Get ready for Brendan’s reign

650

There was a spring in the step this morning as we look forward to Celtic taking to the field for the first time under Brendan Rodgers against Slovenians, NK Celje.

While the usual caveats apply – we’re unfit and will look it, the manager doesn’t really know the players yet – it will be interesting to see the formation, and how it contrasts to Ronny’s reign. I would also look out for wee clues as to how we will play, like how the keeper distributes the ball, and where the full backs play.

16 years ago Martin O’Neill took his team to the Netherlands and was well beaten, but he returned to Amsterdam a few weeks later, where he ripped up the form book, so don’t get too stressed by what might happen later.

Once in a lifetime opportunity……

There are rare experiences and then there are extremely rare experiences, but the chance to appear in the Celtic team photo is incredibly rare.

Thanks to Malorbhoy, we have a £5-a-ticket raffle to win the chance to appear in your very own team photo, alongside the Celtic players and management at the preseason photocall for 2016-17.

You will then meet treble winning captain, Tom Boyd, who will give you a personal tour of Celtic Park.

Celtic will provide you with a strip, which you will retain, and you will receive your team photograph, framed and signed by the team, on a specially prepared mount.

This is an incredible experience for any Celtic fan.

Your donations go to Celtic FC Foundation, to support their work in Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty. The Foundation deliver often life-changing support and opportunities to children and adults in Scotland, Ireland, the rest of the UK and in many needy areas of the globe.

Buy your ticket at MyDonate here. You can enter as many times as you like, but only donations of £5 or higher will be entered into the raffle.

Many thanks and good luck!

Evening/morning all. Who`s our Antipodean bruv fighting wae tonight? ps What a shite game that was.

  2. Somme 1916 Brexit 2016

Remember the Somme 1916 and the Great War where Grande-Bretagne lost so many

Europe at the time was run by powerful families and all it took was the death of one of the family to set in motion the slaughter of millions

In 2016 it’s not Kings but politicians who made the big decisions about Europe and this time they oiled the vehicle to take the Grande-Bretagne out not in

Now Grande-Bretagne faces years of uncertainty

No one who gets elected as a prime minister will able to sort out this mess

The UK is split on so many fronts it’s only a United Kingdom by title

The leavers will always be leavers and the remainers will always be remainers

There will be no instant national rally to anyone’s cause until the folly is fully understood

Hence Boris running away from the job he knew he could never do

One up on Cammers oh what a jolly jape

Now Gove filling the gap left by the leavers leader exit

And he said he could never be a prime minister because he was not up to the job

What a mess this government has left behind in its egotistic and nepotic in house squabble over Europe

Whatever happens next and no matter how comfy Theresa May wants you to feel it will not be business as usual for quite some time.

From austerity to uncertainty the tory years csc

Whoever queried why Celtic don’t incorporate red and green in an away strip.

I’m in Portugal at the moment so no sight of Mr MP….but I can imagine lol

I’d never use him as a template for a Celtic FC design.

In his defence (mildly)….he seems to have liberalised his opinions over recent years.

I still hold that red and green should be seen. See what I did there? ;-)

  9. Friendlies I’v no time for, and rating players performance in them is? Well to be honest just daft, it’s all about getting fit and getting to know each other, a more or less two week male bonding fortnight, nice to see the hoops again but :))

    I have to disagree.

Coaches will not be to bothered about result.

But based on training they will give a player a role and instructions.

How the player performs in that role over a few games of course will determine who fits their philosophy and who does not.

I thought the team in second half seemed to reflect Brendans style more than those in the first..

We will see changes in next few games in specific roles so excited to see.

I am also probably Nir’s biggest critic on this forum and thought he did himself no favours tonight but that may be my slanted viewpoint.

Armstrong was our best and i think he is a great fit for the type of game we will play.

  17. FAN-A-TIC

that’s more or less what I’m saying, it’s not really good t watch from a fans point of view, it’s all about coaching, my point is you can’t criticise a player, as you don’t know what the coach is asking from him and other players, but hopefully it all comes good in the end, IMO :))

Scotland needs to explore all its options but keep its powder dry until the dust settles and we can see clearly what exactly is going on, here, in europe and globally before taking any leaps in the dark.

Yes it is usually the people who bear the brunt my friend

Thindime I despair for the young people in this country. Both sides lied through their teeth to further their own self-serving, cash-driven careers. I despise the lot of them.
