Get them ready to run through walls for you, Brendan

635

Managers often have the task of focussing players’ attention on the next game, instead of an important subsequent game a few days later, but Brendan Rodgers has an additional task in this respect right now.

You only need to speak to a fellow Celtic fan this week to understand what’s on all of our minds.  Two games over the next four days will make a significant impression on the season, but there is no certainty what the squad will look like when the second match takes place.  The closure of the transfer window in a little over 48 hours will loom just as large as Sunday’s league encounter with Newco.

This is where the manager earns his wages.  While tomorrow’s game against Suduva should present a straightforward challenge, you and I remember another Scottish team, no longer with us, going out of Europe to Lithuanian opposition just months after competing in the Uefa Cup Final.

Get them ready to run through walls for you, Brendan.

  1. “The fan’s will see to it that Lawwell is gone ?”

Aye, that’ll be the same fan’s who danced into the PLC’s £49 same club trap ?

    lol ;

    Ye see, it’s like this.

Celtic can’t possibly, be Celtic, until a, Corbynista mindset is directing the club.

It’ll take a season ticket bhoycott before that happens.

Whose fault is it, that we’re miles away from that happening ?

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  2. For the record I think the games this week are of little importance. We should easily win tomorrow by a margin of 4+ (they are rank rotten, not even lower SPL quality and they’re travelling away from him in Europe knowing the tie is all but over). The Rangers game is important for momentum only, the points aren’t hugely significant in the grand scheme of things. If we can’t beat them after their travels then it shows you how far we’ve fallen.

  3. Been off line all day. Log in expecting to see who we are looking to sign but instead we’re selling Moussa? Get right to f……. with that!

Jeezo! This is the most messed up transfer window I’ve ever seen.

48 hours to sort some of it out Pedro.

  4. My da came in fae work one night and told me we had transferred Bobby Evans, my favourite player at the time, my eyes immediately filled up, in an effort tae console me he said we had a better player coming through, and he was right big Billy.

When we sold Paddy Crerand, my favourite at that time he tried tae console me by saying it was either that or widening the tunnel for Pat’s heid, many years later Pat said that if he had stayed he widnae have got a game for Bobby Murdoch, that’s how much he rated him.

Later on that year on the night we were humiliated at hampden in the replay of the SC, I was in St Kessog’s Hall and our wee pastor tried tae console us by saying in a couple of years when that wee bhoy (Jinky) matures we will have night’s like this. He was right tae.

The only time I can recall NOT replacing a fan favourite with a player of equal, or better, ability was when Kenny left.

That’s just the way it is, players come and players go but the real Celtic supporters are still here.

  5. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

I hope PL at least comes out with a book of his memoirs for this transfer window.

Maybe titled “How to alienate supporters and please ra peepul”?

  6. I will wait until about two o’clock Sunday afternoon before I make up my mind where we stand. By then we will either be in or out of the Europas, we will know who we have in the players squad and will have either put Sevco back in their place or not. A lot going on in the life of a Celtic supporter in the next few days. We will just have to wait and see.

  7. Preparation for the CL qualifiers start now. I think that’s what the club fails to see. January is a rubbish window. We may have no ambitions to build fit the Europa but I’m sure everyone involved wants the riches of the CL.

  10. The measure of our transfer window can be detected in Paul’s leader.

I remember when Newco were dismissed as also rans , not worthy of being classed as a ‘big game’

None of that to be seen.

From Invincibility and a double treble to having genuine concern about the outcome is a dramatic fall from grace for us.

Quite simply the transfer window has been a disgrace, we are being played for fools by the Plc.

Yet again from a position of strength we have penny pinched and it has backfired.

I expect nothing less from that bunch of Charlatans.

The pursuit of money has always been the Celtic way.

We will more than likely loose our best Manager since Big Jock.

    It’s been a long 3 months

See once this “sack the board” starts to build up momentum – it’s going to be very difficult for anyone to stop.

Two wins from the next two games though and they will be off the hook for a bit.

Hopefully we can get the victories and things will settle down for a while.

There’s dozens of Celtic misery revellers on here hiding under the internet cloak of anonymity.

Peddling their agenda before, during and after the transfer window, which is of course the current belter of a big stick to beat the board with, no matter what side your on.

CQN hits are through the roof, as is reflective of the downside of the internet where every eejit, unfortunately can post ‘his opinion’.

The irony is the host that gives even the revellers a safe thoroughbred Celtic charitable football environment ( unlike ) other Celtic Blogs where they’d be mauled and subjected to all sorts of rabid Celtic bawbaggery.

They get away with on here as long as they are civil, and they keep coming back.

I know I am an outlier in this … but, honestly, who we sign or don’t sign isnt really a big issue for me….

frankly, if properly and motivated, our squad is more than good enough to beat the zombies ….

but, more importantly, if I had the choice, I would pick our Board calling out the cheating than Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappe signing for Celtic… the former (our Club’s integrity) isn’t something that should be for sale (transfer window or no transfer window).

  16. What is the Stars on

If Dembele wants to go I will drive him to the airport myself

    First offer I hope

  17. The upcoming Glasgow derby is undoubtedly a game to look forward to particularly with the respective managers involved but ffs it’s only the third match of the season with a helluva long road ahead before the Championship is decided. That game and the transfer saga have been the main topics on here all week but for me there is a very important game on Thursday night which will hopefully will see Celtic play yet again in Europe for another season – great for the image of the club especially when it comes to attracting players to sign for the team.

Thursday night’s game is last chance salon for European qualification and let’s hope we are not being blindesided by the Sudova minnows and Celtic this time transfer domination into goals

Do you post/read the other blogs?

The ones I read, your opinion would be in a minority.

That’s my last post, I can’t bear the on going abuse to fellow Celtic fans, because they have differing opinions.

  20. £49 tickets. Huns and football tourist. Real Celtic fans have ST. (If they can afford it – and if they can’t they don’t buy £49 tickets).

Seems like a fair price, if true. Hopefully, we have a piece of further transfers, as, if he can stay healthy, I think he will go to a bigger team for a lot more in the not too distant future.

  22. Reading back on some of the overtly sycophantic drivel written by some it is little wonder that posters like TET decided to leave. Dearie me question PL and your a panty wetter etc.

Hope that new hotel can play CF and CB.

  23. so at half year accounts we had £30.9 MILLION in tha bank.

    Cash available to spend.

Say we spent it all on expenses to the full year accounts on 30th June.

What did we take in during that time ?

    £20m on season books,

    £5m on sold out hospitality

£4m prize money for cup and league

    £7m for stuart armstrong

2nd hald payout for the champions league ?

the full year accounts are published in the next few weeks.

how much money will we have in the bank ?

    any guesses.

Agreed. When arsed and when fit a terrific young talent, I suspect we’ve baked in a sell-on fee.
