Going one better next season

943

We had a special night at the Celtic Supporters’ Association’s 67th Annual Rally last night.  It was great to see our two treble winning captains: Tom Boyd giving praise to the giant of the European game, Billy McNeill.

I had a chat with Scott Brown, who received his Association Player of the Year award.  A day before he collects his fourth consecutive league championship trophy you’d think he would afford a moment of satisfaction, but he’s not happy this isn’t a treble winning season.  The events at Hampden last month have left an open wound.  All he could talk about was going one better next season.

Before you leave for the game tomorrow remember to bring along some change to buy a Ronny Roar badge to raise funds for the work of your Foundation.  See you there.

Quite naturally Celtic fans are left puzzled in the SFA role of Peter Lawell but can surely only conclude if he had an opinion, vote or input into the fit and proper decision it was a no vote, wasn’t it?

I don’t think he would have been asked, and his role is junior ,and purpose built to pay lip service to Celtic, who can’t even publish the answers to our own internal matters of concern , like why we’re not in a Cup final.

We’re left with no answers normal service continues and the angst on CQN is caused by the backdrop of a continuous sickening smell of SFA corruption, aided by embarrassing SMSM triumphalism of a new saviour, for the new club.

His interview was offensive to every single football fan in Scotland never mind the trail of creditors, boasting of non existent debt and riches,.Celtic fans are being reminded on a daily basis, that we play in a country where we are at variance, with the massive silent majority of the Scottish population.

With the formalities of the play offs concluded, SMSM will feast on a summer of ‘war chests ‘ from ‘investments’ they’ll line up bosman’s linking Sevco with every known big named freebie in Europe. They’ll scrimp past on King’s latest loan , towards the season ticket money but the SMSM will have played the major role in getting them towards Christmas via the rallying calls and return of Rainjurs.

I think Celtic fans will come and go, like we’ve been doing since the halcyon days of when the stadium was completed, like football all across the world, crowds will drop.

With a team of loans and bosman’s a half decent coach they’ll zombie on, to beat SPL sides, but they can’t beat Celtic, not with a Celtic sized fulcrum firmly behind our club, we already won.

I have previously advocated the Belfast Celtic route.

However, it has been suggested in the past that Belfast Celtic’s directors had ulterior motives for withdrawing the club from NI football.

Nimmo Smith wasn’ t working as a judge , it wasn’t a Court of Law..The man was asked to do a job similar to the job asked of Chartered Surveyor told to report on the presence of wet rot ( and nothing else ) in a house riddled with dry rot ..His other task was to speak to an expert witness( employed by the people who commisioned the report ) and then paraphrase the words of that expert witness.Man did his job.

  11. Middlesbrough and Norwich City face each other in the Championship play-off final on Monday, with a Premier League place and an estimated £120m windfall on offer to the winners at Wembley.

  12. Quonno,

    Reign in what paranoia ?

Yer no paranoid enough but the useful idiots will tell you there’s no corruption and you are paranoid even after everything they’ve witnessed.

    BSR,

We’ve been beaten by many many teams with far less resources than sevco, it will suit certain people to rekindle a sense of competition.

    SOT

correct …too many seem to think he was involved in some great cover up

The main issue was the way the evidence was presented by the SFA …of which we are a member ….

  16. Gary67,

As I suspected 6-2 however I am surprised to see topping instead of Petrie in the dissenters camp.

  17. IF they beat Motherwell, I don’t get the idea of them needing to spend 10 x millions to compete at the top.

Aberdeen and Dundee Utd spend nothing in the transfer market, don’thave sugar daddy owners and will have a 1/4 of the season ticket money Sevco will have.

If Sevco get rid of the deadwood this summer they will have the pick of any free transfers that are available in the SPL. Like it or not, majotity of SPL players will jump at the chance to play at Ibrox. As I see it, within a couple of seasons they should comfortably be in the top 3 without spending much more than they are now. The closer they get to us the easier it will be for them to attract better players and a better manager.

We can keep them at arms length by being yesrs ahead of them financially and organisationally but they will overtake the rest of them soon enough.

  18. Our party hasn’t even started yet and the bed wetters and towel throwers are out in force.

The amount of hand wringing going on today is absurd.

Sevco, the 15th best team in Scotland, still have to drag themselves over two more hurdles before they take a place at the bottom of the Premiere League.

I certainly don’t want them, but we will possibly have to welcome the newcomers to CP next season, and endure the baggage that accompanies them.

    Different shit. Same flies.

The Sevco side that emerges from the nether regions, will not resemble the one which cheated it’s way to numerous richly undeserved titles.

We saw in February their quality or lack thereof.

That side will be gutted as many are out of contract and most are over the hill and enjoying a final lucrative pay day.

Where will they find replacements? Their scouting department is an IT guy with a DVD burner.

How will they pay them? They don’t even have a biscuit tin.

Meanwhile across the city in Champions Town, the bunting is out for a celebration.

We have a meaner, fitter, hungrier side from the start of this current season.

Our young management team has a year of growth and experience under its belt.

We have the facilities and financial resources to pay our debtors, pay our players well, attract talent for around the globe and host the best fans and teams in Europe.

We are run professionally, and as far as I can tell from 3,500 miles away, we have a board that is united and focused on doing the best for Celtic. Whether we agree with their priorities, spending policy, buying or spending is what makes the digital world we inhabit so interesting.

The difference between us in every aspect is the length of London Road.

So those of us who will be present tomorrow should enjoy the celebrations.

Those of us who can’t should share and bask in the reflected joy.

  19. Deniabhoy,

and the sooner they get there the quicker they have access to European competition and everything will be back to normal
