Freedom of the chaser

141

The stadium displays at Tynecastle after Monday’s win over Newco proclaimed, “3 to go”.  Good enough for Hearts, but that is the wrong message.  There is only one game Celtic need to worry about and that’s against Newco on Sunday.  Prepare for it, play it like we are playing to win the title.  The games to come, or what happens elsewhere, is not important.  Nothing else matters.  We have a one game season.  Win it and let the future take care of itself.

Celtic are on an impressive run.  After six away games in seven matches, a run which could have ended our season but resulted in only one reversal (at Tannadice), we have developed a cadence of winning.  As the chaser in the title race, all Martin O’Neill could do is win the next game and see what happens.  It was a luxury to be able to forget about everything else.  It is freeing.  We have nothing to lose and everything to win.

Hearts players, fans and officials will not be able to help themselves count down the games to come.  It is a mistake.  For me, Sunday cannot come soon enough.

The Green Brigade need to be helped themselves.

    They are weak.

And they demonstrated that when the PLC snapped their fingers and asked the GB to come back and cheer the team on and pull the PLC out of a ditch.

If you are weak the PLC Sharks will eat you!

    Somebody tell the GB quick!

Real rebels would have let the PLC burn in the cleansing fire in the ditch.

    The GB soulled out.

That weakness will win Zero war.

If the GB were ever in the JUNGLE then they too would have boooed Laurie Cunningham, Viv Anderson, Mark Walters.

So the virtue signaling GB would also have been racists.

Everybody was a racist until the settlers appeared with their religious books, and soon after that, Paganism, Celticism, Vikingism, Africanism, etc, races were banned, now only one group are allowed to be racist aha, but everybody else is evil if they promote their own race, and protect their bloodline from these new religious mod-cons that have conned the world for 270+ years, with books based on events from thousands of years ago, how convenient.

Praying to our creator when there is actually a race of creators, yeah there is.

Church buildings are not what we have been told they are.

These buildings were healing centers as you’ll discover in the video at the end of this post.

Do you think if religion was true we’d be allowed to know about it?

    Everybody is on a journey.

This isn’t moon howling, people trying to convey the truth are smeared by those who fear that truth being spread to others.

  6. Hello CQN

With a few days to go until the CP “blockbuster” I feel a lot less confident than many on here about that game and our title chances.

I think we have left ourselves too much to do and one wobble from what is, let’s face it, a weak team will do us in completely. That or mibbery of which there was plenty on display on Sunday, could put the tin lid on it.

I admire the “ we can still do it” attitude and of course we can but the body of evidence from this team for almost the whole season is riddled with disappointing and weak performances. That being the case I’m not sure where anyone gets confidence from. Clearly hope l’m wrong and I’ll be there for home games but we’ve lost last two at home to R2ngers, haven’t beat Hertz in 3 goes this season and M’well hosed us last time out at Fir Park – that is not confidence inspiring stats in my book.

Our board and executive should have a look at that last sentence and have a long hard think about how they have contributed to it.

Well that was an uplifting post. I hope my fellow Celts in attendance on Sunday continue to get right behind the team and cheer them to success.

  10. Being realistic and basing thoughts on what we have delivered all season nothing more. Being super positive based on nothing doesn’t play CF and we can’t will the ball into the net as hard as we try. I’m sure the support will get right behind the team as will I but the stats do not inspire confidence and the stats don’t come out of thin air.

My biggest issue is that despite what on all levels has been a very difficult and poorly managed season the club shows not signs of having learned anything. Buy your ST, here’s some new gear for you to buy, get behind the team……….OK but what are you gonna do?………….

  11. Yes ignore the stats that Rangers have played us three times at Ibrox and failed to register a win. Make sure you dig into last season to find a second Rangers win at Celtic Park in a row. Even though different managers were involved. Make sure you ignore that Danny Rohl has played Martin 3 times and failed to register a win and that Martin has knocked him out of two cups.

    Those kind of stats.

Our only loss to Rangers was under W******* N**** as was our loss at Fir Park when Motherwell hosed us. We’re a better team now under a better manager. Look at the full picture please. I must be imagining the wins that we’ve registered or that Rangers hosed Hearts at Ibrox but couldn’t hose Celtic. That must mean that Celtic are a better team than Hearts then according to the statistics.

Celtic are still in this race.

  12. Another thing Moisey, you said ‘basing thoughts on what we have delivered all season’. How can you do that when we have had 4 changes of manager?

Brendan Rodgers had his style of play and his record of WLD. N**** had his too. Martin O’Neill has done far better than those two put together. He has taken us to two Cup Finals and he wasn’t given the chance to win the first. He has also stabilised the team and got us playing in a way where we’re hard to beat. Oh, and one other thing McInnes has not beaten Martin O’Neill this season either. The only encounter ended 2-2 at Tynecastle when Trusty was disgracefully red carded. We would have won that day but for the Mibs.

I’m not concerned about the huns on Sunday but I’m seriously concerned about the officials . Last Sunday showed clearly that they are past being simply sleekit and are now openly and knowingly disadvantaging us and don’t care who knows it . I can only hope the club have been making representation to the SFA on the matter .

Miracle we are still in it but we are and that’s what counts. Stand with O’Neil three huge games, next game is all that really matters. Luckily we have the easiest one first.

  16. The Battered Bunnet on

    Officiating in the Hibs match:

    1) McGrath goes through the legs of Johnston from the side, foot up, shin high.

The linesman has an unobstructed view looking directly at Johnston from 20 yards down the touchline. He does not make any signal. No flag is raised. No “Red car! Red card! Red card!” type reaction that we are so fond of seeing from Douglas Ross.

The referee, David Dickinson, sees it clearly from behind McGrath and awards a yellow card.

VAR suggests he take a second look and he upgrades the yellow to a red for serious foul play.

    2) Maeda scores from Johnston’s cross. Linesman Douglas Ross immediately flags for offside. This despite him being fully 4 yards behind the play and factually unable to determine the offside position – from his position Maeda will have appeared to be 2 yards onside.

VAR confirms Maeda is onside and the goal is awarded.

    3) Hibs’ forward Joe Newell scores. The referee awards the goal. Replays show that Newell handled the ball in the act of scoring and thus the goal must be disallowed. The ball hits Newell’s upper arm and rolls down his arm to hit his hand before he passed it into the net.

VAR review the replays and report that ‘There is insufficient evidence to overturn the referee’s decision.’

After the match, Newell said: “To be completely honest, who knows the rules anymore? I don’t know. Being completely honest, I thought my arm was by my side for starters.”

Who knows the rules anymore. No shit, Joe.

    4) Nygren is blatantly pushed out of the penalty area two-handed and bundled to the ground off the pitch by a Hibs defender. The ball is still in play throughout this incident and therefore a foul is committed irrespective of whether it occurred on or off the pitch. The incident happened directly in front of linesman Calum Spence who flags for a goal kick to Hibs.

VAR review the incident briefly and play is resumed.

That’s four match-changing decisions that the referees and linesmen got wrong in a single match, two of which were further called wrong by the VAR, Don Robertson.

That’s not incompetence. It has the hallmark of partial decision making. Was the VAR reluctant to embarrass the match officials by repeatedly highlighting their errors in these critical moments? You may reach an alternative conclusion.

Given the need to ensure a level playing field as the season reaches its denouement, I am somewhat surprised that Celtic have kept schtum this week.

  17. Forget the early excuses for the hun game.

Jock Stein famously stated, “If you’re good enough, the referee doesn’t matter.”

It’s up to us. If we fulfil our potential we will win and win well.

    HH and KTF.

  18. I don’t think I said we would not win on Sunday or any other game this season – I said that I did not share the confidence of some others.

Based on how the season as played out so far and how we are playing I don’t see that as controversial it’s just a view based on what has happened and what I watch every week. It does not stop me wanting to win or giving the team my backing.

Maybe the reason we keep schtum is that this levelling helps with project right-sizing?

I like the new kit but finds the hark back to 1967 telling and a bit thin; maybe we could secure a sponsorship from Ancestry.com ?

  22. We are the biggest, most powerful and richest club in Scotland.

We dwarf our opposition on these counts.

Let’s stop the self pity and everyone is against us mantra. It reeks of an underlying inferiority complex.

Play to our full potential and optimise our resources and we will prevail.

We have come a long long way and overcome many obstacles in our proud unbroken history.
