Good Friday is just another Friday for you

1828

Sometimes it seems there is a constant struggle underway for the heart and soul of Celtic.  It is incredible that for 125 years a community has managed to retain the conviction to help the less fortunate which drove forward those who formed the club.

Scarcely a day goes by without me receiving a message from someone offering to help those in need.  This week it was tables for the Wayside Club Gala Dinner (Saturday 27 April, check it out here), someone send in a box set of the Byrds, to raise money ‘for the homeless’, and a reader parted with a precious top signed by the Seville team, which I’ve to collect in Glasgow.

Much of this goes on below radar but when a call to arms is needed it goes out in impressive clarity; the Wee Oscar campaign slipped into an infrastructure established when Kano took ill a few years back (hope you are doing well, Kano and we hear from you soon).  Believe me, some of the work, and many of the discrete donations, would blow you away.

None of this is random.  At some point each and every person who has stepped forward did so, knowingly or not, because of the way the Celtic Movement infected them.

A number of Celtic fans, and one former treble winning captain, are helping the Celtic Charity this year with the objective of encouraging each Celtic fan to raise £125.  It feels like the right thing to do and if you’ve not brought yourself up to speed with the project yet, do it this weekend (more information here).

There will be formal events throughout the year but if you want to do a sponsored run/walk/cycle/jig, this is your invitation.  You are reading this stuff because of your link all the way back to that hall in the Calton; get involved and earn your place in that 125-year-old story.

The next major event is a mass huddle at the top of Ben Nevis, check it out here.

Enjoy your Easter holiday – but not before you get involved………

I agree that the response to the GB gathering was intemperate, and said exactly so on this Blog, as it was happening at the time, in different words.

Sadly, there is a direct correlation between the proposed march and the continuing game in Scotland, because people are being discrimated against whether in the GB or not, and are all Celtic supporters.

Dwindling attendances at Celtic Park are for many reasons, cheating and discrimination, civil rights marches.

It’s all part of the Scottish scene.

Doncaster on shortbread – says he wants a pyramid system so clubs can come into the league and work their way up. So why prevent such clubs applying for the vacant place in the league last year???

Don’t waste your time mate , I emailed the Evening Times regarding 2 articles in an edition which used the term OF to link the cheats to us .

I told them that the OF couldn’t exist any longer as the cheats had been liquidated .

No answer , not even to argue their case . Cheats and cowards.

Keevins highly criticising the Dunfermline fans for the low attendances at recent home games ……. Don’t recall him criticising oldco for trying to destry Scottish Football…

Refuses to answer the “Rangers” into SPL2 question. Definitely doesn’t say no. Heck, why not SPL1…..???

If Jon Daly signs for sevco, it will accelerate the liquidation of sevco …. The hoardes will disappear back down their stanks in their droves…..

Just home from watching the under 13 Academy cup games

Celtic drew Nil all with Espanyol and Arsenal beat Den Haag 2.0

Celtic were the better team missed at least 3 good goal scoring chances throughout the game though nearly caught by a sucker punch counter attack by Espanyol on the stroke of half time which saw the ball come back off the the crossbar

Arsenal beat Den Haag comfortably enough but I felt sorry for Den Haag as it was their second game today

So tomorrow Celtic play the local team St Kevins at 10 am (needing a 3-0 win to top the group) and Arsenal play WBA (winner tops their group)

I will be there and will update you on the young Celts at Midday

The SFA took a punt on granting a licence last season, they are going to have to do so again but this time have actual expenditure v income data to examine as opposed to what can only have been CG’s best estimates. Its going to be an interesting couple of months.

    ————————————————————————————————————-

Sorry but I just don’t think it will be an issue. They shouldn’t have got into the league last season. Now they’re in they’ll be here to stay.

Clearly there has been political/police pressure to have a team called “Rangers” playing football. Remember Regan’s comments about “social unrest” if there wasn’t – does anyone really think he came up with that himself?

So Celtic and Sevco will share the same kit sponsors next year – C&C Group, formerly Cantrell & Cochrane of Dublin – albeit wearing competing products from their ‘stable’ of ciders.

I wonder how much of this was always the C&C plan, how much of it was known at the time the Celtic announcement was made?

    —–

    Tooting,

The CEO of C&C ( I think he was the CEO ) stated at the time of the Celtic sponsorship announcement that they were also in talks with Sevco about a sponsorship deal.

yes its a good little tournament organised by my local schoolboy soccer club St Kevins

Games are played very close to where I live

    Some good football on view

So far West Brom and Arsenal have looked good but both their games were against Den Haag who might be the weakest team

Espanyol beat St Kevins 2-0 (didnt see that game) but Celtic should have beaten Espanyol

    All to play for tomorrow

I will be there at 10 am

Their bigoted following will desert them in even larger numbers than they are now.

Question. Does John Daly bless himself on the pitch at all ?

If so has he been put in the picture yet?

Question to John Daly. What’s going on in that head of yours ?

  26. They are so desperate to stay in the game and have swallowed so much crap that they will accept anyone who would turn out from them.

They have abandoned even their own low standards.

That’s a dangerous game for Celtic to play in my opinion , if true . Theres only so much supporters will take before many will say they are finished with football in this country .
