Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art. We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.
So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.
Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.
Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear). Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion. He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.
There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else. Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.
McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.
The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.
Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

Ticketus arrangement is pretty common; usually for only one season though, and usually involving having a team to watch ;/)
Apologies if already covered.
On one page of the Idiot’s Guide To Powerpoint document presented to the SPL Chairmen it bemoans the fact they only have 8 players (5 senior). Then,on another page,it proposes to accept the one year signing ban.
How could they field a team if this had been accepted?

TC, its the same with the ;ine, they should go to div 3 like anyother club, problem is I’m seeing it on here too, and it looks like a lot of Celtic supporters are confused as well,
The hundead is not a football club, it has no membership, which btw needs 5 years as an associate member before they can apply for full membership (re articles of association clause 6).
So regardless of any 3 year audited accounts they have more fundamental rules to comply with.
Also as Phil Mac has said today, the sfa will be breaking fifa rules if they go ahead with their plans.
They appear to digging faster :o)

Its been suggested they wanted to be allowed to sign players who were out of contract, with the embargo only in place for actual “purchases”
question is how would they pay them?
Medtim
The signing ban didn’t cover U18’s
It would be interesting to see how a team of callow youths got on against some seasoned pro’s
Anyone know if Sevco paid the wages of those who transferred
another wee point of interest,
the fighting fund is made up of donations\gifts, cash gifts are very heavily taxed, have they registered this organisation with HMRC :o)

Exactly mate – and the point I was trying to make in the last blog. Sevco is a registered company. Not a football club. They have membership of no Football Association. They need to apply for this in the usual manner. There are criteria to be met before an application can be made. They meet none of these criteria.
NatKnow..,
yep, it is worrying so many on here seem to think div 3 is where they should start
No love in from me with any other SPL fans they would have voted the same way if it was Celtic. There chairman will be along soon with new rules to get our money, could give examples of each teams hatred towards celtic.

Apologies if this point has been raise before, but……..
……if all the gerrymandering/rule circumventing/bullying/threatening being practiced by Messrs. Doncaster/Regan/Longmuir et al, is successful, and Sevco are admitted into SFL, thereby by-passing the meritocratic process expected of them, will UEFA &FIFA take a dim view of such events?
Would the possibility of their involvement result in the expulsion of Scottish clubs from European competition?
This could result in a lose/lose situation for us, and giving the ex-huns a sense of smug satisfaction and another back-door, cheated victory of sorts.
……..or am I Just being a fud who still cant believe our day is coming??

The vultures asking him constant questions about SevCo, trying to get a sensationalist headline for their rags tomorrow
He said all the right things and gave them Foxtrot Alpha

Can see it would need an interpretation on what constituted a “signing”.
My understanding is that they would only be allowed to register “new” players under 18 y/o (in line with what PFayr suggests)
How would this have fitted in with Regan’s “they can only be out of the SPL for one year” scenario?
Even with a little help from their friends it would be a tall order.
On a linked issue,if a 14 year old had put together a presentation of that standard as part of a school project,do you think it would achieve pass marks?

Indeed mate. That has put a smile on my face and no mistake.
That said, the sad news about Lurgan53 is a shocker, and his family and friends are in my thoughts. YNWA.
Re: Partick Thistle.
If Sevco isn’t allowed to call itself “The Rangers Football Club”, they could do worse than follow the example of Glasgow’s second biggest club in adopting the name of a plant.
How about “The Rangers Weeds”?

I agree completely
The league is not over without “them” , there is an opportunity for ANY team in the SPL to invest and show some ambition, European places are more achievable than they have ever been ( along with the financial benefits that brings) and considering how tight the rest of the league is 2-3 key players in any team could prove vital.
I believe Aberdeen are showing some ambition in the signings they have made so far, seriously!
Aberdeen, DU, Motherwell, Hearts,St Johnstone had little between them and any club willing to invest will, without doubt, stimulate income/ enthusiasm from the support.
TV money is NOT the backbone of Scottish Football, too many envious glances over the border!!
If anything that league is in more trouble than ours! ( Don-Egan aside)
Good will prevail
The group have already confirmed that they will be sponsoring Raith Rovers’ mascot Roary Rover for next season
