Raith Rovers may be seventh in the Championship and 20 points behind Scott Brown’s Ayr United, but none of us who have been here for a while will be taking them lightly in the Scottish Cup tomorrow.
The Kirkcaldy side were in the hunt for promotion until the wheels came off their challenge since the turn of the year. So far, 2025 has delivered only one win in the league and one in the cup, when they eliminated Falkirk.
Falkirk demonstrated what Championship sides can do at Celtic Park in September’s League Cup tie. They held the lead until the roof fell in at 70 minutes.
When interviewed after the Dundee game on Wednesday, Brendan Rodgers was keen to talk only about the Raith game, not Wednesday’s Champions League tie. In reality, plans for the Dundee game and tomorrow’s cup tie will were both constructed with Munich in mind. Let’s get through to the quarters without fuss.
Celtic fans’ reputation being dragged through the mire by free-loaders to the point where we need to hope for clemency from Uefa before being allowed to attend a game is enraging. There is always another free-loader and it will lead to a crackdown which will cause harm to our community.

once i read those pages, the bans, fines, stadium section closures are all very consistent,
effectively we were on a 2 year probation since october, these fans that cannot follow the rules, surely celtic know who has the tickets.

Our play off qualifier will be against the champions of
Switzerland – basel lugano
Austria – strum graz austria vienna or rapid vienna
Norway – Bodo Glimt
BR said Taylor hasn’t signed a pre contract with Zagreb, and still hopes he stays
Funnily enough our cup home games, with lesser in attendnance have been noiser and more enjoyable for me, a different crowd turning up, seem more grateful to actually be there.
—
im not sure about the ‘lesser in attendance’ bit.
the killie game had a bigger crowd at it than plenty of the league games this season, despite celtic announcing that those league games had bigger attendences when they clearly didnt, but we know about the ‘official’ league attendence story so no need to go back over it.
but as you say, there is definitely a lot of a different crowd turned up for that killie game compared to league games which is good, and i expect the same tomorrow.

I do hope you get well soon and back to fitness

Lets call it what it is- a CORPORATE free loader as every ticket given out in that lower tier was to the corporate season ticket holders.ban them as that,as has already been shown worked with Celtic fans called the green brigade when they were shut out.

Our reputation is being dragged through mire because of the behaviour of some of our own fans, Paul. I am less offended at a Pyro than I am singing songs about a dead Monarch, but the former is banned and the latter is simply indecent. We don’t need to look far for indecent songs from Ibrox, and we all know this isn’t commented on, but our own board make no statements on this matter despite it getting more and more vile every season. Total complete and utter head in the sand cowards. Why? Because some of them will have their hand in the trough and no the handshakes all too well. Elements of our fan base make a day out at the football unattractive for our OWN support, never mind causing offence elsewhere. Rather than defend atrocious conduct, let’s call it out and tidy up the behaviour.
Tangbhoy
You are a tad to much(pre)offended,i wouldnt be to hard on the smoke bomb thrower who got his ticket of a corporate season ticket holder,he may face a ban for dragging our club ‘thro’ the mire’
Oh wait thats not what you are (pre)offended about
You are (pre)offended about Lizzie being in a box
Tough sup it up.
The priveleged scum(cabal of freaks) stopped the Turks sending aid to Ireland during the intended Genocide 1841-51 as it would embarass Victorias pitiful donation,it was 3 times the amount.
That is priveleged cowardice,
Celtic was founded by a generation of the diaspora scattered all over the globe as food went to feed the empire.
A support that never had any sympathy for monarchy even tho many perished in the family war that was ww1,being irish meant they were dehumanized by royal arselickers.no blacks,no dogs no irish
I have been goin to see Celtic since the late60s,the rebs were sung then, beer bottles gettin thrown,we self policed, every generation of Celtic fan has had their difficulty with the older, preoffended generation, many old uncles talked of police wading in to confiscate tricolours and symbols of ireland.
You are the latest to come out with your ‘vile’preoffendedness,it will pass, another generation will come along and they will get the same grief and faux snob pash. They are Celtic fans, thats why the Board dont react they have since 1888 had experience of Celtic fans singing songs of ireland
You are not calling out nothing that previous generations have not done before, you calling Celtic fans cowards is vacuous, and a wee exhibition of preoffendedness is laughable.
I guess you are embarassed at Celtic being the most successful beacon of the irish diaspora at work on the planet,it will continue to evolve for future generations to enjoy
Hail Hail
CelticTV on YouTube currently airing a very interesting and entertaining interview with world-renowned composer, conductor & Celtic supporter Sir James McMillan.
Well worth a viewing.
speaking of indecent songs – the ‘bhoys’ were all grouped up in the top tier at fir park last week, and gleefully singing the davie cooper song.
what is wrong with these people?
looking at them i dont even think half of them were in high school yet but thats no excuse.
but how do they all get tickets? they dont look to be old enough to have been to every away game for the past 50 years which seems to be the criteria!
my guess is that a lot of them get tickets from family members who are corportate fat cats who take tickets for away games but dont go and so pass them out to family like them
that is possibly how the villa smoke bomber got his ticket

Imagine Celtic having to play in a Champions League qualifier with no fans because someone wanted to play with a flare…
Sinisalo to replace Schmeichel between the sticks tomorrow.
I wonder if the guy who let off the flare/smoke bomb at the Villa game will get a ticket for Bayern one 🤔

Another effect of the poor attendance is that the supporters buses take such a long time to return to base. The police control on to the Gateway Road is poor.
Our base in normal times is on Southside is 15 minutes but on a night match 75 minutes or more often arriving after 11 at night. With work the following day this is an issue
It also explains the early departure to beat the traffic
Our bus is also suffering and need 44 at £7 to break even. Last night only 30 turned up. There is no bus on Saturday.
Away tickets reduced allocation affects the bus numbers
The future of our bus is in the balance
Away tickets reduced allocation affects the bus numbers
brings up a question for me, of who actually gets the away tickets ?
2 local busses here only go to home games as they are relatively new.
3 port cscs have often went shared a bis for away games.
the fattest cattest getith the cup final tickets an awe.
i think the concept of a single CSC getting enough tickets to affordibly run a bus to away games (without sharing a bus with other CSCs) should almost be a thing of the past given reduced allocations, apart from maybe places like st johnstone and livi.
yet i hear of buses getting what seems like an overly proportionate number of tickets for some games meaning they have good contacts in the ticket office.
again this is part of the away ticket scam.
it shouldnt matter whether you go to an away game by bus or canoe, you shouldnt be given priority for tickets.
does anyone even know how away ticket allocations work anymore ?
i could join the list last time.
lets all do the huddle on 7th February 2025 5:36 pm
Even in the 70’s and 80s it was who you knew in the ticket office that determines your allocation. Nothing has changed over 40 years later….

This isn’t, at all, apropos any current topic but, by chance I saw Graham Spiers interview C4’s Alex Thompson on YouTube. Thompson expressed astonishment at the leniency of the punishments meted out to RFC. In particular, he cited the SFA’s failure to strip that club of titles gained illegally.
It now appears that individuals at various levels of Scottish society colluded to make sure that a second Rangers would arise from the ashes with much of its ‘culture’ intact. That happened and it is still happening despite the selfless work of heroes like Auldheid and the late SFTB. Jim Spence is also due a special mention – sacked by the BBC for being caught in possession of integrity.

If i remember that same article/podcast Alex Thompson counter balances the lack of title stripping with the Cbc case, expressing astonishment that there was no convictions unlike in England.

I know diddly squat about leadership.
I have watched YT of BR talking to the suad, doing pre game prep and vision or ‘what is going to win us the game’ speeches and powerpoints!
Any leaders on tonight ?
Wat I’ve picked up on, honestly don’t know what I’m talking about but he talks to the group and goals and targets but it comes across as meaning summat to individuals.
any thoughts ?

i studied business, and leadership syles was one of the core subjects.
i applied many of the lesson to how i managed my part of the business, and much more importantly the people who worked for me, their improvement to deliver better outcomes………… but it took me 30 years to get there.
i was lucky enough to work for several outstanding leaders, but also met hundreds more promoted way beyond their capabilities. they tended to be one subject wonders, and bombastic with it.
externally in my job though i got to hire multiple organisations, who my old self wouldnt have liked, but my business self got to respect them a lot.
one of them was at davos last week, and i thought how far you have come since presnting to me as a client.
brendan is, in my humble opinion a top level executive, very modern, very intelligent, and would be a success in any field he had worked in.
authentic , and always learning, success comes through your people, and he does , operating up the way and down the way.
tuppence worth.
I think,we will see no Pyros in Munich.
UEFA have for once took a sensible approach,as it was one fud.Celtic,I am sure will issue warnings of lifetime bans to any offenders.
They love their away days,as did I in the past, immensely, you will see the difference.
as a ps.
i dont mind ego when the person has the successes to justify it.
but i also know a couple of billionaires who were amongst the most humble people i ever met, and spent their fortunes helping the employees who got them there.
as a ps to that ps.
i have also met dozens of cqn-ers who are outstanding leaders, are capabple on more than one subject, and could listen to their opinion and expertise for hours.
someone mentioned hamiltontim earlier, as an example, an execpional fella.

Thanks for the link to the James MacMillan interview, fascinating stuff.
Not just on music, and Celtic but on his early years at Primary School down in Ayrshire, and growing up surrounded by a Celtic family, and Celtic supporters at school. Not to mention the coal-mining grandfather.
Found plenty coal-miners from that part of Scotland in my own family search via Scotland’s People etc.
