Great work by Celtic fans from Kenya to London Road

309

A group of Celtic supporters ‘Kenyan Volunteers’, who volunteered to work with some of the most impoverished communities in Kenya, reunite at Celtic Park this afternoon after returning from Africa earlier this month.  Volunteer, Robert Bogan, asked me to pass on a thank you from the group to all Celtic supporters who made the trip possible.

It’s difficult to comprehend the utter deprivation some people live with until you hear a first-hand experience.  Robert and the others worked in a community with 20% HIV infection rates, 40% unemployment and where the average wage was around £1 per day.  You can read more about the trip by visiting Robert’s EveryClick page.

Please also give your support to the Kano Foundation for a charity fundraiser at the Celtic Supporters Club on London Road tonight, where a group of hairy men are having their legs waxed.  You can donate by Paypal to donate@thekanofoundation.com, at the gates at the east end of Janefield St before 14:15 today or later at the club.

I must have missed that statement – when did that happen ?

  3. I know a lot of people on here give Gordon Dalzell pelters but I heard him on Clyde last night defend Neil repeatedly against charges made by Keevins and callers.

Just read back about your weight loss programme, Well done!

As an incentive to keep your ideal weight have a look at the ‘2012 Gold challenge’

My brother who lives in england got me involved, his wife and kids and me! are all part of our family team who have the challenge to walk, run, swim or cycle a total of 2012 km between us in the build up to the olympic games in london next summer.

There is a website which takes you through how to register and allows you to pick a charity to fundraise for whilst doing your exercise. Just google 2012 Gold challenge and you will find it.

We have chosen Dementia UK as a tribute to our mother who died in March as the hospital were saying she had the beginnings of Dementia.

Anyway give it a look it is a great incentive to keep up that exercise and keep the ‘ideal weight’ you have done so well to reach

    Hail Hail

Apropos of hee haw at all, we have 13 defenders in the 1st team squad (including Blackman and Lustig), and 2 goalkeepers, 15 senior professional players in all.

    Forster is here on Loan

    Zaluska was a Bosman signing

    Izaguirre cost £700,000

    Matthews was a Bosman

    Blackman was a Free

    Cha was a Free

    El Kaddouri is on loan

Mark Wilson cost £500,000 (6 years ago)

    Kelvin Wilson was a Bosman

    Charlie Mulgrew was a Bosman

    Thomas Rogne cost Training Compo

    Mikael Lustig was a Bosman

Lewis Toshney was a Youth Dev product

    and Glenn Loovens cost £2M

15 players, providing 3 completely different back 4s, total outlay £3.2M, average cost £210K per player.

That’s got to be just about the cheapest defence in European football this season.

he was telling me he had bumped into his mate – a bouncer in glasgow

wondered why he was working so early

seems that many of glasgows bouncers will be working at celtic park today

guessing they’ll be stewarding the green brigade

if true – a bloody disgrace

now before anyone pipes up – “aye but they are stewards employed by company x, blah blah blah”

these are guys who normally do not steward the games at celtic park.

some will have stereotypical bouncer mentality.

Are we to take from this that the BBC are using subsequent events (one of which I think has already been deemed worthy of no further action) to justify their commentators comments at the cup final? If so, this is a compete disgrace and would suggest they have no reasonable defence at all. Very Orwellian…

Exactly! I received the BBC PDFs and e-mailed a complaint about BBC Scotland using unrelated evidence after the fact and requested that it be removed.

Spot on…the Govan rag and bone operators are orchestrating this whole

shoddy affair as they shamble along the slow road to knacker’s yard oblivion.

Their parlousl condition is clearly terminal to all who have witnessed the comically

desperate obfuscatory and deflective attempts by the loathsome scottish sports

hacks to serve and protect by any underhand method at a perilous cost that as yet

has never been afforded any impartial analysis given the gravity of future repercussions.

In today’s Herald M.Lindsay leads with the sports front page headline …..”McCoist denies

Aluko paid bulk of compensation fee'” and quotes Sally as saying that only a tenth of that

was paid by the player and goes onto say that Aberdeen are a little bit upset by this!

Now why this would be the case is not explored by Matty who on a continuation piece on

page six now asserts in it’s headline..”Sone Aluko paid PART of the fee to facilitate his move…”

and again in the body of the piece reasserts this with the line..’Aluko’s decision to pay a SMALL

    Percentage of the development fee….’

This is classic hun hack tactics…Allow McCiost to state the ‘Facts’ of any potentially adverse story

and then despite no attempts at follow up interrogation or analysis such

Utterings in the face of the player’s quoted statements plastered across previous day backpages.

When it comes to the Beggars their equally mendicant and mendacious pals in the scottish press are

prepared at the nod from Sally to erase from the public record any dissenting voices and replace them

with the one true one…their Master’

    Who knows – ?

All I know is that there are reports that The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has instructed UK Embassies to prepare for significant social unrest should The Euro collapse.

I can only speak for Italy ——- youth unemployment [ under 26] in parts of Italy is @ 60 %. Adult unemployment in parts of Italy is @ 40 %.

If the euro collapses there will be mass unemployment and consequent social unrest. If the euro collapses there will a spin off effect on people’s savings etc.

Italy is going down the plug —— Barring a miracle it is going to default . If Italy defaults the Euro is finished.

Things ain’t too good in Spain either . New Spanish Government needs to borrow a lot of money . It might be unable to raise it . It too might default. If Spain defaults the Euro is finished .

We’ll see . Off oot —- might have a big slice of Tiramisiu with my ristretto —- I feel the need for some comfort eating !

  20. SOT

From what I’ve heard, although its limited, Spain is more at risk of defaulting than Italy.

  21. We are in for a tough game today. Difficult playing conditions, swirling winds and a slippy surface, could see this becoming a day where Steven Thompson thrives but Ki and Stokes may not.

Should we use Sammi to add height to our team or rule him out because he favours “top of the ground” conditions?

Spain is not in a good place when it comes to money, the unemployment is as high as Italy’s.

I have no idea if Spain will default or Italy, and the social unrest would be bad here as well, we, my family would be in a slightly better position here than the brits if anything did kick off.

Peter Robinson was speaking at the DUP conference where today he is expected to reinforce his support of integrated education.

I’m really enjoying watching him and his party squirm as they try to “cosy” up to the nationalist and Catholic communities. Their big fear – as discussed by Brian Feeney in the Irish News (articlle posted on here midweek by Ard Macha) is that they now realise that the Unionist community could in the foreseeable future become the minority community in NI. This support for integrsted education – laughable given the DUP’s and Robinson’s past – is just a part of their charm offensive.
