GRANT TO JOIN SCOTS SET-UP



CELTIC hero Peter Grant is poised to join Alex McLeish’s new-look Scotland international set-up.

The returning boss wants the former Hoops midfielder as his assistant manager.

Grant, who is currently Youth Development coach at Championship side Fulham, is likely to agree to become McLeish’s No.2.

And James McFadden, the hero of the Tartan Army, is also ready to step up after confirming an approach from the SFA.

The former Motherwell, Everton and Birmingham striker, who scored the famous winner against France in Paris in 2008, will become a coach .

McFadden earned the last of his 48 caps in 2010 and played under McLeish during his first spell in charge of of the international team.

The duo also linked up at St Andrews and McFadden is looking forward to working with him again.

He said: “I’ve been approached to join the coaching staff with the national side and I’m due to meet with Alex McLeish at some point next week, so it’s something I’m looking forward to.

“Alex has asked me to be part of his staff and, all going well, then that will be the case. “
