On hearing the an arbitration panel decided in their favour and against Hearts and Partick Thistle, SPFL chairman, Murdoch McLennan said “I would fully expect all those involved to agree that no stone was left unturned, no allegation left unanswered.” Chief executive, Neil Doncaster, said it was a “clear, comprehensive and unanimous decision”.
Instead of reflecting on a series of calamitous errors that saw Hearts and Partick bottom of their respective leagues, despite each club having vastly more resources than some who finished clear above them, or on the folly of having their case thrown out of the Court of Session to an arbitration panel, which exposes both clubs to punitive action, Scottish football’s Fran and Anna doubled down on self-righteousness.
Stoking anger is the leadership currency of our era and Thistle’s Jacqui Low got straight to it, “We have every right to be angry. So let’s use that anger as fuel”. Without any sense of self-awareness, she added, “Our fate and our success once again lies in our own hands and our hands only”, ignoring that Partick’s fate has floundered in her hands.
Hearts’ Budge said she was not surprised at the outcome, not least of all because her case had no merit whatsoever, but I get the sense that Hell will freeze over before she considers that were it not for her managerial appointments, and choice of belligerence, when Hearts needed to win support for league reconstruction, her club would still be in the Premiership.
The shambolic attack on the SPFL from a small number of clubs this spring was beyond belligerence. Hearts needed to win support for change. They behaved as though change was their right and support was unimportant. They then acted as though the lack of support they received was illegal.
Support was important, they should have actively sought it. It was not illegal for clubs to vote to end the season and to reject reconstruction in the manner they did. Hearts and Partick’s actions cost them and others unnecessary legal fees, jeopardised the new season and the bizarre jaunt to the Court of Session leaves them open to disciplinary action. With leadership like this, no wonder they finished adrift of Hamilton Accies and Arbroath respectively.
Two weeks after Leigh Griffiths was written off (by some) we all marvelled at his cameo against Hibs yesterday; that shuffle! He is an irrepressible talent and a prodigious goal scorer, with his recent record of absence, he will not attract an offer commensurate with what he provides. My money is on him scoring the goal that seals the 10.

A bit concerning and worrying that we haven’t been linked with any defenders, primarily centre halfs
TIMALOY29 on 29TH JULY 2020 9:54 AM
I agree the draw ‘could’ throw up some tricky away fixtures.
However we should be prepared to play and beat any potential unseeded team home or away which certainly does not have the same desparity without supporters .
Why are people questioning a guys motives for going home, for a couple of days to think over his future.
He is not steeped in Celtic.Probably never been to Scotland.Probably knows very little about the SPFL.Its a big carreer decision. Not in any way saying we should sign him,but as its only a loan, initially,we have nothing to lose.I also watched his You Tube video. He is rough, tough, version of Gary Hooperto me.With our opponents, maybe not a bad thing.Anywayhow can anyone write someone off,who has never played a game for us.And we tried to sign him before,so homework done.
St Tams,
Do you know any defenders we could be interested in.Someone mentioned Socrates from Arsenal, but was straight away, shot down.Very difficult position to fill.We look at Ajer, not even the finished article, and we would want around 25 million for him.We would need to be lucky,I think.
TURKEYBHOY on 29TH JULY 2020 10:05 AM
Err, sorry but who are you talking about?
On the balance of probabilities ,it’s maybe better if Toney
doesn’t sign , his names a bit close to an ex player and it might confuse the klan …🙈🙊🙉😜
Think Bayo could do with a loan period at another Scottish club to try to get him upto speed with the game in this country his game time with us has been somewhat limited. To be honest I haven’t been too impressed by what I’ve seen so far but getting game time elsewhere may be the making of him.Would I rather have Fletcher than Bayo for next season ? Yes but I would prefer Toney or Andersson from Union Berlin who is very dangerous in the air, something we have missed in recent times.Could show some ambition and buy both and have them prepared for when Eddy does leave (hopefullytil not until next year).
I am not being sarcastic here but I have not followed summer signing in and out events over at ibrox.
Could someone explain to me where the ‘new’ aura of confidence and belief is coming from for the new season ahead.
I have seen ‘cjnovo?’ on youtube season predictions and of course he is full of beans about his team and of course tipped them for first place.
I understand any supporter at the start of a season expecting big things from his club.
But putting my level head on here all I can see changed at the moment between both sides is that Celtic have lost a really good goalkeeper who they might or might not have replaced with a really good goalkeeper.
Other than that I have not seen much change in either starting XI.
Neil Lennon,Mc Cartney,
I have no idea.Probably just blethering on.If you mean,Ajeti, well yes, many fans think when we come calling, players should jump at the chance. Not just in his case,I have heard this regularly.
LAZYDYNAMITE,
You are not keeping up to date with the gushings coming out of our media. Why only today,we have them nearly signing a guy from relegated French club,Amiens, who has chosen the Huns over a few Spanish clubs, because he has always loved Liverpool, and Seethin is his Idol.Who would want to play in Majorca, for Gods sake.Keep up man.
DAVID66 and MELBOURNE MICK….
Ive been making up for lost “Drinking” time….Ive been out drinking for 4 days outta the last 6 days…with an average of maybe 12/14 Pints of my Beer each time ?
LOL……Great fun.
I will be going out sometime Today…maybe around 1pm and have a few while watching Glorious Goodwood on TV.
I dont like to make much comment on Incoming Players to Celtic…until they are signed ?
LOL
I hope that you are both well……and DAVID66…Let me know when you wish to meet up at my Local for a good swally ?
HH
Watched the Hiberian friendly and thought Klimala did well also impressed by Luca and Karamoko hopefully all 3 will make a telling contribution in the coming season.
Any idea yet if UEFA have decided on regional subgroups for CL draw
you know sensible idea to have wee teams travelling less and this year I presume to
countries that have a travel corridor
Made sens last year sending us to Sarajevo …. Rollseyesthingy
I see Jan Vertongen has finished with Surs.A big, left sided defender,of some class.33 years old.Is he worth a punt?
THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM on 29TH JULY 2020 9:41 AM
‘Referee Kevin Clancy says he and other officials are well aware what is at stake this season, as Celtic attempt to secure a record 10 titles in a row’ (The Herald).
I’m sure they are.
THE BLOGGER, well the first muppet put to the test is none other than our own Uncle Tim, ‘Eyes in the back of my head’ Billy Gollum. No doubt he will be patient and wait his chance, but . ….well, IF there is a wee chance to do his Masters’ bidding wee Billy will be right in there.
Rattle in few and rattle them in early and take the Uncle Tim out of the equation.

lol
Luckily I only get my news from Celtic sites and Never buy newspapers let alone scottish newspapers as i live in england.
On second thoughts, that looks like a back 3 to take us on,
Ajer,Jullien,Vertongen.
LAZYDYNAMITE,
I live in Turkey, and its still not far enough away from them.

We can prepare yes.
But bear in mind, this is still a one-off game away from home abroad. One mistake or one dodgy ref decision is all it takes.
I’m not betting my house on CL qualification just cause we are seeded. It’s more of a lottery than ever.
Bada
Apologies if headed to my scratcher before seeing your reply
I can’t see us paying the sort of wages for him not to play regularly (from experience the older you get the more regular you need to play to make a difference, if he comes in fair enough he could def do a job if we (and I’d expect we would) managed his game time properly
We signed anybody yet 🙄

There will be better-paying gigs out there than Celtic.
He’s been linked with Wolves, Manchester United, Manchester City and Inter Milan
A nice wee trip to Norn Iron to batter Linfield would be nice

I don’t think… Sokratis is one for us.

Yes.
Interminable arrogance and stupidity.
:)
We have some midfield.
Leigh is Looking Really Good.
The wee man behind the strikers worked.
I hope we get Euro glory as well as the 10.
new article posted.

I’m guessing League Cup Final where they ‘played us off the park’ (think Ryan Christie actually said that to a journalist) and proved once and for all that “there is no gap’ (think Alex Rae has said that many times)
Fraser Forster done an Andy Goram on them when we won that final but from memory we were carrying many injuries and started with Lewis Morgan up front as our only striker. Mikey Johnston should have made it 2 which would have shut them up but he blew it and we now have to listed to how lucky we were :-)

Barkas, I take it? I agree he has a big decision to make ~ hope it’s the right one!
