FRIMPONG SHUTS OUT NOISE

JEREMIE FRIMPONG fired in a superb goal to get in on the 5-1 romp as Celtic opened the Premiership in impressive style against Hamilton Accies at Parkhead.

Odsonne Edouard took the spotlight again with a classy hat-trick with £3.5million Polish hitman Patryk Klimala took the opportunity in his seven minutes on the field to claim his first competitive strike for the Hoops.

Nineteen-year-old Frimpong took the eye with his surges down the right wing that created havoc in the visitors’ defence.

The Dutch ace, who joined in a £1million deal from Manchester City on the September 2 deadline day last year, took the opportunity to emphasise he was concentrating solely on helping Neil Lennon’s side to an unprecedented tenth successive title – and is not interested in noise elsewhere in Glasgow.

Frimpong, speaking to BT Sport, said: “I don’t really care about Rangers, if they lose or win.

“I just focus on Celtic and what is the goal ahead. We go out to win. We don’t really care about other teams.

“We just care about ourselves.”

Frimpong played for 86 minutes before boss Lennon took the opportunity to give Israeli international right-back Hatem Abd Elhamed a brief appearance.
