GORDON PRAISES MATES

CRAIG GORDON believes Celtic possess the backbone required to win the domestic treble.
The in-form keeper admits he has been hugely impressed by Virgil Van Dijk, Nir Bitton and Leigh Griffiths as the Hoops maintain their silverware surge.
Gordon said: “Virgil has become the leader of the defence and has become a lot more vocal.WPXbkMTbFT4gIaDZ_bvvXEGiWlLF1s0B_E-lZ9nU4mw
“He has been the stand-out player almost every week.
“Nir is really calm and collected on the ball and he has added more forward passes to his game and started to be a creative force in there.
“You saw his long-range pass for the goal against St Johnstone after 30 seconds recently. It was a fantastic ball.
“He has really grown into that role and understands what the manager is looking for from him.

“I think he has been a massive plus coming into the team. He also has stature as he’s a big guy and is a good presence in there alongside Scott Brown.”

Gordon added: “A lot of players have stepped up. Leigh Griffiths has come in over the last few games and scored goals after not starting at the beginning of the season.
“He has worked very hard to force himself into the manager’s plans.LC_CELTIC_RANGERS_0824

“That’s right down the middle of the team and that’s exactly what you need, players playing well down the spine of the team.

“That gives us the platform to go and play well.

“But it’s a collective effort. We have used a number of different players at different times and that’s always going to be the case when you play the amount of games we do.

“It’s a long hard season and, hopefully, we can continue the way we have been going and make sure it’s a successful one.”
