Delighted to see Brendan Rodgers is down to business at Lennoxtown, three weeks before the players return for preseason training. It’s interesting that he arranged an early opportunity to meet Scott Brown over a meal, and that this was made public.
Getting buy-in from senior players was one aspect of the job Ronny Deila allegedly didn’t achieve. The rights and wrongs of this can wait for Ronny’s autobiography, although you may wish to express an outsider’s opinion. All that matters to Brendan is that no one is able to speculate about the same issue on his watch.
There’s not much a manager can do three weeks before training starts than eat dinner with the captain, scout players and watch videos. I expect Brendan to have seen every minute of every Celtic game last season by the time players get back; there is lots to learn. In particular, what went wrong at the back to a team which broke defensive records in each of the previous two campaigns. You may wish to express an outsider’s opinion.
Those in the know warned us that blue collar crime is particularly difficult to prosecute, and so it’s transpired. Only Craig Whyte now faces trial in the Rangers fraud case, which saw remaining charges against Duff and Phelps’ administrators David Whitehouse and Paul Clark dropped at the High Court in Glasgow this morning. It’s far from a satisfactory outcome.
Good to hear the losing Scottish Cup final manager, who was left with some bears in Japanese forest for seven days by his parents, has been found safe and well, even if he has nothing to say for himself.

I am sure that Zlatans comments about wanting to experience playing in front of a Celtic crowd were very much in the “throw away” category.
However I see no harm in giving his agent a bell!

Over the past wee while I’ve seen a few references to Peaky Blinders. Never tried it but see that all 3 seasons are available on catch up so going to give it a go.
I wonder if this will join the ever growing list of “things I only discovered (or found out about first) following recommendations on CQN such as –

The Rhythm Of Time
There’s an inner thing in every man,
Do you know this thing my friend?
It has withstood the blows of a million years,
And will do so to the end.
It was born when time did not exist,
And it grew up out of life,
It cut down evil’s strangling vines,
Like a slashing searing knife.
It lit fires when fires were not,
And burnt the mind of man,
Tempering leadened hearts to steel,
From the time that time began.
It wept by the waters of Babylon,
And when all men were a loss,
It screeched in writhing agony,
And it hung bleeding from the Cross.
It died in Rome by lion and sword,
And in defiant cruel array,
When the deathly word was ‘Spartacus’
Along the Appian Way.
It marched with Wat the Tyler’s poor,
And frightened lord and king,
And it was emblazoned in their deathly stare,
As e’er a living thing.
It smiled in holy innocence,
Before conquistadors of old,
So meek and tame and unaware,
Of the deathly power of gold.
It burst forth through pitiful Paris streets,
And stormed the old Bastille,
And marched upon the serpent’s head,
And crushed it ‘neath its heel.
It died in blood on Buffalo Plains,
And starved by moons of rain,
Its heart was buried in Wounded Knee,
But it will come to rise again.
It screamed aloud by Kerry lakes,
As it was knelt upon the ground,
And it died in great defiance,
As they coldly shot it down.
It is found in every light of hope,
It knows no bounds nor space
It has risen in red and black and white,
It is there in every race.
It lies in the hearts of heroes dead,
It screams in tyrants’ eyes,
It has reached the peak of mountains high,
It comes searing ‘cross the skies.
It lights the dark of this prison cell,
It thunders forth its might,
It is ‘the undauntable thought’, my friend,
That thought that says ‘I’m right!’

I would definitely recommend Peaky Blinders, starting from the beginning. Post WW1 Birmingham setting, ex army brothers and friends form gang, get involved with Ulster Cops (the great Sam Neill), the Ira, rogue Priests, Winston Churchill, Billy Kimber at the race track, not to mention to mention the London Sabinis, Tom Hardy and the Romanovs. Eclectic soundtrack, which though not contemporary works a treat. Finale for this series next Thursday, well worth the effort before that, especially in the close season!
We are open to all but don’t allow them to make us sorry or timid of what we are and where we came from

as much as the programme has poetic license
it all happened for real
government records released
brilliant watch

Give. Yer old uncle a call,he likes family
saint stivs
That license, including the music, heightened the drama.
Great stories well told.
And even better acted.

BT is he still accepting the ol’ reverse the charges calls?
Celtic Mac
He always reverses the charges but loves you
I always call his landline because he dukes ma mob calls ☘
Saint Stivs
It is a very well produced pacy drams but it did not all happen for real.
The peaky blinders were a real gang but very much small time as far as far as crime heists and historical events. They were street brawlers and racetrack brawlers but they never achieved the big time nor were they involved with Central government as spies and allies. It’s as real as No Mean City and Johnnie Stark.
Still a very good drama, invented by Steven Knight from fragments of real events. Good to see Paddy Considine as the Rogue Priest. I rate him as the best of current British actors and he’s been great in a wide variety of off beat films.
