Furuhashi first-hand experience

308

Whereas yesterday’s signing, 19-year-old Liel Abada, will mostly be known to Ange Postecoglou and scouts through the medium of video, the manager knows today’s capture, Japanese forward, Kyogo Furuhashi from first-hand experience.

There will be challenges for Kyogo to settle so far from home.  The sheer professionalism of our first Japanese player, Shunsuke Nakamura, ensured his star would always shine, but Shunsuke relied on interpreters for pretty much everything until Celtic signed compatriot, Koki Mizuno three years later.  Ange will not need you or me to tell him it is better to bring players from so far away into the Celtic Ark in pairs.

When Ange joined, we hoped he would return to the Japanese market for talent the European market found too difficult to uncover.  There will be value there the likes of that guy from Bournemouth would never be aware of, let’s make the most of it, bring Kyogo some company.

We are four days away from a Champions League qualifier in a 60,000-seater stadium while the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council ponder the criteria the former want for the latter to approve more than 2,000 fans to attend.  There is no actual reason to delay or refuse, they just don’t want to approve Celtic’s request without handing a simultaneous prize across the city.  This is Scotland in 2021.

Tell the SG we will all wear tartan, that will get us at least 12,500.

with Dessie boots and a ginger wig amd we will get our 18000

I’m a great believer in modern day footballers listen to their agents above all others……Ange is with Base soccer agency ….head honcho is one Frank Trimboli….An Aussie very close to Ange …..their book of players makes interesting reading and a few we have been linked with including man City Japanese centre half who was on loan in Holland last year…….browsing I noticed a freebie Jetro Willims Dutch left back who was on loan to Newcastle season before last …end of contract from frankfurt…..problem?…always a problem..got a bad injury with Newcastle while enjoying a very good spell …..maybe worth a punt for free if fit ?!!

  3. No- one really expected 18000 after all we aren’t the new club. In England we would have a full house

Dessie boots and a ginger wig – superb 😂😂

9,000 is much better than 2,000 and it’s a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed for a turn in the ballot.

Now relieved I wasn’t successful in the PNE ballot.

    Gene – Cheers.

You are of course correct and probably more measured in these things than I.

The situation in Germany is unprecedented.

    It deserves coverage.

But this shower have gone wall-to-wall on it.

    Feels like deflection.

Who ultimately decides on numbers in each stadium is it is the Scottish government or each Council? For example Aberdeen got proportionally more than Celtic but is this down to each Council area or a national decision? Not good if it’s a national decision as this follows no logic but if its local then Glasgow CC are to blame. Celtic Park is a modern stadium in comparison to somewhere like Pittodrie, the majority of which is early 20th century.

  8. Its looking like have identified that we need pace in the side to carry out the new tactics and are trying to beef up the obviously shaky defence. All sounds good to me. The team for Hearts could be anything

team for next Tues is hard to say now. we played 4-1-4-1 in Bristol but if Mikey is out, who plays LW?

Could put Forrest on the left and Karamoko on the right if fit. Christie possibly

The thing i’m finding strange is that Forrest and Rogic have not played yet.

    in my head we have:

    Bain

    Ralston Bitton Welsh Taylor

    Soro

    Christie Turnbull McGregor Forrest

    Edouard

Subs: Urhoghide(RB), Murray (CH), Montgomery (LB,LW), Rogic (CM), Shaw (DM), Ajeti (FW), Abada(RW), Griffiths (FW) – Griffiths depends on if he is on disciiplinary or not

Ah, that makes sense. Was training with Scotland so may get a game? Probably the bench so maybe we go 4-4-2 diamond with Ajeti joining Edouard , midfield of Christie, Soro, Turnbull, McGregor and look for width from full backs. Very much and end of 20/21 season team and set up. hmmmm

  10. good article today – agree to bring in another player! I like the look of the big man city player currently loaned in holland. Big, quick, technical and like to attack the ball.

We need to start signing areal threats!! otherwise it’ll be the Ozzie Kevin Keegan years!

We could get 30,000 in and just say it’s 9,000.

They’ve got the gear with them, but not allowed in this establishment…😉

  14. In the period between agreeing the transfer of Naka and him actually signing we had a European game, easy peasy we thought although the oul dr forewarned us they were a good side, result Artmedia 5 Celtic 1.

At the time I was really concerned that he might call it off, fortunately for us he didnae and the rest as they say is history. Just hope this isnae an omen though.

  16. Great to get Bosun Lawal over the line. I’m assuming we’re waiting on Ajer before we sign on the line for Starfelt…

  17. Just back from Big Jimmy’s gathering in the Saltmarket, I was the first wimp to cry out and not keep pace with the drinking.

Nice boozer- hadn’t been in for 45 years or so

Good turnout for the star man- only problem was I did not get to hear Big or Wee George performing- maybe next time
