KASPER SCHMEICHEL has thanked fans for their support following his dramatic revelation his Celtic career could be over.
The legendary Danish keeper admitted the persistent shoulder injury he sustained playing for his country against Portugal a year ago may mean he has played his last game, as CQN reported yesterday.
Accepting the possibility of a lengthy period on the sidelines, the 39-year-old 120 times-capped shotstopper stated: “It’s looking like 10-12 months of rehab.”

THAT’S MY BHOY…Martin O’Neill and Kasper Schmeichel.
Schmeichel last played for the champions in the 2-1 loss to Hibs at Parkhead on February 22 with Viljami Sinisalo taking over for five successive outings and the Finnish international will be in the No.1 position when Martin O’Neill takes the champions to Tannadice for Sunday’s 12.30pm kick-off against Dundee United.
Relieved at making the shock announcement, Schmeichel, speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, admitted: “I just wanted to get it out there as there have been so many questions.
“People have been nice and have asked: ‘Are you alright?’
“So, I think it was just good to get it out there.
“I have had a great reaction.
“I will get back to everyone as my phone has been on fire.”
Schmeichel took over from the retiring Joe Hart in the summer of 2024 after leaving Anderlecht at the end of his contract and won the Premiership title and Premier Sports League Cup in his debut campaign.
