George Peat still casting shadow

1187

Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art.  We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.

So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.

Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.

Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear).  Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion.  He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.

There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else.  Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.

McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.

The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.

Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

I wonder if FPLG will be asking for the 250 season book holders to be named.

    I feel a revolution coming on………….

How brilliant would it be to see Celtic tops (and other SPL tops) dotted around SFL games next season?

On the wider point it could be a real ‘new dawning’ for Scottish football if, as you say, FOOTBALL fans come together and declare that integrity is paramount in our game above finance, despite the fact that it will effect what is on show etc.

I feel a Martin Luther King moment coming on, but………..I have a dream that…

    – All clubs downsize…..including Celtic

    – Players are paid less

    – We rely less on TV

    – Ticket prices fall

    – We start to concentrate more on our own player development

    – We have ONE governing body with leaders with integrity, like Turnbull Hutton, dare I say, at the helm. Not shysters like Regan, Doncaster, Ogilvie, Peat etc etc

We get back to grass roots, our game improves and we do all this BEFORE the game financially implodes in England and Europe, and when it does WE are ahead of the game……and our game is in great shape!

    As I say……….’I have a dream……’

I still feel that there will be a Hun-free Scottish game when the season begins.

They appear to be in no condition to take a place in any division, should one be offered to them.

Now, I don’t know why they should be doing this, but the Shame seem to be deliberately sabotaging their own prospects at every opportunity. McCoist’s totally unnecessary, “Who are these people?” rabble-rousing cry; the March of Intimidation to Hampden; the incompetently handled appeal to the Appellate Tribunal which seemed like an attempt to goad the AT into increasing the punishment to a suspension or expulsion; the outrageous decision to contest the transfer embargo in the Court of Session; the surreal entrance upon the platform of John Brown aka The Least Credible Business Turnaround Specialist in the history of finance; and most recently the SPL share transfer request which, from what we’ve seen and heard, was the most inept presentation imaginable.

I know they’re generally arrogant, confrontational, ignorant and boorish but my spider-sense is tingling at the sheer clumsiness of the own goals that they’re relentlessly banging in. They look so contrived that it’s as if they’ve been deliberately planned to cause a negative reaction.

Is it possible that some of the most guilty parties are hoping that, by appearing to have been forced out of the game by the unseen Fenian Hand, there will be a loss of momentum in the investigations into the details of their nefarious activities over the decades? Whatever the reason for it, there does seem to be a determination to shoot themselves in the foot whenever they’re thrown a lifeline.

I hope they’re using a belt-fed machine-gun and that they keep firing until the season is under way.

Strange days indeed, Mama. Most peculiar.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that fans of the other clubs in Scotland suddenly feel a sense of camaraderie with the Hoops support.

Most of them disliked both halves of the O** F*** and know fine well that we’ll take the first opportunity to get the hell out of here!

It is now clear for anyone who wishes to see that those in leadership positions in Scottish football find the rules a bit of an obstacle to their plans.

I have noticed in the debate on the way that the SFA is currently acting, no one has yet mentioned that NewCo in division 1 is a breach of FIFA Statues – Article 9 of the regulations governing application of the FIFA Statutes. Quite clearly, league participation must be based on sporting merit. The SFA and SPL must abide by these Statutes in terms of their own Articles and rules. NewCo has no sporting merit to be in division 1 and so I believe the SFA are acting in clear breach of FIFA Statutes.

If Mr Regan doubts me he can check page 62.

    http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/01/48/60/05/fifastatuten2011_e.pdf

Please read Section 9.1 on sporting merit and then think about what Mr Regan proposes for Sevco to SFL Div1.

9.3 on the changing of names and company structures should also concentrate those fine minds at Hampden.

9.4 should inform Mr Regan where the buck stops.

Finally he may wish to consult the SFA’s articles of association

    http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/SFAPublications/ScottishFApublications2011-12/Scottish%20FA%20Handbook.pdf

I think he may find 3.B on page 24 has something within it that should focus him.

From my reading of these rules, both international and domestic, the sweetheart deal that he apparently wants to wangle for NewCo simply isn’t on.

Just apply the rules Mr Regan because that is what you are paid for.

    Paul,

I’m wondering about so many possible outcomes for THEM- as I’m sure most CQNers are – and I hope important points raised by yourself do not go under the radar.

You touch correctly on the licence issues. McCoist on RTV wearing a top bearing the Oldco crest, the meaningless 5 stars, etc. – Is he still allowed to do this in an official capacity? Indeed, we need clarity on the very point of whether they are permitted – now or in the future – to use the term ‘Rangers’ in any way without incurring fines/penalties of Oldco.

I would also like to know what RIGHT they have to even enter the SFL? Rules state 3 years of audited accounts are required before even being considered. All MSM is focussed on their entry into SFL1 or SFL3 – NOT why they should be allowed to queue-jump. If they are banned from European competition for 3 years as they are a Newco, then this is a simple -to-understand case of existing rules being applied. The same requirement is in place for consideration for SFL membership. APPLY THE EXISTING RULES.

As for ‘social unrest’ if Regan does not get what he plainly wants, may he rue those words for eternity. Compared to the crime-free Pleasantville when they existed, Stewart? Aye, right.

But all they’ve got is p1ss & gristle.

They’ve broken each & every rule,

They’ve never acted in a FAIR way,

And worse, far worse than this,

They did it the ‘SQUARE’ way.

Regrets ?.. You bet they have.

But only NOW, because they’re dying.

They laughed at FOOLS who played to rules

The laughings done,.. & now they’re crying.

Their best laid schemes have gone agley,

Their crimes have all come back to haunt them,

Greed made them blind, & now they find.

    Nobody wants them.

Yes, there were times that we all knew,

They’d bitten more than they could chew.

But through it all, when they were down,

Hugh, Chic & Jabba rallied round.

They told the lies They took the pies,

    They did it THEIR way.

What is a man ? What has he got ?

If not himself, then he has NAUGHT.

To say the things he truly thinks,

Instead of printing stuff that stinks.

They supped the bowl, they sold their soul,

    They did it THEIR way.

On the SPL2 threat to SFL clubs. Surely Celtic would have to agree to this as a member club of the SPL ? I would be appalled and ashamed if we supported the setup of a tier 2 SPL which cuts adrift the lower league clubs.

Or is Regan contemplating creating an SPL2 without the agreement of Celtic ?

  16. strange that doncaster and regan can spout all this stuff and no club has called

We can change all that, and the good guys in Scotland (of which there are many) can leave all of these people behind.

I think there are more good guys around than bad and there are some guys in the SFL that are giving me that growing confidence.

Doesn’t the liquidator(BDO) have the final say on whether newco can use the name ‘Rangers’ in any form?

”The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behavior is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.”

It is my view that SevCo should be allowed a clean start in Division 3 as a rebuilt, renewed R@ngers.

No one has a problem distinguishing my home town’s club of Airdrie United from the Airdrieonians my Granddad supported, they play in a very similar kit they have retained many of their oldco supporters but the history of Airdrieonians while preserved does not carry on and doesn’t belong to United.

I have no problem with R@ngers United (though the concept may take some imagination at present) leaving the OldCo’s baggage behind.

This allows the Wrath of all that’s decent in Scottish Football to purge RFC 1873.

On an aside – Liked this idea…

  25. So, not only is Reagan breaking the SFA’s own Articles of Association with his ‘SevCo in SFL 1’ plan, he is also breaking FIFA statutes

I wonder what Mr Blatter & Co will make of that once we inform them?

  26. All of these threats to force a restructure if you don’t vote for Sevco.

    All toothless dogs.

They have no power to enforce any changes.

The members must approve of changes and need I state the blindingly obvious, Sevco ain’t a member.

  27. is the spl 2 threat, not something that will throw the newco fc problem back to the spl clubs as the clubs would have to be in agreement with this? would clubs from sfl not need to give notice to their governing body? would clubs invited to spl 2 have to have appropraite stadia or would that change to suit in the event that they cant get the 10 first division clubs to buy into this plan? so spl 2 will be a league of specially selected team, so instead of having one team jump divisions, we will have maybe 5 or 10. to be honest i want thems to begin life in the 3rd division and to work up as they would have earned the right to play in the spl if they get there. would be happy to see a scottsh league system with 3 leagues with regional leagues under that, openning up scottish football to all.

p.s. noticed the hun done a survey an 14 clubs stated they would not vote newco in, 2 abstained and 14 were undecided. 1 of the undecided was ayr united, in the record ayr united chairman advocating for the third.

think the 1st division vote will fail and spl will only get of the ground if spl clubs backtrack, it could get messy

  28. philvisreturns on

traditionalist88 – Aye. Time is on our side. (thumbsup)

Mea Culpa – All toothless dogs.

Even toothless dogs can be troublesome.

What if they threaten to slabber on you, ride your leg, and poop on your carpet?

If we see Regan walking around in little circles in front of Celtic Park, we’ll know what he’s up to. (thumbsup)
