France spotlight and following up with more young Les Bleus for Celtic

244

What a football fan wants most from the World Cup final is a clear and worthy winner.  Instead, there is a feeling that everything that could have gone wrong for Croatia, did so.  They attacked more, were on the receiving end of a very unfortunate penalty, put the ball into their own net and will forever live with the sense of what could have been.

France eased their way to the trophy throughout the tournament without being spectacular.  Their 2-0 quarter-final win over Uruguay and yesterdays’ final were the only occasions they won a game by more than a single goal.

The more interesting element of France’s development as a football powerhouse is what didn’t happen at Russia.  The legacy of Guy Roux, who educated the nation on how to develop natural young talent into tier one achievers, fills every top league in Europe today.  Celtic’s young Les Bleus are a remarkable example of this.

The win will turn the spotlight onto French football, as a consequence, following up on the signing of Dembele, Ntcham and Eduard will be more difficult.  Let’s hope that the wealthy in England are fully focussed on taking advantage of the obvious superiority of the English academy system.

Can you imagine if these eejits fostered a spirit of co-operation with China rather than poking them with a sharp stick all the time.

The Anglos are getting spanked in the business world, bad loser attitude abounds. Trumps ” Art Of The Deal” bollocks just doesn’t hold up in the political world, it’s divisive and works off of the winner loser paradigm when surely everyone wins would be a much better and safer direction for all of us.

“Rangers chairman Dave King will appear in court after failing to pay an ordered £11 million bid for the majority

    of the club’s shares.

The Scottish businessman is to face a contempt of court hearing in Edinburgh on Friday for missing a deadline to make an offer to the Ibrox shareholders in March after a court order.

King, 62, was previously told he breached takeover rules by refusing to make the bid and ordered to pay the money by business watchdog the Takeover Panel and Court of Session.

Missing Murdoch MacLennan may require his own cave rescue as it’s time SPFL chief fronted up – Michael Gannon

The Takeover Panel ruled in 2016 he had worked “in consort” with a trio of businessmen – the so-called Three Bears – to take control of Rangers by acquiring a combined 34 per cent stake.

However the Ibrox chairman argued the ruling forcing him to make a compulsory bid of 20p a share went “too far”.

He was taken to court last year after he flouted the demand which would total a sum of about £11million.

King’s lawyer told a hearing in the Court of Session last year that his client was “penniless” because his money was tied up in offshore and onshore trusts in the King family name.

But in February this year, he was ordered to make the payment by the court and a month later it was revealed a company called Laird Investments (Proprietary) Limited would make the share payment.

It was said Laird was a South African-based company owned by a trust which King and his family are beneficiaries.

The Takeover Panel document said they ordered King to have a third party UK account opened on Laird’s behalf so they had the “necessary cash confirmation”.

They said King later emailed them to say Laird was having difficulty negotiating South African “exchange control regulations” for transferring money out of the country and later asked for an extension of the deadline – something later refused by the Takeover Panel.

The panel went on to say that King missed the deadline for the money to be transfer and told how they had emailed King of “intention to initiate contempt proceedings” if that happened.”

    At last……

Fans were fuming and complained about being treated as ‘criminals’.

And today SLO John Paul Taylor has confirmed that he has set up a meeting with Police Scotlands FoCUS (Football Coordination Unit for Scotland).

One Celtic fan posted a snap of an officer clearly pointing a camera at supporters to Twitter and added: “Filming and harassing fans during a non event friendly.

“The Act is gone, but fans are for now, still viewed and treated as potential criminals. This needs to change.”

And Taylor responded through his Celtic FC SLO account, saying: “Have set up a meeting with FoCUS about this, as always you’d be most welcome to attend, let me know if you’d like to thanks.”
