Get ready for Brendan’s reign

There was a spring in the step this morning as we look forward to Celtic taking to the field for the first time under Brendan Rodgers against Slovenians, NK Celje.

While the usual caveats apply – we’re unfit and will look it, the manager doesn’t really know the players yet – it will be interesting to see the formation, and how it contrasts to Ronny’s reign. I would also look out for wee clues as to how we will play, like how the keeper distributes the ball, and where the full backs play.

16 years ago Martin O’Neill took his team to the Netherlands and was well beaten, but he returned to Amsterdam a few weeks later, where he ripped up the form book, so don’t get too stressed by what might happen later.

Once in a lifetime opportunity……

There are rare experiences and then there are extremely rare experiences, but the chance to appear in the Celtic team photo is incredibly rare.

Thanks to Malorbhoy, we have a £5-a-ticket raffle to win the chance to appear in your very own team photo, alongside the Celtic players and management at the preseason photocall for 2016-17.

You will then meet treble winning captain, Tom Boyd, who will give you a personal tour of Celtic Park.

Celtic will provide you with a strip, which you will retain, and you will receive your team photograph, framed and signed by the team, on a specially prepared mount.

This is an incredible experience for any Celtic fan.

Your donations go to Celtic FC Foundation, to support their work in Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty. The Foundation deliver often life-changing support and opportunities to children and adults in Scotland, Ireland, the rest of the UK and in many needy areas of the globe.

Buy your ticket at MyDonate here. You can enter as many times as you like, but only donations of £5 or higher will be entered into the raffle.

Many thanks and good luck!

Regardless of what the Commentators say Eric Sviatchenko could have been off. Certainly would have been in Scotland

Liking the look of Ryan Christie so far, always looks busy. Was going to make a couple of negative points about a couple of players and thought better of it…

I thought he played all his football bar those last games as a defensive mid.

3 games at CF against 50 as a DM do not make him a converted Centre forward.

Thought we edged the play but did not have too many clear cut chances. Obviously not march sharp mentally

Typical first friendly of season. Scrappy and disjointed. Lots of passes going astray and players looking out of sorts. Just hope they don’t carry this form into champions league qualifiers like last season.

  5. Ach, thanks ghuys. Having no luck. Being asked to fill in forms and give credit card details.I’ll follow running commentary on here and watch Polska on the telly.

    Hail! Hail!

Looks warm, But good run out none the less. They look a yard faster than last season. Fisher, Christie looking sharp.

  8. I know it’s totally silly and I know it’s just a fitness bounce game but I hate seeing Celtic losing. I’ll get over it 30 seconds after game is over but from now until end of game I’ll be willing the Celts to push on & score a couple.

Bounce game or no bounce game 45 minutes without a shot on target annoys me.

    Cheers mate.

Wonder if the second 11 will play the same way.

Gives the manager a chance to assess his squad in a semi-competitive game….we should be creating more than 2 half chances in 45 mins…..am still relaxed about it…..result isn’t as important as what BR takes from it ;-))

    Found one in the nick of time, asking if you’ll be in before you head next door to Axm tonight ;-}

  12. I know its only a training match and its all about opinions but our right back Fisher is struggling big time, we have had 2 attempts at goal none on target , some good passing moves , hope for better things 2nd half.

All change for 2nd half – did I hear the commentator say Cifti ?

    I thought he was away?

It’s not until you see wee Jamesie again you realise how much you’ve missed him

I have not posted in a while but you sure know how to provoke a man into action.,

Surely another mgr is not going to buy into this guy. Away to watch 2nd half.
