Fragile limbs

The overwhelming request from an international break is that our players return injury-free.  Nir Bitton made an appearance as a second half substitute against Wales last night but left the field 18 minutes later, with a foot injury.

Nir is in the best form of his life and has carved himself out a deep-lying creative role in the Celtic team.  Central midfield roles don’t come up for grabs too often.  Two of our strongest players, Scott Brown and Stefan Johansen, compete for a small number of central midfield jerseys, although they are different types of players, so it’s important our Nir doesn’t spend too long on the side-lines.

Fraser Forster’s terrible knee injury last weekend was sickening.  The big guy is one of the most professional players in the game and is absolutely dedicated to his development.  His form in the FA Premier League this season has been sensational, recording more shutouts than any other keeper.

It’s a blow to Southampton too, who gave Celtic £10m for Fraser’s services seven months ago.

Sanna – not sure if you’ve put this up already mate, but Martin’s sister Mandy asked me to put this out there:

Hi Mandy can you please send this on

When Martin was in the rehabilitation hospital the kids and I would visit every day and we all slowly came to understand the severity of Martin’s condition.

Martin was there for a year and it broke our hearts to leave him each evening but our hearts were held together by the love and support of not only our friends and family but by the cards, letters, emails and even a bottle of vodka sent to us from Celtic fans from all over the world.

As news spread Martin,s mates from CQN rallied together and fundraised to enable us to modify our house and get Martin back home.

Not only were we grateful for the financial help but you all gave us hope and a feeling of not being alone in this devastating situation we suddenly found ourselves in.

Martin never complained or asked for much, just happy to have a drink with his mates on the porch, watch some football and be with his family in the home we have enjoyed for 23 years.

Thankyou for making that happen and allowing Sean, Alanna and myself 6 more years of cuddles and laughter and the opportunity to learn some valuable lessons not only from Martin but from belonging to a club such as Celtic and what loving support that can bring.

You really made a huge difference to our lives.

We want to sincerely thankyou with all our hearts xxx

    Carolyn Sean and Alanna Kane

    Thanks for posting

    God Bless them all

  10. TTTT, thanks for posting that. That was the letter that was read out at the game just after Martin died when celtic gave him a minute’s applause ( wonderful gesture on their part) . Last night wa s emotional , uplifting and an inspiration. There was a lot of love in the room last night (and beer and vodka) and we will keep going as long as there are kids wanting to go .

Sanna – thought it sounded familiar!

Mandy got an e-mail from Carolyn and she asked me to share it, so put it up here as it was essentially a thank you to CQNers. I was a bit misty eyed myself last night when Mandy & Chloe spoke about Martin.

Massive thanks to you and the rest of TKF trustees for honouring the memory of a remarkable man. His name lives on while TKF continues to grow and prosper.

  17. Really struggle to work up any enthusiasm for International football.

The Kano Foundation is surely one of the best things about Celtic just now .

    Seriously

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We are getting a pittance from these Broadcasters and moving games right, left and centre.

Armageddon has been averted, so there is no reason to take the crap amounts on offer from Sky, from a Celtic perspective, or indeed any top flight Club in Scotland’s perspective.

Make all the games 15:00 on a Saturday.

    No exceptions.

Thankfully we’re now back to focussing on Celtic.

Our record at new St Mirren Park hasn’t been the best and it’s often a difficult game.

A huge task ahead on Friday.

Neither Scoland, Poland nor Ireland showed the same level of intensity , speed of closing or pressing game that Celtic now show every week.

We have come a long way this season.

    ———————

I was thinking the same as I watched, although Ireland got nearer it in the second half.

    Scotland did not need to.

  24. Colin Stein last player to score a hat trick for Scotland in 69.

A team with only Billy and Tam in it.

None of our forwards were better than

    Henderson Gilzean Cooke or Gray.

Actually apart from Stein they were all great players.
