Game against Newco unlikely to be postponed

Despite reports to the contrary this morning, as things stand, the prospect of Celtic being able to cancel the rescheduled game against Newco on 2 February is significantly below 50%.  All other things being equal, Tom Rogic should be with the Australia squad for their game a day earlier and Kyogo Furuhashi should be with Japan.

It has been two years since Yosuke Ideguchi was involved with the Japan national team.  Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate have both been part of the Japan Under-23 squad in recent months.  None of the players signed on Friday are expected to be called up for the Japan World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia on 1 February.

Celtic need three or more players called up for international duty before they can apply for a postponement.  There is also the prospect that currently-injured Kyogo is not fit for the Japan squad.  If the game was tomorrow, the likelihood is that only Tom Rogic would be missing for permissible reasons, leaving Celtic two signings short of a cancellation.

Rogic and Kyogo have been the sugar in our tea this season, without them, we are significantly less potent, but we have a month to prepare.  Bring it on.

    Mea Culpa – Jota back in Portugal for treatment- ominous suggestions that the new Benfica manager rates him – if ‘treatment’ stretches into February we may not see him again. Hope our paperwork on loan and option to buy are watertight.

    Ange wont keep anyone at Celtic who doesnt want to be at Celtic, it won’t matter who it is, last year should have taught us a lesson on players going through the motions when they dont get what they want, as well as the wishes of the player , Celtic have to want to buy and Benfica sell, hopefully his hamstring clears up by the end of the break and he is available to show the form he was showing up to the injury, the rest will take care of itself too many variables to fret about .

    All paper talk about Jota.Don’t believe a word.Meanwhile they are touting for them to receive 10 million,plus, for a reserve.The same mob who were gleefully saying we would be lucky to get double figures for Edouard’s.

     

    Today the bandwagon moving up the gears telling us ,no matter how many we are missing,we must play on the 2nd.It will only get worse.

    Cant believe Everton will spend 12m up front on a prospect who has played 5 games this year, if this is the case their scouts need sacked no wonder they are on the slide, why not spend a fraction of that on Tav pen who is keeping him out of the team?

     

    Patterson would fail in the PL and would be back up here for a small percentage of today’s rumoured fee, guess its about generating funds for now, watch them get Souttar for 250k.
