Fraught preseason, instinct ruling head

657

Really pleased Leigh Griffiths is back in the Scotland squad, it’s just reward for his work this season, although the prospect of having so many Celtic players on international duty in June is an unwelcome one, considering we’ve Champions League qualifiers to prepare for in July.  Preseason is already looking fraught.

I’d convinced myself I wasn’t too bother if newco are promoted this season or not, all the big battles have been won and lost.  I realised differently when I received a text yesterday saying Queens were a goal up.  Your instinct can tell you things your head can’t.

Another season of lower league football will drain them of an additional £10m, which I don’t think they have, but I don’t think they have enough money to complete a season in the top flight either.  It doesn’t matter if the boat sinks in 50m of water or 50km, there would be a deficit in either league.  Viability remains the subject of undocumented fantasy, cannon fodder-dom awaits in the top flight, ignominious avoidance in the lower leagues.

If Mike Ashley cuts them some slack, they will eventually be a top 12 club.  When they are, Celtic will earn an extra £4m from ticket sales and indirect incremental income, enough to make a difference on the field.  Similar income will go to Ibrox, but this isn’t enough to fund a turnaround.  My preference would be to have both Hibs and Hearts back next season but I’m chilled either way.

Very last call for the Ben Nevis Huddle, which takes place on Saturday 13 June in aid of the Celtic Foundation.  If you’re up for it, sign up here…..

Not very often I disagree with the estimable TBB but this is one of them.

I have looked and saw the third best team in the second division overcoming the fourth by the narrowest of margins. To now beat the team second in the division is less likely and to then go on and beat a Premier League side over two games is more unlikely still.

Of course it can happen, I just can`t see it 0:-)

Why hasn’t Leigh Griffiths come out and said he’s not interested in going to Leeds I wonder, the speculation is going to continue until he does, and a million quid! who are they kiddin, Gary Hooper’s price tag is the going rate. For a million quid they might get Amido Balde, or Teemu Pukki, but certainly not our current top goal scorer – in spite of being benched for most of the season.

Ref earlier post,I agree the Board seem to want their return which I think is shameful, had the position been reversed they would have wanted us gone.

I also think the lack of action over the past 3 years has turned many off, despite PL’s comment when challenged, to a small group in the Executive suite, that “we have to tread carefully here re peoples safety” now I accept that’s a commendable stance, however that level of repercussion would not have occurred had we at least gone after the recent refereeing debacle.

For me it does not wash,Iain Bankier very poor, how much that curtails PL I dont know.

Queen of the South were victims of two major wrong calls over the two games both led to goals….

Andrew Dallas affects the Motherwell game getting a player sent off and a team into the play off spot.

Dougie Dougie is reinstated as referee whatever….

No sign of improvement in that front then…

The Rangers International FC will not be back in the league even if they get promoted. …we need to watch our language to ensure that this is misconstrued….

Sadly won’t see Hibs game to judge refereeing…by the way anyone know who’s got that gig?
