Game against Newco unlikely to be postponed

169

Despite reports to the contrary this morning, as things stand, the prospect of Celtic being able to cancel the rescheduled game against Newco on 2 February is significantly below 50%.  All other things being equal, Tom Rogic should be with the Australia squad for their game a day earlier and Kyogo Furuhashi should be with Japan.

It has been two years since Yosuke Ideguchi was involved with the Japan national team.  Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate have both been part of the Japan Under-23 squad in recent months.  None of the players signed on Friday are expected to be called up for the Japan World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia on 1 February.

Celtic need three or more players called up for international duty before they can apply for a postponement.  There is also the prospect that currently-injured Kyogo is not fit for the Japan squad.  If the game was tomorrow, the likelihood is that only Tom Rogic would be missing for permissible reasons, leaving Celtic two signings short of a cancellation.

Rogic and Kyogo have been the sugar in our tea this season, without them, we are significantly less potent, but we have a month to prepare.  Bring it on.

    HH mate.

Never left, just avoided the angry drunks, sleekits and multi-moniker nuggets………….

    HNY

  2. 11 first team games and over £10m in Scotland 🤣🤣🤣

Ramsay at Aberdeen 19 games playing same position and he’s quoted at £4m

  3. Anthony Ralston has earned his place by sheer hard work, determination and an eye for goal. He has mainly won over a sceptical support by continuing to display these qualities.

The very fact he really wants to play for us is an added bonus.

    HH.

  4. Anthony has been magnificent and its good we huv the first choice Croatian Right Back who is willing to play any position for the Team.

He’s on the Little Jack Horners now IMO and will be a Good source of goals in the 2nd half of the Season.

  5. Remember when Liverpool signed Danny Wilson, the rags said £9 million, it was 600k…a lot of the current debtors will be in about them

  6. I reckon Hatate will be as pivotal as oor number 8.

We are Strengthening and I think we will do well in the 2nd half of the Season.

  7. Had the game against them gone ahead as scheduled today I would have expected us to win regardless if injuries.

What I particularly like about what Ange is doing is instilling a way of playing into the squad so we can produce results even when we are short of our better players – I know there are exceptions to teams who have parked various buses.

So the 2nd February under the lights should hold no fears for us.

I’m sure Kyogo wants to play with Japan, but I hope he is only allowed to go away if he is fully fit. A full month of recovery before a competitive 70 or 80 minutes would be ideal, but we cannot be a one man team ir allow any notion that we need a talisman get into players heads.

We have league points to win ahead of playing them anyway. We’re gonna win this league if we take it one game at a time.

  8. Only Lionel Messi was better IMO.

The Maestro was an Incredible Captain.

We might not have won much but Paul was an awesome Captain.
