GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS is in transfer limbo following reports MLS outfit Atlanta United have made an improved £4.3million bid for the Greek striker.
The Celtic frontman is also on the wanted list of J-League club Urawa Red Diamonds as the signing deadline edges closer.
The transfer market in Stateside and Japan is extended beyond midnight on Tuesday, but the champions want business concluded by that cut-off date istead of allowing the situation to drag on.
THE FINAL SAY…Giorgos Giakoumakis nets the second goal to seal a place in next month’s Viaplay League Cup Final. Kilmarnock keeper Sam Walker appeals after pushing away a shot from David Turnbull.
It’s unclear if Giakoumakis, who has sat out the previous two games against St Mirren and Morton, will be involved in the match day squad against Dundee United at Tannadice this afternoon.
Ange Postecoglou admitted: “There is still speculation around him.
“There’s nothing concrete, but it’s fair to say there is still interest in him. As with all these things, there has to be agreement among all parties.
“The player needs to want to go to the destination and we, as a football club, have to be satisfied that our demands are being met and the interested club need to be happy, too.”
The Hoops gaffer, speaking to the Daily Record, added: “It takes a little bit of time, but I am pretty relaxed about it. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t he stays part of our group moving forward.
TOPSY TURVY…Giorgos Giakoumakis’ career is about to change.
“As he has in the past, I’m sure he will get opportunities to contribute.
“As we stand right now there are still a few days to go, but with all the speculation around him it’s fair to say it’s uncertain.”
Giakoumakis claimed the clinching goal in the 2-0 Viaplay League Cup semi-final win over Kilmarnock at Hampden a fortnight ago, but hasn’t figured since.
The strike against the Rugby Park club was his ninth of the season and his first since his effort in the 1-1 Champions League draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in Glasgow on October 25.
