GAMBOA’S IN GLASGOW FOR MEDICAL

CRISTIAN GAMBOA has arrived in Glasgow to undertake a medical ahead of a move to the 5 in a row Scottish Champions and league leaders Celtic.
CQN reported earlier that Hawthorns manager Tony Pulis is prepared to sell the 26-year-old Costa Rican international who has been unable to get into the first team since he took over as gaffer in January last year.
Gamboa made just three appearances for the Midlands outfit last season and still has 12 months left on the three-year contract he agreed when he arrived in a £2million deal from Norwegian side Rosenborg in July 2014..
Rodgers is on the look-out for a right-sided defender. At the moment, he only has Saidy Janko as back-up to Mikael Lustig and the former Manchester United full-back didn’t help his cause with a nervy display in last week’s Champions League play-off confrontation against Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel.
Pulis has made it clear that Gamboa, Sebastien Pocognoli and Callum McManaman don’t have futures at the club and he’s trying to ship all three players out before midnight on Wednesday.
He said: “I’m hoping and praying they will move for their sakes, as much as anyone else. They want to play and, fingers crossed, we’ll be able to find a home for them.”

Ironically, McManaman was linked with the Hoops before he became Pulis’s first signing for the Baggies when he arrived from Wigan in a £4.75million deal, but he has since fallen out of favour.
