Good and bad times to sign frees

71

Aaron Mooy (31) and Moritz Jenz (23) we’re added to the squad yesterday, one an experienced central midfielder Ange Postecoglou has known for years, the other an unknown to us but whom Celtic have watched for over a year.

There are times to worry about free and low cost signings and times to be reassured.  The time to worry is when they take place on 31 August: we’ve missed our top targets and have settled well down the list.

Only targets high on the list arrive as early as 19 July.

The wind is at Michael Nicholson’s back right now. It won’t always be this ‘easy’ to land targets, but we’re entitled to look forward to the season.

Millions would never have guessed there was any dispute between the BBC and Sevco, they still bent over backwards for them, and their hundits would have used their season tickets to see their heroes.

  2. VIVA ESPANA Tonight at the wummins Fitba.

The English Centre Forward ” Ellen White” is a absolute CHEAT/DIVER .

The so called Penalty that she ” WON” for Enguund in the game against Norway, was/is one of the worst decisions that I have ever seen in my life.

The BIASED English wummin Commentators at the time claimed it WAS a Penalty….at least Ian Wright as a Pundit appeared to be embarrassed by the “DIVE”…

NONE of the English Commentators or Pundits called it a DIVE and/or BLATANT CHEATING.

    Shameful

  3. TFOD2.1 vs local BBC — horrible to watch from afar.

The BBC have little or no spine nationally and there outpost in Glesga has even less.

Their roster of football people must have a Ludge all of its own.

They had no climbdown to make — they just had lose their residual journalistic integrity and all would be well.

We have the CFC gaslighting / wind up ongoing across all the local media.

Will we be able to notice the TFOD2.1 reporting change in tone at the Beeb?

It is not as if they will be tip of the spear in the coming season regarding TFOD2.1 media luv.

I fear it is old friends tying up some loose ends.

  4. The headline changed in the minute it took me to copy and paste the url. Someone’s got a bit over-excited

    Of course “On message” will seep through to Scotland and Wales. Their message is “Let’s not be beastly to the Tories!”. Sevco does not cross the thoughts of English based MPs. It odes get a fair bit of support from Dougie Ross, Andrew Bowie etc;

The Beeb was never totally impartial. It took sides in both the Scottish Independence referendum and the Brexit referendum. One of those campaigns managed to win despite BBC London bias- maybe the Independence movement and the Labour Party just don’t have enough Russian bots working for them.

Anyway- whatever message seeps through North of the border, it has nothing to do with save Sevco. Alex Salmond did more to intervene in 2012 than Boris Johnson or Ruth Davidson ever did.

Boris has a huge amount of sins to answer for but an interest in Sevco is not one of them.

I did not see anyone at the corner for the Blackburn game. I was with Big Jimmy and For Cierto just after 12 but the corner crowd had gone by the time I wandered over. I am missing the Norwich game as S & myself are off to Gweedore from Saturday till Tuesday- if we keep good time- might find a bar in Dungivan showing the match before I reach the homeland. Just a short trip to see the elderly relatives while they are still there. Very few of my parent’s generation left.

Catch up when we return- kitchen gets finished today.

  6. Ajax are like us – nothing to hide, no silly games with their local media, no shenanigans with their finances. Buy or sell a player and say how much the fee was.

    Transparent and straightforward.

Its a very decent fee from a club who get it wrong less often than just about anyone. I don’t fancy Bergwijn or Bassey, I wouldn’t be much fussed if we signed either of them, but they know what there doing. They got a good season out of Haller who looked an absolute Coo at West Ham and turned a profit of nearly £10m when they sold him to Dortmund. Terrible news about him going down with testicular cancer.

Agree with Ernie Lynch @ 1:39pm.

New stance: BBC Sport Network (i.e. England) welcome at Celtic Park.

    BBC Sport Scotland not welcome.

    Don’t use the word “banned”.

    No explanation or context necessary.

    Just “not welcome”.

    Let the inference be drawn.

Will it change their editorial position?

Not in the short to medium term.

Will anyone from Network even show up?

Probably not except possibly on a CL night against a superpower.

    (“Fix it yourself, Jock”)

But, over time, it will publicise the puppetry and true positioning of BBC Sport Scotland.

When the time finally comes to do something about it, we’ll be ready.

Someone on here pointed out that hun opposition teams tend to lose their manager before they play them. Found this on hun media:

‘Union Saint are NOT the side who did so well in the Jupiler – hell, they even lost their manager, with the new boss only in the job a month and a half.’

  10. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    BBC are a unique case.

We don’t approve of the fare offered by the rest of the media?

Us fans are empowered SIGNIFICANTLY to change that.

    Don’t buy, subscribe or consume.

But we can’t not pay our licence fee.

I enjoy watching Jesse Lingard play when I see him.. Think Man U screwed him over a little if I remember correctly.

I thought he would do alright up here but 140k a week at Forrest?

  12. Where is CQN Corner — asking for a friend?

  13. !!BADA BING!!

Thanks for that calendar sync you posted for matches. Nice to have them all on my phone with alerts.

  14. TFOD2.1 vs BBC Shortbread …

Could you make the case that the TFOD2.1 have folded and will now allow in whoever the Beeb send along?

The press release would give you the dry boak but it does seem to overplay the whole situation — would the Beeb on request admit to all its previous journalistic failures where it is on record of offering up an apology?

Consequently that would not really be news.

But TFOD2.1 folding regarding who it will allow into IP is the bigger issue that they would want to hide / offer up no detail or explanation.

After his excellent spell at West Ham you’d have thought he’d want to go there but it looks like they wont pay him what he wants while Forest will. You can’t blame Forest but he’ll be off again next Summer when they go down

From some paper called The Argus 9 June 2022

Union St-Gilloise have introduced their new boss – as he takes his first job as a head coach.

Karel Geraerts, 40, has taken charge at Tony Bloom’s Belgian club.

  19. Whilst we all get hung up over the BBC (They we’re always sexually aroused with all things hun) The manky mob just continue to freely spend any money they are likely to receive almost immediately on players x y and z , when the governing bodies ,media and every other club in Scotland should demand they be made to clear their debts

CELTIC: Hart, Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Welsh, Bernabei, McGregor, Hatate, O’Riley, Abada, Maeda, Forrest.

Subs: Bain, Siegrist, Jullien, Taylor, Kyogo, Turnbull, McCarthy, Jota, Johnston, Ideguchi, Lawal, Juranovic.

  21. With that abject apology from the BBC, how must Chris McLaughlin be feeling? BBC Scotland sports department is an utter disgrace and we have no option but to fund it. Celtic, imo, MUST do something. This is just wrong.

Now I hear their European opponents have a new manager. How often has this happened. Cannot just be the luck the draw so often….Let’s hope they get hammered.

  22. bournesouprecipe on

BBC (Scotland) have set dangerous precedent with the big climb down, next up Cinch? From the first minister down this country seems to be running scared of Sevco. The Government, the media, the Police, the SPL, SFA all terrified they are accused of hampering Rainjurz alleged reincarnation. The club has been running amok since its inception sometimes literally and they are hell bent on settling old Rainjurz perceived grievances.

A better Celtic might not be enough next season and beyond, unchallenged in 2012 the truth about Sevco should have been publicised. Instead they were pandered to, a decade later emboldened and reaping in millions of pounds, whilst Rangers are still in liquidation.

Celtic’s ‘abstention’ from the ‘same club myth’ says a great deal, not much of it good.

You should watch sky sports ticker tape, the amount TFOD are getting, potentially, varies from £22.6 m to £22.9m depending on what time you watch it.

Another interesting snippet or two, “achievable targets” mentioned about the fee for the rubbisher Ben Davies (not the good one) just to bump up the cost, apparently Kent’s goal last night was fantastic, the guy needed a lie down after reading the scripted pish.
