CRAIG GORDON has praised defensive double-act Virgil van Dijk and Jason Denayer as Celtic zero in on the treble.
The comeback keeper said: “We’ve not conceded many goals in any competition.MgDCXXGUidlIiFWwm6kmm35aet2lVWbhM2dnZwUPubw
“We’ve been working on that since the start of the season as the manager wanted us to defend in a slightly different way.

“It was something that we had to work on and now that we understand the gist of what he was trying to get us to do, it’s certainly working well.“Virgil and Jason are right up there with the very best and are possibly the best I’ve ever played alongside.

“The attributes that they have are suited for defending in modern-day football as they are both so quick, they can both head the ball and they can pass it out from the back and start the moves off.”

Gordon, speaking to the Celtic View, added: “They are always looking to get the ball from me and that makes my job a lot easier.
“It’s fantastic that they have gelled as a partnership and it has been brilliant for me to get back into football and have two guys like that in front of me.“We don’t just knock it long very often, we try and build from the back and that’s the style of play the manager wants us to play and we’ve got guys back there that are comfortable on the ball.”
