Malcolm Murray, the newly appointed chairman of the Newco club Charles Green hopes to establish, yesterday entertained us with his comments on punishments served on a football team suspected of cheating you for over a decade. He said:
“We’ve had giant punishments already – a European ban, a 10-point deduction, the emotional trauma everyone has suffered. I think, for the good of Scottish football, it’s much better Rangers in the SPL.”
There has been no European ban. Newco will not be eligible for European competition because it is a Newco and Uefa requires three years accounts from participating clubs. They are simply not eligible, they have not and will not achieve the qualification criteria for European football for three years.
The 10-point penalty imposed on Rangers last season for seeking protection from creditors by going into administration is hardly a “giant” punishment. It changed nothing. Rangers were second in the league when it was imposed and remained so. They released no players and went on to defeat Motherwell twice, ensuring they finished the league in second place, earning £900k in additional prize money.
As a punishment, it is the equivalent of banning Ally McCoist from this year’s 100m Olympic competition. Pointless.
Which leaves us with “the emotional trauma everyone has suffered”. Compared to the emotional trauma suffered by Dundee, Motherwell, Gretna, Third Lanark fans, recent events have been nothing more than a focus for some robust rallying calls.
Don’t even start me on the emotional cost of losing the league in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011, all to a team of cheats. How do you measure that? Think back to each day we lost those titles and tell me how you felt about them then and how you feel now, knowing you were cheated.

You are out of order mate; Burley is an agitating hun with a microphone.
The question we must all ask is, what favours did he do to get one?

Last season, like the ones which went before it, rangers played at home at the same time as Dundee Utd on many occasions through the season.
I wonder if the fixtures, released tomorrow will have any occasions when Dundee Utd and “Team X” are playing at home at the same time, on the same day. It would be curious if the two were not playing at home at the same time at least once, over the course of the whole season.
Unless, of course, Tayside police would have concerns about Dundee Utd and “Team X” playing at home at the same time.
We shall see tomorrow…

What about SFL fixtures? Will they also show Team X? Which could be Dundee, or Arbroath, or newco.

Oh wait, don’t start Ragers film titles.
SSN no huns in the spl fixtures tomorrow confirmed
From a conversation last night, it looks as though Green will oppose any player leaving on a ‘free’
It seems as though his threat is to drag it out in the courts thereby leaving the player/players in limbo and various clubs then losing interest in said players
Green would be more receptive in allowing the players to leave at a reduced fee, less than what they agreed with D+P a few months ago (i.e. McGregor £2m now circa £1m-£1.25m)

That was my reading of it. History tends to favour Dunfermline though.
What does it mean that the SPL are producing fixtures for next season? Leaving the “who is club x?” question to the side, were we not told yesterday that the SPL and SFL were to merge before next season?
When the fixtures are released tomorrow my guess is that Team X will be away from home, on each date Celtic play at Paradise.

Are you able to shed a light on the following?
How likely is it a case could be ‘rushed through’ to appear at a CoS hearing bearing in mind a player could be ‘in limbo’ for x amount of weeks/months?
If the player won the said court case, would he be able to sue SevCo for loss of earnings in that period, seeing as he wouldn’t be able to sign/play for any club?

Even in these times of exciting happenings for the Celtic family, Kano’s forthcoming adventure has brought the biggest of smiles to my grumphy old coupon.
Well done to all concerned.
Kano & Wee Oscar are an example to us all.

I thought I had read somewhere late yesterday that SFA in their usual non-eanting-to-make-a-decision cowardice had asked FIFA for guidance re player registrations.
If that’s the case, if FIFA rules are clear on this, then old Charlie taking players to court over this won’t go down well.
