Maybe with a few months under a Ronny Deila training regime however he could be the next John Hartson!

Re our interest in Hearts player ..I was advised that it’s their youth team skipper not Wilson

  16. PFayr

Maybe it is him then, Winning Captains has hinted at their skipper, which is Wilson

    Hail Hail

  17. Incidentally should have added, wouldn’t surprise me, as our new scottish talent spotter is the ex hearts assistant boss

    Hail hail

  18. Not read back, just in. Re: Scotland

Terrible performance. Very surprisingly terrible given WGS at the helm.

After overcoming the initial shock of Gibraltar equalising, they were there for the taking after half-time.

With decent pressure we could have racked up 9 or 10. But no, relented to playing possession against a team waiting to be horsed.

Lost out big-time on goal difference chances. Mark me words – this time next year we will be rueing the opportunity to have banged in more.

Typical, abject effort against cannon fodder.

Plus side – no Tims injured.

  19. Ireland take throw ins the way we used throw it up the line and hope for the best, more often and not you lose possession
