Going one better next season

943

We had a special night at the Celtic Supporters’ Association’s 67th Annual Rally last night.  It was great to see our two treble winning captains: Tom Boyd giving praise to the giant of the European game, Billy McNeill.

I had a chat with Scott Brown, who received his Association Player of the Year award.  A day before he collects his fourth consecutive league championship trophy you’d think he would afford a moment of satisfaction, but he’s not happy this isn’t a treble winning season.  The events at Hampden last month have left an open wound.  All he could talk about was going one better next season.

Before you leave for the game tomorrow remember to bring along some change to buy a Ronny Roar badge to raise funds for the work of your Foundation.  See you there.

  7. Hibernian’s legendary bottle for the battle can be summarized as follows :-

Celtic raided us for players for which we have always resented them. This resentment is made manifest by the fact that we have conceded more goals to Celtic than has any other team in the universe

  8. I’ve been ssying for years on here that….the ‘only’ way that the orc-establishment will be challenged…then overcome is….if Celtic supporters screw-the-nut and, realise that…the only thing that the orc-establishment fear most is…being faced-off with a, Celtic board…full of rebellious Celtic supporters who ‘wont’ kow-tow.

Until that happens…be happy handing yer money over to a group of faceless-charlatans who will throw you to the dogs…on receipt of yer SB-money.

Now I ain’t looking to get into any arguments, take sides etc

There is a lot of faults with our board, and I agree with lots of the dissenters on here

    But

PL, is the CEO of our PLC Board – yip

He must then carry out the decisions and direction of this Board, to maximise returns for the entire Shareholding

We may not like it as Football Fans or supporters, and disagree, but that unfortunately is his role and remit.

McCall is a mid table manager with a mid table squad playing the 2nd worst team in the league.

McCoist’s greatest achievement was to keep them so crap for so long.

    Shame it had to end.

  14. Captain Beefheart on

    Sandman,

    Some fine posts recently.

What a contrast to those with the Rangers fixation.

  15. .

“It was surreal,” recalled Dean Shiels, who played for Hibs that day and is now in his third season with Rangers. “We were getting beaten 1-0 and that suited us because we were in Europe if we avoided losing three or four. Obviously 1-0 suited Rangers and I have never played in a match like it in my life.

“I remember chatting to Ferguson and Michael Ball during the game. We had time to talk on the pitch because there was no action happening. We were just sitting off the game and the Rangers back four were just passing the ball across the pitch. We were in no rush to chase the ball, we were happy to lose 1-0.”

    ..

Imagine a Motherwell (Celtic Supporting Player) making that Statement ..

    Hmmm..

  17. Dont really read much of the stuff about the huns to be honest.. they will sadly always be around in some form.

this has been going on few years now..we were first told not to panic celtic silence on voting them out of league etc was perfect .. few years later the silence is still there.

Our only hope is we stay miles ahead of them and keep hammering them year in year out.

Would love to be going to paradise tomorrow to thank the players for their efforts and the whole coaching staff.. our club has its problems no doubt about it.

But tomorrow is a celebration and there is no better site than a packed paradise partying.

I wont see the game until wednesday.

    One love ✊

Celtic apparently have nothing to do with all the cheating that led to the huns being liquidated-reborn-etc-blah-blah……eh, did Celtic’s customers not pay into a ‘sport’ and, watch as the then huns ‘stole’ 22 trophy’s and, tens of £millions of CL-money…?

Apart from Aberdeen being done-oot the treble in 1991….I canny see any other victims.

Celtic should have insisted that, the huns be removed from the game of football…awe the gither…until, they were properly investigated and, all the money that they stole was paid back….but, Celtic got away with having to make taht call coz…their ‘easily-kidded-fans were gorging on jelly & ice cream coz…the huns were put out the SPL.

The jelly & ice cream should have been put away again until….the licence that the huns were given till they were properly investigated….imho

  19. KevJ –

So all Celtic had to do was “insist that the huns be removed from football altogether” and it would have happened?

When was the last time you visited planet Earth?

  20. Afternoon Timland from a hot hun free mountain valley.

Just logged on, noticed some saying Sandman had written a good post, went to read it and it’s gone.

  22. Cowiebhoy, I reluctantly agree re PL and his role as CEO. Some people are never happy, but I am relieved that Celtic are on a firm financial footing. And for that, I’m glad we have PL. Better the devil you know I suppose.

Kevjungle you talk about the board throwing us to the dogs. What exactly do you mean?

Football clubs the world over are now run as a business first. Sadly that’s the way it is these days.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
