Government allows drinkers into pubs as football fans wait

548

Yesterday we learned that the Scottish Government hoped to authorise socially distanced outdoor events from 23 July.  Reports today suggest the club “plan” to have 30,000 fans at games by August.

Before that happens, the virus must continue on its current trajectory, the social ‘distance’ must reduce from 2m and the Government needs to give the green light.

When we are back at football, it will feel more like an airport experience, with temperature checks, travel flow guidelines, sanitise stations, masks and the kind of distancing rules that will make the prohibition on horizontal movement look like a swearing ban.

I don’t think there is much sympathy from the politicians for football’s position – they have more important things to worry about, but what Celtic and the SRU in particular have assured, is that football can be as safe, if not safer, than most other outdoor activities, and safer than all social indoor ones.  When the Government allows drinkers into pubs and beer gardens, they will find it difficult to revert to their usual antagonistic approach to football fans.

Still nothing from Celtic on any of this, which is right.  Under-promise when you cannot control events.  And no one is campaigning for a return, wait until we are safe and be fair.

The e Tim’s are correct. Whether it will amount to any conclusion is another matter.

If licence correctly granted according to them, then case closed and they might state that.

If not, fear of consequences might produce nothing or a fudge, but the SFA’s handling of the case from 2011 to 2020 should be of some integrity concerns to them.

  2. Have The Klan not kombusted yet????

  3. Looking at the pictures of Patrick Klimala on his return ,could he not have taken Mikey along with him.Serious work has been done by the boy in the 3 month lay off.No one will be shoving him off the ball easily.Hopefully see a good bit of him over in France.Deserves his chance.

According to T’internet,Southampton want to include N’tcham as part of the deal for Big Frazer. If true, hope Celtic tell them to eff off unless its Frazer and 5 million we would receive.

  4. Would be a right early season treat to hump that shower, not the team, the Fascist scum that follow them, over in France in a couple of weeks.Oh,and Moussa bang in a few against them, for Lyon.

  5. Are we really favourites to sign Ryan Fraser?

    Sounds pish to me….

    Don’t sell N’tcham either please…..

  6. I see ticket office open up tomorrow. Hopefully helps those who have been struggling to date.

I suspect the club doesn’t want to move en masse to the waiting list until all existing ST holders have had the chance to renew, if they can and if they wish.

  7. I’d be looking for Fraser and ten million for ntcham. Even then, I’d only consider it.

He (BT`s Dad) detests the fact that MSM and fans treat them as if they where same club and is concerned about their income flow and how they are more rancid as a support than ever as we can all see throughout Scotland and the UK in general with their right wing behaviour ”

My view as well. Reassuring to see that an ex-player feels that way. I would smile contendedly if some current ( NO !) players made similar comments.

  10. Hi Bhoys

This will be the first time i’ve seen KT in action since his move. The camera panned down the Arsenal team and the bhoy didn’t look to happy. I hope i’m wrong because he deserved his financial reward.

I also hope i’m dead right and that he will return home very soon.

Fairhill Bhoy have you got any inside info you can share?

  11. Some fascinating debate to read back on.

Auldheid, I’m sure I remember your good self speaking on here about the two things that are seldom found in Glasgow – salad and forgiveness.

I wish Res12 had succeeded. I think the Resolutioners were treated appallingly by the business leaders of the club.

Auldheid et al. deserve much better.

We all do. But this, I fear, is as much as we’ll get.

And I think that same business leadership will always carry the stain of complicity in the 5 Way Agreement.

There was a unique opportunity to clean up the corruption endemic in Scottish football administration and to introduce proper governance.

But a Celtic director at the time of Ranger’s liquidation told me in person how much he longed for their return for commercial reasons. We know that the principal shareholder felt the same, and longed for the return of our great rivals.

And has also been said, many longed for their return for footballing competition.

Personally, I loved it when they were absent. And I long for a day when our business model and self definition are set in a far wider context of football.

The ‘continuation myth’ is well established among sevconians and the media. Few in Scottish football, or even within our own support, have the appetite to rake over old scores. I do…..but I can nurse a grudge for years, so I can!

Hot Smoked wrote eloquently about his ‘duality’ between the Club and the plc. For that reason, I renewed yesterday.

For me, the best and perhaps only way to offset their cheating ways is to beat them off the park and out of sight. My 2 season books are my commitment to that fight. Oh and 3 stunning Adidas taps too.

  14. KT involved in 2 good moves. First a shot just wide , then a great cut back for Pepe which brought out a good save.

Only reason I’m watching this dross is KT – well that and the fact it is winter outside.

Hello again all you young rebels.

    JAMESGANG

Great post, just sums up the whole situation, and the new Adidas

kits, are a masterstroke by our much maligned board.

They can definitely read us like a book.

Like yourself and others on here we offered up our shares in the

club to help fight the corruption between the SFA and the hun

through the magnificent efforts of the res 12 bhoys.

But it’s looking like there’s a general acceptance now that the

only satisfaction we’ll have is, we know they cheated, they know

they cheated, do they give a feck?

Does the majority of the Celtic support outwith this blog give a feck?

  16. i’m not sure how to use the forum on here as layout seems a bit different to other forums. i’m looking to post an advise about a family member who is a long standing poster/contributor on here – under the username ‘hunderbirdsaregone’ .

Unfortunately, he is very close to the end of life now. He has terminal illness and his immediate family are with him right now. it may just be a matter of hours now before he passes on.

is there a better way to share this on here so those who know him and engaged often are aware please?

  17. I’m afraid I don’t likecthec3 Adidas stripes on the shoulders on the hoops, spoils it for me.

Just to let you know we are all aware of HUNDERBIRDS illness.

Prayers and thoughts go to him and his family at this sad time .

Thank you for the update. All the blog’s thoughts and prayers are with the family and all concerned at this very difficult time. We have been kept informed, but it doesn’t make the latest news any less sad.

  20. thanks guys. he’s peaceful right now and in a calm place. just a matter of time but at least in no pain which i know is at least solace to his kids right now during this really tough time for them.

  21. THESAINT – you have done the right thing there. Most days there is a new lead article and all of the subsequent comments are under that, page after page. There’s no separate threads or discussions. I think it was Friday that we, on here, first received that news update on Hunderbirdsaregone. Difficult times.

  22. thanks JB. his daughter asked me to send everyone on here a message from him to say how much he enjoyed engaging closely with you all during the years that have passed. it brought him great entertainment and friendship from many of you and is another aspect of comfort knowing he was thought highly of by so many. without detailing the connections he is family to me and it’s an emotional time right now. So many good memories to draw upon over the tough days that are coming and his light will always be part of our lives.

Logging off now bhoys and ghirls, sad news like that puts

our little gripes and arguements into perspective.

A great poster , HUNDERBIRDS, one of our own.

God bless him and his family.

I should have added my thanks for the update – I was in church this morning and offered prayers that if inevitable he passed his final journey with dignity and without pain.
