Furuhashi first-hand experience

308

Whereas yesterday’s signing, 19-year-old Liel Abada, will mostly be known to Ange Postecoglou and scouts through the medium of video, the manager knows today’s capture, Japanese forward, Kyogo Furuhashi from first-hand experience.

There will be challenges for Kyogo to settle so far from home.  The sheer professionalism of our first Japanese player, Shunsuke Nakamura, ensured his star would always shine, but Shunsuke relied on interpreters for pretty much everything until Celtic signed compatriot, Koki Mizuno three years later.  Ange will not need you or me to tell him it is better to bring players from so far away into the Celtic Ark in pairs.

When Ange joined, we hoped he would return to the Japanese market for talent the European market found too difficult to uncover.  There will be value there the likes of that guy from Bournemouth would never be aware of, let’s make the most of it, bring Kyogo some company.

We are four days away from a Champions League qualifier in a 60,000-seater stadium while the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council ponder the criteria the former want for the latter to approve more than 2,000 fans to attend.  There is no actual reason to delay or refuse, they just don’t want to approve Celtic’s request without handing a simultaneous prize across the city.  This is Scotland in 2021.

    Fair enough.

As for AP (like all, i hope) i’m right behind him and quite excited about whats to come but remain cautious as the proof will be in the pudding as they say.

Thanks for the traditional CQN welcome but am not a newbie. In fact I have been reading CQN almost since its inception. Did not post very often but aiming to do so in the future.

I simply changed my moniker from Neil Lennon & McCartney.

  6. Hearing Starfelt deal is done. Will it be Starfelt and Welsh until October then Starfelt and Julien? The big man’s injury is taking forever to heal. Remember he went to Dubai with crutches in January . . . is he actually back training yet?

If we could add two quality fullbacks and a better keeper I’d fancy our chances of still being in a title race come next spring.

Not quite sure where he is now but hopefully he comes back a more settled individual.

He is not a man for poker — wears his heart on his sleeve.

There is a player in there somewhere.

Would want him to have to fight for his place come October.

Perhaps Ange will change the culture of recent seasons , where the kids were not given a chance . We have been losing far too many promising youngsters .

  10. Oh noooooo.

Burnley 78 is feeling confident about this season 😲😢😢🙈

The last time he was feeling this confident was 10 DAYS, before Sevco won the league the earliest the league has ever been won in the history of the league.

    Off oot for more sun😎

Conversation with Jr about the youth team we had in the 16/17 Challenge Cup.

Won two games then came up against Livi in their promotion season.

KA — then newly in the door — is the only one of the starting 11 who made it.

Lots of talent on show at 18 but then it all seemed to stop.

Something missing in our set up.

    Too much too soon?

Now trying to find the team sheets for those three games.

Phew! thought you were serious with that comment, certainly surprised

me and CELTIC MAC, but that’s the trouble with blogs, posts, or whatever,

if you’re standing talking to someone in a bar and you heard that, you

would look for the glint in the eye or the slight smile on the lips, and just

    laugh.

Thank you for redeeming my faith in the Celtic support.

  17. Hope the likes of Calmac, Turnbull and Ajeti get no more than 45 mins today. God help us if anyone else gets injured. I’d play Ntcham for the full game to see if he can show something approaching his true form. JF should also play a part. He is fit and raring to go but needs match time. Liel Abada also needs a chance to play. He says he is ready to go straight in . . .

Barkas? How long is he out for? I assume it will be Bain on Tuesday.

Just to add – I remember when very young wrestling with my mum over the Dansette record-player – she would always be playing Bridie Gallagher ‘The Boys From The County Armagh’ & other Irish stuff, and I would be rejecting them and sticking on “The Celtic Song’ by Glen Daly full blast….that Piccadilly record label is imprinted on my brain to this day.

I see Arsenal are signing Ben White from Brighton for 50m. Ajer only 15m.

I don’t know White but this feels reminiscent of Tierney 25m vs Wan Bissaka at 50m and we all know who the better player is.

Interesting that about Bridie Gallagher, now as far as I know the FORFAR

BRIDIE was created by the aforementioned Bridie at Forfar market and

became so popular that it was known as a Bridie.

    Sounds tasty to me.

Just inside the last third ….

    Sounds familiar?
