Further confirmation of where we are

472

The reaction to points dropped yesterday was not on the same level as the disappointment after we similarly rescued a point against Hibs late on the game or went out of the League Cup last week, this one was expected by all and did no more than provide further confirmation of where we are.

This run of two wins in 12 games will eventually end, but by then it will be too late – possibly too late to see off Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final.  In 11 games between now and February, only two are outside Glasgow, short journeys to Hamilton and Paisley, and we have no international fixtures to contend with, but as St Johnstone, Ross County and others have established, that is no comfort.

St Johnstone’s goal was unlike our most in our recent glut.  The defence was briefly in position before breaking into a moment’s disorganisation, Frimpong rushed forward, leaving May unattended, Kane reacted while his marker, Bitton, looked the other way.  Neither Celtic player demonstrated defensive instincts.

Not that the defence is to blame.  The volume of good chances was insufficient to convince anyone a Celtic goal was coming and those that came were missed by our once-prized asset.  The equaliser had more than a touch of good fortune about it.  Whatever ails Celtic, it is not limited to the back line.

If you don’t mind me saying I think you should post your link on here (obviously P67 does not object) people can choose to click or not, I very rarely visit any other site but read your piece/post today

I think a lot of us are a bit “ragin” you seem to be able to post “calmly” :-)

  2. At this rate we will be fighting for second.

NL has had 38ml to spend according to a poster.

Does he have input on who is bought, or is it all Hammond and Lawell.

We need change but i think DD will have to go as well, if he doesn’t it will be same as usual only the names will change.

  3. Does anybody else no longer care about the teams results. Be it the league EL or even the cup final? The only thing I want now is these parasites gone from Celtic. Lawell, Lennon, Desmond, and the rest.

of course you are correct, but I suspect you know the kind of person Neil Lennon is, he’s not a quitter

Think there is now more at stake than the 10. In some ways this may actually be beneficial in the long run to our club or am I clutching at straws?

Money is the only language that this Board understands. It’s the only message they listen to. So it’s my only means of seeking to effect change.

So I’ve applied today for a refund on my 19-20 season books. And I won’t renew while PL remains CEO.

I kept the faith by renewing for two tickets this season. To support the Club and a Cause. Safe in the knowledge that only one was needed to watch it on telly. And that I’d be unlikely to get to Paradise before near season’s end.

No more. A change will come. From them, or by me.

    Same – sadly.

Emailed JP last week – that was answered by AD (not sure why – possibly JB on leave) – my request has now been forwarded on to the Ticket Office.

    I await their reply.

Not just that. His commanding presence probably gave those in front of him extra confidence.

  10. At some point in the months ahead, probably at season ticket renewal time or slightly before, the Celtic Board will begin a PR campaign to breath life into struggling sales.

As part of that PR, the Board will use friendly media, mainstream and bloggers to mount a defence for their inaction this season.

It will involve the tarnishing of players reputations- players sold in January and early next summer will be fair game.

Bloggers will tell us all about how unreasonable some players were and how the Board had no option but to stand by Lennon.

Lennon will be made out to be a cross between Oscar Schindler and Braveheart.

A campaign like this was successful in dealing with what many thought would be a huge backlash when Rodgers left. However, the Board were helped in their briefings against Rodgers based on the fact the man jumped ship mid season and so Celtic fans were rightly angry with him.

I don’t see a similar off record briefing campaign working for Lawwell this time. The Board do indeed take us for fools as evidenced by the pish on this website only a week ago about the need to bring players in during January and therefore Lennon had to stay. The wheels fell off that one within a week.

So keep your eyes peeled for Lawwell’s PR onslaught and stand your ground. He needs to be removed, alongside the preening peacock Corkman who has done next to nothing for this Club.

  12. sad to say but Lenny has ruined our squad of team morale and confidence by his failure to address the real issues on the park by selecting his favourites to play in any position he wants them to play as long as they are in the starting 11 , him and him alone is responsible for team selection and the buck stops with him , allowing him to stay on the books until last seasons cup final is played is embarrassing to all concerned.

Lennon preparing team as usual for Thursday’s EL game v’s Lille – Sky Sports.

I just hope he is staying till SC final and a replacement is lined up. We need to get 3 pts v’s Killie to keep the last wheels on also.

If he isn’t replaced or resigned by then, then I won’t be spending any more money on the club so long as DD/PL are running the show. I am already regretting the money spent on kitting out the little one’s this xmas.

  15. I think quite a few of us saw this coming, I recall years back when Auldheid came for a visit telling him what I thought was going down, he didn’t believe me at the time, so it’s great to see him posting about the failings of our board now.

It’s been painfully obvious for a long long time that this was going to be the outcome, also I am delighted that many are now realising that starving them out is the ONLY answer, money is the ONLY thing that they care about, a blind man can see that they don’t give a flying duck about the team and they care even less about the support, starve them out.

I got one claiming to be from DPD , fortunately I knew I had ordered nothing so I deleted it, but it looked very convincing.

  20. Yes Neil has to go , but so too has his coaching staff , lawell, and the absent landlord too . Add to that half our first team squad . Defence totally rotten has needed toughening up for seasons now , soft as putty . midfield also needs major surgery as defence also soft as putty . Forwards a couple of fast tricky wingers with bottle . To supply whoever wants to stay with us . My worry with that is who is going to search out replacements , that scout we have has not got a clue ,and reading most of the posts seems to be getting an easy ride here . Among his recommendations how many would we want to keep . We are in one hell of a mess , a complete club overhaul is required . HH

With the new vaccine needing to be stored at temperatures of minus 80 and a shortage of large refrigeration units capable of reaching this temperature, I wonder who will benefit more than Willie’s Company?
