Giorgos Giakoumakis spectacular header to give Greece a late lead against Kosovo last night showed to an international audience what we have seen since his return from injury earlier this year. Giorgos is a talent and his acquisition from VVV Venlo for around £2.5m was spectacularly good business.
His solitary year in the Netherlands saw him finish top goal scorer in a season VVV were relegated. Celtic picked him up so cheaply as his career stalled after signing for AEK in 2017. He scored only once for the Athens club and saw two loan moves fail to spark his career.
At 27, Giorgos is not going to attract a lucrative offer from England. He is a player we should be able to rely on for the foreseeable future. When Kyogo is fit, Giorgos will struggle to make the starting line-up, but having a supporting cast of players with a point to prove is a big part of winning.

Home grown centre forward :
If through our ranks all the way, Gerry Creaney and Gerry Britton?
Really good Test Match this….
Surely Shaun Maloney and even Mark Burchill ?
Big Wavy : Good shout for Shaun Maloney, although I thought of him more as a midfielder.
Wouldn’t agree with Burchill as he wasn’t really a first pick imo and also had a couple of loan spells away in his three year Celtic career although he’d did play at various clubs for a good number of years.
Although scoring a goal against the hun does help his case. :)
Cillian Sheridan……didn’t play many games….
Just seen big Gias goal from last night. An absolute belter. Classic leap and timing. 👍
He’s probably 100/1 on to get booked in our first league game in July. 😂
Marc Burchill, what a waster that bhoy was, how rubbish must he have been that he couldnt get in the team before that dumplin fae sweden
I think I will be in a minority of one on this, but the games at the end of the season I would have played Gio before Kyogo, and I would start with the same next season.
I think he is magic,
Hh
England need to start taking a few wickets if they’re going to make a game of it tomorrow.

I know, but it should have been
Haaland gone, Nunez snapped up, and we are still dicking around.

Big Gio will score 30 plus goals next season
Now we’re talking.
Ronny Deila of Standard Liege
Good move for oor Ronny bhoy.
Tom
Kiwis now in danger of losing the match – but when you’re 1 down in a 3 match series they needed to go for a win. There was at least 4 very avoidable dismissals.
Astonishing number if Peruvians travelled to watch Australia game. Boyle and Irving start. Atkinson looks as if he has been moved to left side center back, from right back. Ryan and Mooy also start. Tam Rogic’s ‘ personal’ reason for absence seems to have extended to this game.
Mexican commentator up to high doh already!
Big lad who just signed for Hertz also playing. Nominally at right back, but I’m sure he’ll swap with Atkinson.
Peruvian players singing anthem with gusto, although none of them can carry a note in a bucket.😂
And away we go.

Yes, too many soft wickets, especially the 2 crazy run-outs. Should be a good watch tomorrow.
Boyle commits first foul. Needless one.
Go Aussies
Tremendous shot from Aussies. Just miss.
Peruvians head over bar.
Oz using long ball at every opportunity.
Nice passing from Mooy.
Juranovic starts at LB v France
Peruvians more skillful, Oz more physical so far.
Ronny Delia Leaves MLS for a new post in Belgium at Standard Leige ,Ronny was a good coach whilst at Celtic unfairly treated by some supporters and the present Celtic Directors.
Oz with more pressure so far, but Peru coming more into it.
Atlinson barely touches winger, goes down as if poleaxed, now Hertz man is booked.
Oz deal well with free kick.
Peru wearing reverse colours to the strip they wore when Cubillas destroyed us in 1974.
Irvine heads over bar from Boyle corner.
