GIAKOUMAKIS: ‘NOT ON MY RADAR,’ ADMITS ANGE

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has made it abundantly clear that Giorgos Giakoumakis’ future is no longer his concern.

The Greek striker’s move to MLS club Atlanta United is in the balance, but there will be no way back to Celtic.

Postecoglou admitted Giakoumakis is no longer “on his radar” and claimed Instagram users would find out about the on/off transfer before he does.

The 28-year-old frontman was brought to Celtic by the Greek-Australian gaffer in a £2.5million switch from Dutch minnows VVV-Venlo in August 2021.

FALL GUY…Giorgos Giakoumakis is yesterday’s hero as far as Ange Postecoglou is concerned.

However, he knocked back the offer of an enhanced contract in November to trigger intense speculation about his next move.

In the meantime, Postecoglou has brought in South Korean international forward Oh Hyeon-gyu as a direct replacement and Giakoumakis is yesterday’s man as the manager prepares for Sunday’s Premiership trip to McDiarmid Park to take on St Johnstone in the midday kick-off.

The Parkhead chief, speaking to Celtic TV, said: “It will get concluded fairly soon. To be honest, it’s not on my radar any more.

“I will probably hear it about the same time as you guys. Maybe, if you are on Instagram, you will hear about it earlier than me.

“It’s not on my radar, I don’t expect him back in the group, but it hasn’t been finalised yet.”

THE WAY AHEAD…South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu is ready to make an impact at Celtic.

Postecoglou has no fresh injury worries after the 3-0 midweek win over Livingston in the east end of Glasgow.

However, Scotland international defender Anthony Ralston is still out with his back problem, but should be back in contention next week ahead of the Scottish Cup visit from St Mirren.

Alistair Johnston, who arrived in a £3.5million move from CF Montreal last month, will continue in the No.2 berth.
