GET A MOVE ON, JAMESY

JAMES FORREST has only four games to preserve an extraordinary goalscoring record.

Celtic’s evergreen 33-year-old winger netted in FIFTEEN successive seasons after claiming one on his debut against Motherwell in 2009/10.

So far, though, Forrest has yet to have the pleasure of hammering the ball into the opposition net with the clock ticking on the 2024/25 campaign.

The lively forward’s striking quest was hindered following an injury sustained in the Premier Sports League Cup Final triumph over Philippe Clement’s Ibrox outfit at Hampden in mid-December.

ON THE RUN…James Forrest and Nico Raskin race for the ball while Mohamed Diamonde looks on during Sunday’s 1-1 stalemate at Ibrox.

The Scotland international was forced to miss 21 successive games, but he has been firing blanks since his return to the side and his remarkable scoring sequence is now under threat.

The one-club man collected 108 goals from 518 appearances and made history as the most decorated player in Celtic’s history when he played his part in the champions’ 5-0 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice a couple of weekends ago to seal the team’s fourth succesive title.

The Tayside triumph boosted Forrest’s phenomenal personal haul of fame to TWENTY-SIX honours, one more than Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox.

All he needs now is a goal – and the possibility of picking up medal No.27 when the holders take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday May 24.

Forrest has three league games to ease the tension before the end-of-season extravaganza.

Hibs are the visitors to Parkhead at the weekend, then there is a midweek trip to Pittodrie for a Hampden dress rehearsal before the Premiership campaign is concluded with Flag Day against St Mirren in the east end of Glasgow a week on Saturday.

Better get a move on, Jamesy!
