Get the job done early against St Mirren

238

St Mirren sat comfortably above Hamilton and Hearts in the league a week ago, but midweek wins for the bottom two sides asks big questions of the Paisley team.  Celtic might feel the pressure eased after they extended their lead at the top of the table to 13 points, but focus on picking up a point or more will be absolute for tomorrow’s visitors.  Defeat for Saints could see Ross County move six points ahead of them on Sunday.

With a visit to Ibrox next weekend, Neil Lennon would surely prefer to get the job done early against St Mirren, allowing him to rest a few legs after what is likely to be our last week of the season with two games.  If we are made to battle into the second half, as we did when St Mirren visited earlier this season, it could be a long afternoon.  Taking a 16 point lead should be sufficient incentive.

  1. Can’t see the government paying any compensation to private companies – where would it end – concerts, cinemas, restaurants etc

  2. Games behind closed doors with greatly increased TV coverage (with suitable financial recompense) is the way to go.

And bring forward as many games as possible to get the season over as quickly as possible before players start getting the virus, because once that happens the season will have to be closed immediately.

Postponing games is pointless. By the time they get round to playing them the disease will be everywhere and every squad will be affected.

I wouldn’t expect the clubs to be dictating terms here.

I would think the tv coys would have the clubs over a barrel.

Ernie – you’re missing the point.

What happens when the CV suddenly engulfs the Hun team and with great regret they can’t fulfil their fixtures?

Alas it forces them over the edge and along with other Klubs they are bailed out by the govt./SFA?

  6. I don’t know if anyone else has observed this but it is quite noticeable.

In the photo of the Sevco dugout at the Accies game, SG is the only one not wearing a Sevconian tracksuit. Maybe his was in the wash… that must be it.

  7. If the government bail out football clubs they would need to bail out every other business impacted by cv.

    So that aint gonna happen.

Mind you, they could make an exception for the manky mob.

The precedent has been set . Sanctioned clubs have been required to play behind closed doors

When those matches were televised , did the TV companies compensate the participating clubs for the loss of gate revenue ?

I would very much doubt it .

Agreed. This situation is , I think , unprecedented.

New deals to be done ?

or he was wearing one but it already been in the wash once so had shrunk to a (electron) microscopical size? 🤷🏻‍♂️

  10. Absolute pash been spouted about Alfredo’s value being lessened these past few weeks

Morelos is worth £1m and always has been.

Forget discipline- he just isn’t that goos a player.

I shake my head when I hear Celtic fans say

…. He’s only worth £5m….Cosgrove n Doige are worth the same or more.

If people can’t see the difference between Dembele, Edouard and Morelos then i reckon Jim Traynor is good at his job.

He will leave the newhuns on loan and then an undislosed fee.

2-0 tomorrow then 8 days of working on the tactics for Ibrox then it’s yo ho ho.

Can’t see the huns management wanting the season abandoned given that they will be due £2.4m prize money as runners up.

Totally agree Gene.after 13 years of economic instability and politicians of all persuasions hammering the poor it’s a big naw to extending the welfare state for the private sector.

  18. Looking forward to tomorrow’s match , On paper we should sweep it . But once again our defence will be up against a big robust striker , so we may have a few squeaky bum moments . I was reading the boy dykes comments on the game on Wednesday at Livi , he enjoyed ruffling up our two giant defenders . And was spot on with his assessment that Jullien was a bit timid . I like Jullien but there is some truth in the boys statement , not only him who has enjoyed success against our big bhoys the forwards from Aberdeen. Hamilton and the lad at Clyde as well caused them problems . I like the type of player who stamps there authority on the opposition, I hope our big bhoys start to put it about a bit sometime soon . They are a basket of snakes.i think jum,his writings etc maybe put a pressure on individuals at ibrokes.just me but I get the impression if we had a win on 29th Alfredo would have been off and the narratives were built to alleviate that.

Like all things in fairyland they never go to plan.

    Hope your good fella :-))

When you listen to politicians and their advice , you just know that , very understandably , they are emphasising the need for calm. The president of the WHO , eg. Meaningless platitudes imho.

In time , in all probability , we will be better informed about the source of the outbreak , but there appears to be certainty that animal to human is the route of transmission .

Speculation currently about other sources .Who knows at this stage ?

    Nobody .

In future it appears to be probable that the mass migration of people will be curtailed .
