Seven goal scores are remarkably scarce in football but for the second time this month we look ahead to a Champions League opponent who has recently scored that number in a single game. Helsingborgs went to town on Swedish Allsvenskan side Kalmar yesterday. Kalmar are struggling in the league this season but were faring better in Europe until Young Boys of Berne overturned a Europa League deficit against them on Thursday.
Form appears to vary widely in the Swedish league, not idea circumstances for placing a bet.
Midweek friendly internationals will not help Neil Lennon’s preparations as Celtic face the third of five games on the road in the Highlands on Saturday before heading to Sweden, especially as the early season injury count rises inexplicably. I would caution against risking too much on a bet on the Ross County game for this reason. County’s remarkably year-long run without a league defeat might stretch another week.
The first issue of CQN Magazine of the new season is due to be with you soon. If you would like to contribute an article to a future edition let me know, articles@cqnmagazine.co.uk. Final shout also for anyone who would like to advertise to the same address.

Hedgehogs ?
Why can’t they just share the hedge ?
Some one mentioned earlier a 5 million pound bid for Izzy.
I would be all over that one. Izzy is nowhere near his form of two years ago and after being hobbled last year does not seem to have any confidence and his defensive play is suspect, I don’t think he will return to player of the year form.

I wonder why no-one is questioning Fat Sally’s 3-5-2 and its abysmal failure.

Sorry I missed your post, just back in.
I would recommend getting the train, either from Lisbon or the Estoril/Cascais direction. Can only guess its just under one mile walk from the train station and you can just about see the floodlights, just head off in that direction. Got a lot of cars tooting/waving when they saw the hoops.
Next visit I will have a few beers in a coolbox for company.

Glen Daly @13:21,
I heard that about Johnson too. Was supposedly a bit tipsy at training ! Not a great idea. Don’t know why it hasn’t worked out for him at Wolves but I think he could do a job for us, if his head was in the right place. Sutton was a flop at Chelsea, Thompson at Aston Villa. If Neil Lennon can use the man management skills he has shown with Mulgrew and Samaras then perhaps he could do a job on Johnson too.

I would rather sell Ki to be honest and bring in another CF and CB.
How Leckie warned the Huns fifteen years ago:
Leckie in 1997
“All I can say is, massive respect is due to Rangers – and Muz in particular – for keeping Brian Laudrup in the game.
And before all you Celtic fans – including the one standing over me with a
rolling pin as I write this – start giving it the there-ye-go-ah-always-
knew-he-was-wanna-them paranoia, remember one thing.
Rangers also beat you when Laudrup WASN’T playing.
This time last week I was all set to write a piece on how they had finally,
eventually, taken the leap forward they’ve threatened for so long; but then
the news broke that their greatest asset was leaving.
Suddenly all the summer’s advances – the arrival of a foreign coach, the
signing of Thern and two top-drawer defenders, the Defenders lost their
sheen.
You wondered just what a downer there would be on the day their Great Dane
went walkies for good.
A couple of seasons ago, last summer even, you wouldn’t have bet tuppence on
Muz being able to talk the boy round. But something has happened at Ibrox,
something you can’t put your finger on, which seems to have propelled them
into a different orbit.
And so, as Ajax sat back waiting with a spacecake and an Oranjeboom and
Fergie came out gloating that the player was his, Muz quietly got down to
the business of making Laudrup stay.
Were I a Celtic man, I would be so afraid. No manager, no sign of a manager,
two biggest names threatening to do a bunk, no sign of new blood, season
ticket holders in a major huff.
Call me picky, but things do not look good. And hell mend them.
I cannot believe how quickly and how far Fergus McCann has allowed things to
slip, especially after Tommy Burns took them so close.
It is easy to say now that Burns was a failure, but what is nearer to the
truth is that he was a very good manager with the wrong club.
The closer he got to toppling Rangers, the more his emotional attachment to
Celtic overtook the rational thinking his job required.
Others would disagree, but I reckon Burns will go on to be a huge success
elsewhere, starting in King Kenny’s bootroom at the Toon.
What is not up for argument, though, is that Celtic are in a far worse state
without him than they were with him. Rangers are leaving them further and
further behind with every passing day and there is no white smoke from the
Parkhead chimney to signal a comeback.
The Ibrox men are, I reckon, one more signing away from finally leaving
their greatest rivals – and, therefore, the rest of us – so far behind them
they will be no more than a dancing dot on the horizon.
Who is that signing? I’d go for Batistuta – though Muz says no – but whoever
they end up with he will be big time and he will be here soon.
It’s enough to make any Celtic fan hide behind the couch. Sorry? Oh, you
already are.”

Johnson confidence a bit sort that’s al. Sutton and Larsson had a season like that before moving to Celtic. Same Stubbs and Petrov and a few others.
Think it will be a good signing iif we got him. Though we should have went for him instead of Loovens before he went to Birmingham.
Sign Joquin Boghassain though. Sutton and Hooijdonk in this guy.
NEILMCCALLUMLENNON, cheers.

Star striker Fernando Llorente has told Athletic Club he will not be signing a new contract with the side from La Liga, club president Josu Urrutia has revealed.
The 27-year-old Llorente’s current contract with Athletic runs out in June 2013 and Urrutia said he was informed last week by the player’s representatives that the Spain international had decided he would not be renewing his deal.
“I conveyed my disappointment but they told me he only wants to play for Celtic,” said Urrutia.

Kindly stop saying things like “Ross County are one of the better teams in the Greater Dingwall-Peterhead area”. Now I have to try to explain to my work colleagues why I’m laughing :-)
Anyone else think Wilson played a blinder on Saturday.
Darcy Blake of Cardiff, 23 year old Welsh International CB who has refused to sign a new contract as he wants regular football.
I am sure Matthews and Ledley will have told him all about us…
A Bill Leckie.
Laptop Loyalist supreme.
Isn’t it amazing how they all knew and told us for so many years about the road to ruin in Govan yet none of us can find one article telling us that from the usual suspects yet we can find a plethora of speculate to accumulate piffle and wild praise for “Muz”, “the Mint” and the other pet names for a now somewhat silent unless it suits him former owner?
It would be amazing if it were vaguely true but we all know the truth and the Internet remembers their fairytales and sycophancy.
they are only credible if they are dealing with peepel or folk with the memory of a Goldfish.
Laughable really.
Quick question folks, just ordered my Helsingborgs tickets over the phone and the guy told me that no tickets will be issued just use the season cards? Anyone else been told this? never known it to be done this way before.
Also the charge by phone is £4.50!
£1.50 looks like a bargain to me!
BlantyreKev @12.32,
Does all of that mean that Airdrie United fans are actually supporting Clydebank these days by mistake? Does the SFA share transfer mean that Airdrie United inherited Clydebank’s history instead of being a brand new club?
Whodathunkit.

You do know I was kidding :O( saddle up an ride yir pony,
Fernando Llorente .?
Reported to be currently earning 4.5 million Euros a year ..
Serious Italian fitba media claim .-
Juve offered 18 million euros and were told he costs 36 million .
Inter offered 20 million euros and were told he costs 36 million euros..
Same outlets claim Spurs and Arsenal are interested in him but neither will pay what Bilbao want
Ki not for the off then…
“Ki will be back this week, and that’s a huge bonus for us,” said the manager.
“He’ll be fit and will not need any extra work, and it will be like having a new player come into the squad.”
Sabre67
On the SFL website, if you click onto Airdrie, you’ll see that their history is that of Clydebank’s. Formed in 1965 and no honours.
There is no mention of any of the honours old Airdrie won in years gone by.
So the precendent is set.
Now have a look at Sevco’s. It’s all included.

Snake Plissken – Somebody has probably posted this already but here’s the sort of stuff Bill Leckie was writing 15 years ago:

Re: Sevco.
The argument from the Sevconians has two limbs:
>>>>>>>>
I hear the the ‘Sevconian’ position more and more often these days. They are obviously going for the old ‘if you say it often enough, eventually it becomes the truth’ approach. However both limbs of the argument are vacuous.
1) The club is not the company: If this is the case, who paid the players during the 9 in a row ? Was it ‘the club’ or was it ‘the company. If the ephemeral entity they are calling ‘the club’ paid their wages, paid the Tax and National Insurance contributions (No sniggering at the back!) Then they have every right to make that assertion. Maybe Laudrup, Stevens, Flo and Hurlock enjoyed the spoils of all the pixie dust or magic beans they were sated by the magical entity called ‘the club’ that has managed to avoid the ‘financial armageddon’ (No stop it back there- that’s enough!) that was going on outside the faery bubble it found itself in.
However, I’ve a niggling suspicion that the players that won 9 in a row for them, and every other player that put on ‘the club’ jersey before and after that were paid by a LEGAL entity that was LEGALLY obliged to pay them, and provide all sorts of other LEGAL protections and indemnities, to the players (a.k.a it’s employees) That legal entity was Rangers Football Club‘ , Renamed in July 31st to ‘RFC 2012 P.L.C’ soon to be liquidated. Company Registration Number: SC004276 Registration Date: 27/05/1899.
2) Celtic: The Company (Registered as a member at the SFA) and the Club: Celtic PLC Registration Number: SC003487 Registration Date: 12/04/1897 Formally known as ‘The Celtic Football and Athletic Company Limited. That is all that needs to be said there.
