Fragile limbs

The overwhelming request from an international break is that our players return injury-free.  Nir Bitton made an appearance as a second half substitute against Wales last night but left the field 18 minutes later, with a foot injury.

Nir is in the best form of his life and has carved himself out a deep-lying creative role in the Celtic team.  Central midfield roles don’t come up for grabs too often.  Two of our strongest players, Scott Brown and Stefan Johansen, compete for a small number of central midfield jerseys, although they are different types of players, so it’s important our Nir doesn’t spend too long on the side-lines.

Fraser Forster’s terrible knee injury last weekend was sickening.  The big guy is one of the most professional players in the game and is absolutely dedicated to his development.  His form in the FA Premier League this season has been sensational, recording more shutouts than any other keeper.

It’s a blow to Southampton too, who gave Celtic £10m for Fraser’s services seven months ago.

    God bless everyone of them

  4. I’ve no idea how tickets have been distributed for this game but the FAI have done the their team no favours allowing so many Polish supporters in the ground.

Corkcelt – I’d rather be watching Celtic,a proper football team.

Football is a rubbish sport in general these days – you realise that it’s so boring when you are forced to bet on the number of corners in a game because there is nothing else happening.

  6. Huge number of Poles living in Ireland, Hamilton Tim, t’would be hard to stop them getting tickets amongst the Irish Support.

I know there is T I’m just really surprised that quite so many tickets have made their way into the hands of away fans.

  10. Evening folks,

For what it’s worth I think Scotland would be quietly pleased if Ireland lose tonight as it means Scotland would be in a decent position to finish 3rd (play off place). I think Poland and Germany are far and away the two best sides in the group (Scotland’s 2-2 draw in Poland I thought was an excellent result) and Scotland should be happy with a play off place potentially against the likes of Israel, Slovenia, Ukraine and Hungary. If you can’t beat one of those teams over 2 legs you don’t deserve to be in a major tournament.

I think Ireland will finish 4th unless they can take 6 out of 6 points against Scotland and Germany at home. Unlikely.

I can see how a draw might benefit Scotland, but it would also benefit Poland and Germany. Think it might be better if all four teams were on the same points after tonight’s game.

  12. Celticrollercoaster supporting Shay, our bhoy wonder along the way on

Congrats to Sannabhoy and Joe M and the team for all the hard work they do in making The Kano Foundation what it is. Good to catch up with a few CQNers last night at the Kano do.

Was at the Scotland game today with Deccyrollercoaster and saw history made with Gibraltar scoring their first ever goal. Funny game today, in very cold and wet conditions. Never felt that Scotland grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck despite the scoreline. Must admit the chips and from the snack bar were the highlight of the game for me.

    100% agree

  14. I don’t disagree huntlybhoy, but we are not beaten here yet. We look poor but a goal could change everything.

  15. Niall Quinn distraught. Dunno if that’s because of the score or because he is sitting next to McCann.

  16. Corkcelt,

Certainly wouldn’t write Ireland off (especially after the away game v Germany) however given the performances thus far in the group I actually think Poland look the best team (in the truest sense of the word) and I would be surprised if they don’t win the group ahead of the Germans
