Free-loaders, Uefa clemency

185

Raith Rovers may be seventh in the Championship and 20 points behind Scott Brown’s Ayr United, but none of us who have been here for a while will be taking them lightly in the Scottish Cup tomorrow.

The Kirkcaldy side were in the hunt for promotion until the wheels came off their challenge since the turn of the year.  So far, 2025 has delivered only one win in the league and one in the cup, when they eliminated Falkirk.

Falkirk demonstrated what Championship sides can do at Celtic Park in September’s League Cup tie.  They held the lead until the roof fell in at 70 minutes.

When interviewed after the Dundee game on Wednesday, Brendan Rodgers was keen to talk only about the Raith game, not Wednesday’s Champions League tie.  In reality, plans for the Dundee game and tomorrow’s cup tie will were both constructed with Munich in mind.  Let’s get through to the quarters without fuss.

Celtic fans’ reputation being dragged through the mire by free-loaders to the point where we need to hope for clemency from Uefa before being allowed to attend a game is enraging.  There is always another free-loader and it will lead to a crackdown which will cause harm to our community.

  2. I have my doubts about anything Phil writes and his claim to have a well-placed Celtic source. In my opinion, he builds a narrative around what is already out in the public domain and embeliishes it with titbits, rumours and made up stuff.

He can dine out forever on what he published around the time of liquidation when he was well ahead of the MSM with his Ibrox mole.

Now? I seriously doubt anyone is leaking him details of what we were offering players in the last 2-3 weeks. Only a very small number of people would be privy to that.

  3. Anyhoo , how do you have time to come on here when there is an abundance of tropical things you could be doing, unless your back in bonny Scotland lol.

Re the b’ham smoke bomb- that came from corporate.

Its odd it does not bring the same pile on as it would had it been a GB flare.

Whoever- its wrong and should not be done

The brummies i know had a rare time with the Celtic fans.

When were we everyones favourite team in Scotland? And what gave you that impression?

  5. Enjoyed Coldplays rendition of Sunshine on Leith on BBC piano room this week.

Chris Martin said he hadn’t heard of the song until some showed him the Hibs supporters singing it… suppose it was 2016 final , watched it on YouTube again couldn’t believe how many ex Celts were involved that day…..…..What an Anthem 👍☘️

Such a shame to see Chris Sutton prostitute himself to get a gig at the DR.

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world if he suffers the loss of his own soul?

  8. For those who feel victory this evening is guaranteed, let me say this :

Leyton Orient 1 Manchester City 0. 52 minutes played.

  9. Big deflection of a team-mate makes it 1-1.

PS I have very little interest in English football . I only mentioned this one as it is on Council Telly and Orient were one up.

If you’re staying overnight at your mums we could get a beer in the vaults once I’m back from the game if you like .

Good luck to the Celts today. Looking forward to a totally different me attending the match, though I really hope this different me is still a Celtic supporter.

A heavy looking situation on the Gateway at the Jennyburn corner caused our busload to miss Calmac’s presentation as well as the first few minutes of the game on Wednesday. Fingers crossed everyone involved came away from that scene ok.

I’d leave out our core guys today, with Tony and Greg at fullback. In fact, GT as captain. Let him show us how he pushes a team forward when he’s in charge.

    Celtic forever

  14. Sutton clearly has not been listening to BR who admitted the club is lighter, I take that to mean we could be short on numbers to step up if needed, instead he goes on about planning and spending , he is also someone who failed as a manager part of which is recruiting the right players ,like mccoist he has no right to criticise other people’s work when he and them could not do the job required.

    Street football

This Corporation tram is on its way to St Vincent Place c 1920, but the passers-by are more interested in the game of football taking place in the road. Many of the players are in their bare feet – and the “ball” appears to be a vegetable!

  16. CELTIC: Sinisalo, Ralston, Murray, Scales, Schlupp, McGregor (c), McCowan, Bernardo, Kühn, Yang, Maeda

Subs: Bain, Taylor, Jota, Idah, Nawrocki, Kenny, Engels, Hatate

  17. On Sinisalo. I was watching a Finnish detective TV show on channel 4. An actress in it was called Anu Sinisalo. I couldn’t find any family links between her and Viljami, but his Grandfather Veikko Sinisalo was quite a significant actor in Finland. Means hee-haw about today’s game, but it’s amazing how supporting Celtic leads you down many different pathways!
