Frustration at Best difficult to understand

196

“Frustration” was apparently the order of the day for Celtic as Newcastle’s Leon Best decided against moving on loan for the remainder of the season, despite his club being happy to see him go, while a gaggle of other target-men were apparently courted.  Frustration; really?

We have Hooper, Stokes and Pawel Brozek fighting for no more than two forward spots, with Moh Bangura still waiting for his first proper run in the team and Georgios Samaras regularly drifting to the striker role from the left.  Different formations also call for only one striker with a creative central player, such as Forrest, Commons or maybe Rabiu Ibrahim.

Hooper and Stokes are both playing well, scoring regularly and will be difficult for Brozek to dislodge, not to mention Bangura.  Best, who is neither show-biz nor a player guaranteed to score a barrel-load, would either be this year’s Freddie Ljungberg, or if successful, would be improving his own development at the expense of a contracted Celtic player.

I’m as frustrated as I was the day we lost Marc-Antoine Fortune.

  1. Just read Phil Macs latest blog article. If everything we know is true how can they still be in business? Everyday they survive i get the worry that they will get away with it.

Anyone know why the life support will be turned off??

    Dealing in naked reallity….

If the huns win the league this season, and they might…who would be over the cliff first ?

    —-

That is the worst nightmare imaginable. If Der Hun wins the league this season i expect most Celtic fans will make like lemmings and all leap over cliffs. That scenario is totally unacceptable and if should the unthinkable happen, it will not though, I’m sure that NL would be the 1st to commit seppuku.

IMO we , Celtic, will literally bury the rotting carcass of Hatred FC (RFC) this season

  3. Mountain_Bhoy is Neil Lennon on

Whyte has stated numerous times that the EBT issue was the responsibility of the previous board. He doesnt care about it, he is not responsible for it and is the mechanism for a clean liquidation activation. All he (and ellis?) will be interested in is his 20+ million which he is owed now. Octopus will only be interested in the stadium and whatever else was used as security. The ticketus deal was non-standard, so it could well have just been a loan and not a sale, therefore no VAT?

To me this is a lesson on genius business practice, not breaking the law but making fortunes from literally nothing. Morally repugnant yes, but in this instance Ill chose to ignore that ;)

meanwhile back at the ranch, the previous board of ragers fc must be cacking their pants waiting for the HMRC findings.

In a dark room in the bowels of Ibrox a man with white gloves,a bowler hat and with one trouser leg rolled up hands Alastair a bottle of whiskey and a Webley revolver.

Do the decent thing Alastair he says before adding “oh by the way we couldnt afford any bullets you are going to have to beat yourself to death with that”

Like you I was surprised to see Leon Best pop up,I can only assume it had some linkage to the Forster transfer to us,as I can see nothing he would bring which we could not introduce with a recall of Rasmusson or Murphy.

He had doubts, what a cheek,to have the chance to get Celtic on your CV and pass it up,good one to miss.

LMAO! He really said that? Jesus. I fully expect that statement to be “clarified” before days end, probably round about the time Labour MP’s start screaming and the head of HMRC threatens to quit. Cameron really is shameless. That is such a blatant, barefaced lie that it takes my breath away.

You will sending some over the edge with that wee revelation :>)

I would be one of those who fear the handshake brigade, but I doubt that in the case of the hun they will be so upfront, it would be much easier to let them fold and then the influence could be brought to bare, that is where my fear is founded.

  10. If Sally leaves his replacement will be Durrant or Duffield or someone else already working there.

Who the hell else would take the job?

    Totally concur, Paul!

Some people never learn ie ME!

Scanning the mainstream media for the inevitable follow up to yesterday’s day of relevations and, guess what, I had to log on to CQN to discover what is (almost certainly) happening in the murky world of cheatsrus fc.

Thanks to the usual suspects including BB, JF and, hmmm, awe-naw!

One question! Can newco not call themselves Glasgow Rankers FC? The currant buns are officially known as Rankers FC, are they not? ie no Glasgow in the title!

Yep. Stating that he knew a number of Pompey fans he said it was ridiculous to think they could go and support Southampton. Which I assume has been mooted as an option should Portsmouth fold. Of course he must now adopt the same approach of interceding with HMRC for all clubs, as there isn’t a club in the land without a “friendly rivalry”.

Like you I suspect the diary appointment “Meet with head of HMRC re: Portsmouth” will never be made.

  14. On the other hand.

Perhaps someone might take the job if there is an ‘understanding’ that they would be kept on by the newco huns.

  15. Taking conrol of Rangers is like making love to a beautiful woman

    Cynic.

Perhaps they could just have a whip round at the next cabinet meeting and pay the tax bill for them and save the club.

  18. Hi all,

Any truth in the rumour that aunt sally has walked?

    Cant find anything anywhere!!!

    Cheers all

  19. Sneddoni, indeed.

    Pantaloon Duck, remarkable symmetry.

thismancraig, yes, a less exotic Daryl.

    Barcabhoy, I know!!!

obonfanti1888, yes, I think Andrew from Belfast will sigh heavily if/when that happens.

    oisin71, agree.

Mort, Ticketus will have secured rights on sufficient assets (stadium) to ensure they can recoup their investment.

Battered Bunnet, 11:24, remarkably insightful. “These numbers look awfully like the original £18M for LBG and £3M for the taxman for the wee case.”

I know the mutterings on CQN are not always stirring but every now and then you find a wee nugget like that.

ASonOfDan, should have been interesting at Murray Park this morning.

    pabloh, indeed.

    ArranmoreBhoyLXV11, too true.

KevJungle, I’ll blame you anyway. Don’t sit on the switch again.

    excathedra44, yes, perhaps.

merseycelt , we might have been getting ahead of ourselves with Newco FC. That could well be an unachievable upside for them.

  20. My fear for us is that….

We didn’t get a CH to partner Rogne. Mulgrew will get found out again(ICT last year?)

Wanyama has shaded-off since Kayal injury!IMO!

Kayal not replaced, weakens the spine of the team IMO!

Hopefully the new signings will ring true. Then again…free-transfers and loan deals mmmm.

    Off oot.

May God Bless ‘Every’ Celtic Fan.

    Hail! Hail!

  21. Guys, I’ve got some spare, long term, season tickets going……very good price!

    Anyone interested???

OK, I made that bit up about them being long term but I will do you a good deal – My word is my bond, an’ all that!

  22. Think I might be looking for a new manager soon…….Sally’s starting to feel the heat.

    Any suggestions on a replacement?

    PLG – was he good?

  23. What is the Stars at 12:19

Thanks a lot for that (“by the way we couldnt afford any bullets you are going to have to beat yourself to death with that”): half my lunch is now splattered across my desk and keyboard ….

  24. Few interesting snippets yesterday.

If and when Rangers go under they owe Bond holders money (Thought to be around £20m) from the building of Club Deck.

The debts keep piling up. They are in one hell of a mess. How they got a licence for this season is beyond me.

I hope Celtic have the lawyers at the ready. Can’t see Rangers lasting the season.

  25. If a battle does commence for Newco orcs and old board / current board start up a phoenix. Who would the darkside support??

At least Freddie had a few excuses, won a shed load of trophies and was pushin’ on a bit too when he signed (see lazy too!!) . We were mad to take him. It’s madness to sign anybody that has nothing to prove. Remember Juhinino! Jesus wept!

As for Best, that donkey hasn’t won anything and he has got some neck on him to add to that. Glad he’s nowhere near Parkhead. GTF.

Was sorry Daryl Murphy didn’t make it. Was in his company at a function one night and all he ever wanted was to play in a Glasgow derby. Mad Tim, and a nice fella.
