Government allows drinkers into pubs as football fans wait

548

Yesterday we learned that the Scottish Government hoped to authorise socially distanced outdoor events from 23 July.  Reports today suggest the club “plan” to have 30,000 fans at games by August.

Before that happens, the virus must continue on its current trajectory, the social ‘distance’ must reduce from 2m and the Government needs to give the green light.

When we are back at football, it will feel more like an airport experience, with temperature checks, travel flow guidelines, sanitise stations, masks and the kind of distancing rules that will make the prohibition on horizontal movement look like a swearing ban.

I don’t think there is much sympathy from the politicians for football’s position – they have more important things to worry about, but what Celtic and the SRU in particular have assured, is that football can be as safe, if not safer, than most other outdoor activities, and safer than all social indoor ones.  When the Government allows drinkers into pubs and beer gardens, they will find it difficult to revert to their usual antagonistic approach to football fans.

Still nothing from Celtic on any of this, which is right.  Under-promise when you cannot control events.  And no one is campaigning for a return, wait until we are safe and be fair.

Face coverings mandatory on the trains and people are “advised” to wait on next train if train is full … so far Edinburgh to Glasgow line carriages have been near empty but on a match day this will change … I wonder how long Supporters buses will last with the new rules

  3. Big Jimmy, keep your head up, and stay strong fella, a lot of folk on here rooting for you and lots of positive energy coming your way.

Yes he was the Scotland Manager that beat world Champions England and we were European Champions. So maybe some newspaper wanted that picture.

  7. St Stivs,

Not saying KT was a bad defender, what I said was he was never outstanding. He was a good defender, but outstanding going forward. We lost a good few goals in Europe ,all from down KTs side.Boli has been getting slaughtered for the same thing.Getting caught up the park, attacking.Happened to KT regularly.Unlike some,I dont have selective memory.

Not Christy I’m sure. I thought it could be Partick Manager Davie Mcparland

Trust me it’s NOT Davie Mc Parland.

    KEEP THE FAITH

I’ll say it again for the hard of hearing.THERE is not a LB at Celtic today or tomorrow who could lace KTs boots.Seems like selective memory works both ways .

  10. KT was definitely targeted as a weak link by Borussia Mönchengladbach during the home tie at Celtic park. He is not McGrain by any means and although I was gutted when he left I felt £25M was a nice price and I still reckon he will come back to Celtic in the future.

  11. Don’t think wee Frimpong is the best defensively …. doesn’t mean the wee man isn’t magic

Opinions make the blog .. no right or wrong … although pretty sure most of us think we are right

The maestro will always be my Mr Celtic

  12. fairhill bhoy on

Moussa seems to get a free ride on here because he fell out with the ‘snake’ manager .

He did what every player we have sold for big money did.

  13. fairhill bhoy on

Just to be clear, I would have the maestro in my top 3.I was at parkhead when he threw his shirt into the crowd. It was meant to be his last game. But it wasn’t.Who wouldn’t have loved to see him strut his stuff in Italy

  14. Watching Southampton v Arsenal,Kerian Tierney, being substituted ,Calf injury flaring up again,I Hope I’m wrong but I get a feeling that his days of playing football are numbered.as far as Bolingoli I see a player there maybe try’s to hard at times, and honestly I think it’s time all Celtic Supporters stop reading or listening to the media in this Country,we all know they are anti Celtic, and as for a lot of players that have played for us , they the press put the boot into them, and sadly many of our supporters buy into there comments

  15. Don’t think Dembelle lived his dream wearing the hoops … and Moussa gets a hard time from this household (my daughter) … when Lyon are on the box she cheers the other team, funnily enough much the same with Leicester.. and Arsenal … quite the opposite from her Auld man … they all choose to leave so in order of preference I want Kieran to do well, Moussa to do 2nd best well and finally Brendan to do 3rd best … all three (in my opinion) were terrific for the Hoops but give me Greg Taylor, Neil Lennon & Leigh Griffiths every day of the week… I much prefer Celtic players that want to be here

Life changes, as we all know, hopefully we all can appreciate what we have :-)

Cheers .. good to be back, enjoy the golf it’s been a godsend for my two older brothers

The other Sunday I bet Jason Kokrak on the final day at 250/1… (only 4 shots behind) small wager eachway he got beat by 1 shot !!!

  17. fairhill bhoy on

It would be interesting to see how many games KT played consecutive without injury for Celtic 😉

  18. fairhill bhoy on

Every Celtic player wants to be here ,till that offer comes in.

    Everyone knows that .

Looks a bit like Kenneth wolstenholme?”

I agree but I don`t think it is.

I might struggle to fall asleep tonight !!!

  20. Liverpool winning their League so convincingly helps us a little bit in that the ever desperate MSSM cannot use the EPL as an example of how Celtic might not have won the title here.
